Yep, here we go again. 6 fails so far for me. I really wish they would stop putting up the charade of these dragons being "common". Call it what it is. It's manipulated breeding to try and force players to spend precious gold. Just like arena tournaments and manipulating battle odds.

Honesty with your player base goes a long way. It's either dishonesty and code manipulation of odds on these things or they aren't aware of issues within their code which I would find extremely hard to believe.

Breeding and battle odds are not manipulated. The only time breeding changes are: 1) Dragons are given basic colors as parents to make it easier for players who don't have special colors (like fairy, gemstone etc) to participate and 2) when the pool naturally becomes smaller or larger due to retiring and new Dragons. You don't have knowledge nor access to make this statement. Please stop spreading misinformation on the forums.

there's a part of me that would LOVE to believe this, but the reality is such coding manipulation would be inefficient and take too much effort.

In the battle arena, I finish 99% of the time but it's really really hard for me. Just check my rantings ;-P

in breeding special "common" dragons, I've missed less than 5 event dragons and I've bred on the 1st attempt less than 5 times. Most of the time it takes me 6+ breedings.

Since I bred the last event dragon, Orator, on my first attempt, I'm expecting more than 6 attempts for Wonder.

S8 should just removed all past commons that were required for previous events that were basically useless now.
With virtue and water I've gotten 2 snow elfs, enamoured and another 5hrs now.
If I've wanted a game of luck, I'll just had gone to a casino instead of playing this game!

I beg to differ, but they are not useless.

1. They clog up the storage space on your devices (do you know that a brand new dragon’s graphic and details are only downloaded when you hatch it and that it stays on your device even after you sell all of them?) so it becomes a drag on resources, prompting us to come in here and rant; increases posts count in a rapidly dying forum.

2. They add to the difficulty of breeding new dragons (who needs to manipulate codes when the odds can be changed legitimately) thus increasing our frustration and the urge to press the ever present “complete now” button.

3. Dragons like the Wonder Dragon help to increase the number of dragon breeds in types such as the Fairytale, Holiday, Dark, etc. It wasn’t too long ago that players were complaining about S8 creating these new types and abandoning them; so there!

4. It teaches us resource management. However, this doesn’t apply if you are a completionist.

Yes, they should expire the tons of previously released commons and just have them available to the codex. Just expire an old one when a new one is released. Heck, if they can expire the notorious Peppermint Mocha quickly then they could drop Enamored, New England, Neo Bubble, Volt and Snow Elf the same way. Furthermore, there should never be common dragons with the same elements period.

After many, many fails using only single elements pink and blue dragons I tried Smitten and Water and finally got Wonder. Shouldn’t be this difficult. There are too many fails with this combo. The more dragons they add to the market the more fails. I agree with those about retiring common dragons from past events. I say if you don’t get one while an event is in progress then it should not be available after that event ends.
