You earn leaderboard points for various tasks carried out on your island:
- 3 points for every hour of breeding
- 3 points for every hour of incubation (hatching)
- 3 points for every hour of evolution
- 2 points for every hour of harvesting
- 1 point for every 500 food fed to your dragons
- 20 points collected from the Dynamic Discovery every 2.5 hours
- 60 points collected from the Trivia Treasure every 2.5 hours
- 1000 points for hatching the Firststep Dragon and raising it to level 10
- 100-375 points for sending out your Night Light Dragon on quests
- 80 extra points for hatching a Breedable Ultra-rare dragon
- 40 extra points for hatching a Breedable Super-rare dragon
- 20 extra points for hatching a Breedable Rare dragon

I'm trying to figure out if I am going to attempt to get the prize dragon. First place is out of reach but I am not that far off from second, HOWEVER, I will be busy in the last hours of the leaderboard so should I attempt to do what I can the day before and hope or just not worry about it? Decisions decisions

Yeah, I don't even pay attention to the Global leaderboard and have always finished at the between 101 and 1,000 prize rank. I saw on the thread about the last sale people talking about collecting 100 gold PER DAY. I think I am up to about 30 but 100 seems crazy. They are definitely people that got gold producing dragons when they were less expensive. It does make me sometimes wish I had not taken a break from the game for a few years - I played from inception to about 1 year in. It got boring without events or anything, just collecting/breeding and clearing land and the only way to clear land was gold or requesting friends so I started running out. Anyway....I liked it other than that and wish I had played/checked in before I started back again. Oh well.

You know what they say about fools and their money. I don't know - maybe like Mostreal said, they have GPD. I still don't know how much $$$ someone would have to pay to get this many points.
2 of my accounts were in a group with about 6 people who all synched for 2nd place, essentially making 7th the the best anyone else could do. Would have been nice had they invited me to synch as well...
