Yes, there are caps but during events those caps can be exceeded and I've missed very few over the years so I've greatly exceeded the caps

Yes but that's different. Anything earned from an event will go and count to the inventory since it's a prize. We're talking of the innability to buy a building type item because of the maxed cap. This reminds me of a purchase I made a few weeks ago which came with 50 wisp lanterns. I'm usually maxed out on wisps (99), but those 50 still counted and it showed 149 on my inventory. Same thing goes for the citizens from the Town Square. A few years ago I had like 35-40 roaming and the limit is 30. But since they were prizes they would still show up and count, even though i was already maxed. Of course, since I removed enough characters below 30, I can no longer have more than the limit, until the next one. And yes, I wish things were different and I don't understand why S8 hasn't made some very needed and reasonable improvements over the years.
