Wow, 7! Makes me second guess if I saw it drop from the circle as I have other items next to it! Has anyone (else) had a drop from the circle of the dark compass??

I also have had the Dark Compass drop from the Study Circle.

I have just this second had 2 compasses drop from my mines.

I also had trouble with the compass went about 18 collections before getting one, but after that they started dropping again in about 1 every 4 collections. So keep collecting they appear to just be extremely rare. GOOD LUCK

There is no timer. The reward is 1000 coins and 50 xp.
