It would be most helpful if in the settings, storm8 will add a toggle to open and close the flow of gift acceptance. For example: On Wednesday afternoon I post to every neighbors wall " Please hold gifts tomorrow until after release of update."
Yet, only certain neighbors respect and follow through. I wouldn't at all mind keeping only those players who I would consider in my group of similar play style. However, adding more neighbors is required to obtain each expansion. Switching the toggle to "off" before bed would be the solution. If they are blocked from going through into acceptance, then they can still send them later when he player toggles "on," or similar concept.

This game is a legal business. To whom working legitimately at Storm8 may paying customers formally submit requests, complaints and suggestions?
