Issue with Expanded Areas

I can't clear the axe in the expanded area (see image).
When I first expanded to the area far left it wouldn't let me click on the area to clear the object.
When I expanded to the area to the right of it, it then allowed to me to click the object to clear.
Now it won't clear the axe so I can't use a large habitat in either.
The object seems to shared by both areas.
