In the first 5 or so Chapters, if you plan ahead and have everything prepared, some of the Chapters take less than 3 hours to complete (and some take less than 10 minutes). Some take about 6 hours. Every time that happens, you end up waiting like 18 hours for the next Chapter to unlock. Because of that wait time between Chapters, you should have plenty of time to let the eggs hatch naturally, and then craft and hatch the Yule, and still be on schedule. If you do fall a little behind, no worries- it's easy to catch back up (again, because of the wait time between Chapters).
The Snow Elf might not count if hatched early -this has happened in many past Tales- and I would not be willing to take that chance, tbh. Not being able to breed a needed dragon is one of the main reasons players can't finish the Tales. You already have the dragon. Why risk it? Just my opinion.
If Chandelier is about to expire and MUST get on a nest, asap, or else you'll not be able to get it (I haven't been paying attention to Chandelier so don't know the exp. date), then I'd go with paying gold to speed the Stocking hatch in order to clear a nest. Better to be safe than sorry and leave the Snow Elf right where he is until his task comes up.
