I got the Armoured Black Bear early on but all it has given me so far are red dragon scales. Seems like a waste of troll tokens to me. What use are the dragon scales anyway?

Got the Black Bear
Knew blue dire boars were multi spawn
Focused on getting all Dark Unicorns
Happy with the animal choices given to craft
Unhappy with animal choices
Happy there was no leaderboard
Wish there was a leaderboard as well

If you have all the required materials, are you able to craft in the Mythic Research Center after Monster Hunts are over? I?m short on one item that can be collected ?regularly? and want to know if I keep my troll tokens and wait until I collect more of the missing item, if I can trade as soon as I?ve collected enough.
There is one potion in the potion shop ( Mythic Essense)- you can use dragons scales there. But you almost NEVER need that potion anyway... ( Perhaps elves would ask for it). Or elves rarely ask for dragon scales. Dragon scales are one of the most useless drops we can have - we needed them in certain quest for a short time, but after that - they are waste. You just get extra coins if you are maxed out....
Since we're on the subject of the Wizard Portal, does it come built with the minimum drop of 4 energy, or do we have to build it before it has drops?
Like other buildings that we had to build first.
Copied this from the buildings guide:
Wizard's Portal (2x2) limit 2 Cannot be sold
Info: A Resource Building Collect from it to gain Energy.
Crafted: Trade Wagon, 5 hours - 85 troll token, 20 staff token, 5 lumin essence
Collection time: 5 hours
Speed up: 10 gems
Drops: energy
Level 1: craft and place | drops 4 energy
Level 2: 15 staff token, 20 troll token, 2 spellbound block, 2 spellbound beam | drops 5 energy
Level 3: 18 staff, 22 troll token, 4 spellbound block, 4 spellbound beam | drops 6 energy
Level 4: 20 staff, 23 troll token, 1 earthen block, 1 earthen beam | drops 7 energy
Level 5: 22 staff, 25 troll token, 2 earthen block, 2 earthen beam | drops 8 energy
Looks like Portal is worth having after all, but if someone can get troll tokens VERY slowly, I would still go for Amored Direwolf first, since it doesn't require upgrading. Building Wizard Portal woild take 85 troll tokens...and to upgrade it to max level - another 90 troll tokens. Total would be 175 troll tokens to get fully upgraded Wizard portal - and that is MORE than two amored direwolves.
I've really enjoyed this new twist on the Monster Hunt formula. Of course, the lack of any new energy droppers in the MRC means this is the first time I didn't focus on Troll Tokens which was a novel experience in and of itself. I finished the milestones on the first day and used my saved tokens to craft two of the Armored Black Bears, then got down to the dirty busy of ****ing monsters.
Soooo many monsters ****ed. It was a straight up massacre in my realm and now most monsters have been put on the endangered species list so I've stopped slaying early. While my energy reserves took a pretty big hit, I'm still pleased with the pets I've amassed while spending it. Overall I collected about 2,000 beast tokens and crafted 15 animals which I think is a productive week's work.
Wishes for future Hunts:
1 - Have the monsters spawn from non-growing items such as rocks It's a shame we had to waste so much energy growing trees on top of the energy used to defeat spawns.
2 - Offer energy sales. Normally I think unlimited energy packs aren't worth it but for Hunts, I'll gladly shell out for them. s8 really missed out on making quick cash this time around.
But 2 Armored Direwolves would also need 150 mithril. It took a while to build back up from one DW even with a mithril dropping dragon.
The DW most often drop 20 energy per 5 days. I know they can drop 40 but with mine that’s extremely rare, so 2 would give 38 net most of the time, could possibly be 58 or 78.
My fully upgraded WP drops a net of 7 every 5 hours. Just 2 collections a day would net 70, 3 collections would net 105, and if you wanted to set an alarm the 4 possible would net 140 over the 5 days.
So what would you rather have? A guaranteed 38, possibly up to 78 once every 5 days OR an easy 70 to 105 or more scattered throughout the 5 days.
Depends how fast I can make tokens, I guess. But it Wizard portal is quite expensive to fully upgrade. Yeah, mithril is hard to get - but I am constatnly turning my maxed out silver into mithril. I already have 3 Amored direwolves, 1 more and I can work on portals My direwolves drop 40 energy quite often, so I like them. Also - I would love to make Wizard portal, but during events I often like to have " more per collect" than 5 scattered through the day - it is easier to spend 5 energy unwisely than full energy.
This event has been really great. I especially liked the aspect that you could/should choose what to focus on and make your own strategy rather than numbless chopping according to an old template. And of course that there was no leaderboard (yay). My challenge was the imbalance in tokens, where I saw sword tokens painstakingly collected being wasted due to lack of shield and staff tokens.
I managed to collect the black bear, the black bear cub, 3 dark unicorns and 6 direwolfs plus the last armored lion and the last 3 golden peacocks. I have enough troll tokens for 3 upgrades of my wizards portals but alas it requires staff tokens, and so does another armored direwolf and other remaining MRC crafts. I support the idea of a new trade of sword tokens only.
In addition to the different hitting options when fighting monsters I would like to suggest a "do-or-die"-button: My ruler fights the monster (I don't care about hit-type) until the monster is defeated or I run out of energy. Quick-collect will complete the fight. This will save a lot of time during monster hunts.
