Chitter Dragon Disappeared!

I created and hatched my Chitter dragon, fed it three times, and now it is gone. The items I needed to create the dragon are gone because I used them this morning to hatch it. Help! Where did it go? Has anyone else had this issue? I even had moved on in the event chapters, but was put back to the chapter to hatch this dragon.
