Yes, the drops are disappointing..
I'm not sure what to do now.. I didn't even look at the drops and already prepared the Axe and Rig for the second Plough Ox.
I just assumed it would be worth the trouble. But the Blue Calf might be the better prize...

I've decided to do this too.. a shame of my already crafted the extra riggs and axe, but it's my own fault for not paying better attention/ assume things.
The Blue Ox Calf is adorable

At least it was good practice, I had almost forgotten this little work around

I crafted 2 of the Blue Ox Calf and it won't let me place or store the 2nd one. Apparently you can only have one? Anyway the Magic Forge now has the little crate above it and my only other choice is to "sell". Is this correct? Do I just have to sell it?

Long story short, never sell. Do a force-close and craft stays in Magic Forge.
If you want 2 Plough Oxes, follow the instructions in post above.
If you want 1 Plough Ox and 1 Blue Ox Calf, leave your second Calf in your second Magic Forge and only collect it ones you have started crafting your first Plough Ox.

Yes, raise him and then store him. He is 'used as a crafting material' in the Plough Ox craft

I'm glad you didn't sell! That would have been such a shame.
Maybe read the other comments on this page too... it might not be worth the trouble to make 2 Plough Oxes.
Decide what you want (2 Plough Oxes or 1 Plough Ox and 1 blue Ox Calf) and plan accordingly.
