I placed the butterfly grove for the new event last night but whenever I tap on it I don't get the upgrade option. It simply won't let me do anything other than collect from it.

I’m having the same problem. Requirements to upgrade the butterfly grove are not given. It only shows time till next drop.
Are you up to goal 5? It doesn't let you upgrade till then...
