It's really sad, but once in a while this game has an impossible timed event and makes everything not worth it.

Town buildings listed here for those who want to count their buildings. A few unexpected items like Blythe faerie house, seasonal versions of the cottage, etc.

I sold a total of 23 buildings before I could craft the grim cottage, GRIM! Then I sold a few more ice cream cottages when S8 finally allowed these to be sold, to replace a few taverns that I had sold. GRIM!
Where do you see your number of town buildings? In overview, I only see crafting buildings and royal buildings. Is crafting buildings = town buildings?
The team has made some adjustments to the Grim Cottage and everyone should have the ability to craft it.

What about all of us who sold our hard-earned buildings? Are you going to make some adjustments for us and give us back what we were told we had to sell? This whole fiasco was not well thought out!

Along with the list in link above, when I opened the 'pictures' of town buildings it also included Jousting Arena, Fortune Teller and Storage Cellar and Royal Exchange. This might explain where there are 'unseen' number of town buildings and how some of us are still over limit.
If past incidents are anything to go by, we will probably have to submit a ticket and throw ourselves at the mercy of the support team. Perhaps the best thing to do now would be to take a screenshot of the announcement that tells us “The team does not currently plan on changing the Town Building max” as an explanation for the selling of our hard earned items and a reason why S8 should take responsibility for the items’ restoration.
