Gems and decorations.

You get new ovens, with new recipes to master. Each recipe gives you two gems after you've mastered it. If the oven has the typical 3 recipes, that's 6 gems.

There are decorations that are only available by doing the goal. Some can be purchased, but some of the decorations can only be obtained by completing the goal.

I think that unless you're just dying to have whatever the decorations might be, working on goals isn't for newbies. You need TONS of coins to complete the goals and you need a bunch of really good neighbors. Newbies don't have those things.

The goals can wait, IMO. And if you don't enjoy just playing the game as a newbie, then there is no point at all in the goals. If you don't like the game, goals would be ridiculous.

Agree, goals use up a lot of money, that's why I didn't start doing goals till I reached level 60. You also need lots of time for goals as some of the first recipes are quite short, like 1hr, and expire quickly.

kayjco and misstwilight, thanks for your replies! I'm only level 18 haha so I got a ways to go. Focusing more on getting more appliances so I can cook more and stay open longer
