My chick has been unlocked at Goal 4. I'm crafting it now. I've expended to much energy on Egging Gnome to quit now. And I want to get my 20 gems back . Looking back at PcoB's post, it doesn't look like it will help with collecting eggs. At least so far. It should!!!

The Egging Gnome is the only goal that is not locked. So that's the one I'm doing. But I am working on the other too. Making tokens in forge.

Making tokens in forge IS the main goal and it is called “Going Gnome” . Look at the top of the goal in your goal book and you’ll see the alicorn at the end.

Yes. I see how it works now. But when I saw the goal in front of the locked goals, I thought it had to be done before the others would unlock. I was wrong in assuming that. Live and learn.

Ok i?m getting a lot if Ruler?s Eggs from dead trees but hardly any Realm Eggs from them. Ugh.

I'm getting about one every eight to ten trees (or 40 to 50 energy spent).
By my calc, we will need to chop about 220 dead trees, so I expect to get 22-27 in total - enough for five trades.

Assumptions:
Dark Queen's Egg: 5 (Harvest a Rocket Lakspur or Larkspur Shrub)
Princess' Egg: 5 (Tend chickens)
Troll's Egg: 15 (Grow 5, drops on average 1 per tree)
Ruler's Egg: 3 (Drops 2 per chopped tree)
Witch's Egg: 1 (Guarantee drop from Ivy's Hut)
Wize Man's Egg: 1 (Spawns naturally by chopping dead trees, defeat the skunkupie 1)
Fool's Egg: 3 (Drops 33% of the time)

But happy to defer to other opinions, because I might just have got lucky.

I am averaging about 3 per tree as well. That would make the energy expense more like 5 per troll egg. I’m not sure if it made the difference, but I never chopped a partial tree, always shopped the entire tree at once and used quick collect.

Just double checking - the only monsters needed for this event are the egging gnomes from farmhouses and skunkupines from white birch? Do the skunkupines come from anything else?

Skunkupines come from dead trees and larkspur too
