Once I whacked my first skunkupine the nursery unlocked for the skunkpea (?)

Most likely when you've crafted one the other goal for the fang baby will unlock.

You are correct. I just crafted my skunkupea and a new goal started for the fangpup. So far, there's no side goal to get the bonus 25 fangpup milk. Skunkupea has a 4 hr. timer and drops wheat and fur so far.

Just got my Skunkupea fusing started!

Fusing takes 24hrs - 96gems to speed up.

No gems spent!
... I just had 275 energy stored up ...
One of my Alis dropped 100energy 36hrs ago and I stockpiled energy since.

Got all my Skunkupines from quick-collect harvesting Corn (30 plots).

I'll have my Skunkupea in 24hrs if anyone wants to visit and see.

I'm anticipating the Fangpup won't be as easy.

I did the 24 hours goal by harvesting more corn than Monsanto. I could collect enough to fuse for the baby but the constant plant-harvest-repeat is boring so I will do it leisurely.

The building is nice and will match the other rustic buildings. Pets are cute but I don't think I will be fusing many. Thank you for the update that provided a much needed breather in the game.

Noway close. According to my math I am only at level 125. Out of curiosity I just check how much XP is needed: 51,492,000

At the speed that Puffhausen generates XP, it will take him a life time to reach that much XP!

I always have trouble getting skunkupines to my kingdom. Maybe we have an invisible skunkupine barrier. I can't imagine luring 25 in 24 hours.
