Server Update?

Every once in awhile my game seems to "refresh" and I lose a bunch of coins and basically everything goes back (recipes and all) a bit in time.

You are experiencing an out of synch issue.
When you are not playing and do not close out your game, when you come back to play, it will take a few seconds for your game to wake up
and for your progress to be saved.

Also before leaving your game, go visit a neighbor and come back to make sure any progress you do has time to save on the servers.

If you leave the game too fast, it is possible that some of your actions do not have time to save.
