How to populate the ice age?

I wish to start breeding ice dragons, but I have no dragons in the left hand column to breed with.

I cannot afford the gold required to buy the eggs from the market place.

What can I do to get the first ice dragon egg please?

To get into the Arctic Isles you should have already bred Ice Age dragon (Winter dragon and Magic can give you one). Once in the Arctic isles you breed Ice Age (he should show up on the left side) with other regular dragons. Fuzzy and Ice Age gives an abominable... etc.
