This is as an alphabetical guide of all the items that can be dropped by buildings, nature or adventures in Castle Story.
For a given item this inventory provides:
- how or where to find it,
- how to use it,
- links to threads about it (if there are any) and
- in many cases, a picture.

If you received something and do not know what it is or how to use it, you may find some answers here. If you need an ingredient to craft any material or cook any meal and do not know where to look for it, you may find information about it here.

Crafted at the potion shop or Tinkers camp

- crafting Magic cement
- building Cathedral (3), Deep mine and Ampitheatre (3)
- upgrading Cathedral to level 2 (2 required), Royal Manor to level 10 (3), Wizard School to level 5 (3), Knight's Hall to level 3 (2) and 4 (2)

Bacon

Found by pigs or stable. Gem pigs drop more bacon (the more expensive the pig is, the more bacon it drops, Royal pigs drop 1-3 per collection)
Used for
- crafting Balanced breakfast (20), Grits(4), Feed the baron (20) and
- at Royal exchange for Meat delivery trade (25)

Beast statue

Dropped by adventures. Crafted at workshop and available at the Market.
Used as decoration, it doesn't add any royal point


Big ruby

Found by the King troll or Sir Pigglesworth

Blue dye

Crafted at the Workshop from 6 Blue Petals and 3 waters
Used for
- upgrading Watchtower level 1 to 2 (1 needed), Royal manor level 5 to 6 (4)
- crafting Blue Banners and
- building the Theater (5 required)

Blue petals

Dropped everytime by Blue Flower Penstemon and randomly by Patch of Tall Grass, Plant in a Log, Old Log or Ivy's hut.
Used for
- crafting blue dye (required for building a Theater)
- upgrading the Conservatory to level 3 (25)

Bone

Found by defeating fangbeast, trolls or dropped by Ivy's hut (all are random drops)
Used for
- goals: Rich Windbag Caravan and 2nd shard's quest, Tabernum Research: Anatomy
- trades Monster Hunter (20) and Troll Hunter (20)

Box of chocolates (Valentine's edition)

Crafted at the Love Shack or Found by Adventures
Used for crafting Valentines feast

Bread

Crafted at the kitchen with 2 flour, 2 water, 6 milk or Found by Sir Pigglesworth, Feed the Baron and Dairy exchange trade
Used for
- crafting Simple Feast, Breaded fish
- goals: Follow the recipe (kitchen goals) and
- upgrading Cathedral to level 3 (5) and Tavern to level 3 (6)

Breaded fish

Found by Sir Piggy or crafted at the Kitchen with Fish and Bread or rarely from the Dairy and Egg Exchange
Used for
- crafting Hearty feast
- goals: Hungry for freedom (Sabina's goals), Hearty meals and Cooking caravan
- upgrading Tavern to level 5 (3)

Breakfast buffet

Crafted at the Kitchen from 10 Oranges, 20 eggs and 20 bacons
Used for goals Balanced breakfast (requires 1) and Cooking caravan (requires 10). No further use known for now.

Builder's paste

Found randomly by Sir Piggy, Feed the baron or Adventures. Obtained also from Enchanters supply. Crafted at the potion shop or Tinkers camp with Superglue, wood and sap
Used for
- building Windmill and Theater
- upgrading Royal manor to level 8 (2), Knight's Hall to level 2 (2) and Wizard school to level 4 (4)
- crafting Architect's Paste

Cocoa beans

Corn

Dropped by Corn crops
Used for
- crafting Grits and
- goals: Wheat harvest has to harveted), First caravan,
- upgrading stable from level 1 to level 2 (50)

Cows

Can be bought at the market, the more expensive (gems) are also dropped by Adventures
Used for
- they always drop milk. They may drop Hide (rare) and Prime cuts (super rare).
- gem cows drop more hides and prime cuts (the more expensive the cow, the more rare items it drops)
- royal cows add Royal points.

Creep tooth

Dropped by Skunkupine, Fangbeast, Trolls, Ivy's hut
To attract skunkupines, try harvesting corn, wheat, tomato, sugar cane, chopping trees or tending flowers. To get Fangbeasts, harvest carrots, strawberries and hot peppers, tend animals and collect from stables, hatcheries and sawmills. To attract Trolls, try harvesting glimmerbulbs and cocoa beans, water mushrooms and collecting from Royal buildings or mines.

- crafting Potions of clarity, as a part of Ivy's experiment goals
- upgrading Theater from level 3 to level 4 (40)
- trades Monster Hunter (20) and Troll Hunter (20)

Dark cave formation

Dropped (rare) by the adventure Explore Dark Caves.
Used for mining but after 10 hits it would be gone. It gives silver, jewels, stone, coal, iron ore, mithril.

Dropped by adventures. Crafted at workshop and available at the Market.
Used as decoration. It adds 5 Royal Points

Earth wisp

Dropped by Sparkling mine, Deep mine, adventures, Sir Piggy, Feed the baron. Crafted from 5 coal at workshop and Tinkers camp or received as a gift from neighbors
Used for
- crafting Wisp lanterns (required for expansions) and Luminessence (required for adventures),
- goal: "Finding earth wisps" (you need to find 6), 5 are needed for the Scrying game goal (Glimmertrove goals with Ivy).
- upgrading Sparkling mine to level 2 (5 needed),
- for Valentine's edition, crafting a Kissing light post at the Love Shack

Eggs

Dropped by: Chickens, Hatchery and, randomly, Ivy's hut.
Used for
- crafting Balanced breakfast, Ice cream and Noodles,
- upgrading farmhouse to level 3 (25 needed), level 4(20) and level 5(30); Marketplace to level 2 (35);
- at Royal exchange, Eggs & Dairy exchange (requires 25 and gives Kitchen materials like sugar, flour, noodles, hearty stew, grits, pasta, breaded fish, bread)
Note: required for goal Milk and eggs, the First caravan (20) and a Marketplace request (120)

Enchanted beam

Found by Sir Piggy, Feed the baron, adventures or crafted at the workshop with fancy beams and enchanter's essence
Used for
- building Theater, Cathedral, Amphitheatre, Deep mine
- upgrading Knight's Hall to level 3 (3); Windmill to level 4 (2) and 5 (4); Observatory to level 4 (2) and 5 (4); Theatre to level 2 (1), level 3 (2), level 4 (3) and 5 (4); Cathedral to level 2 (2), level 3 (4), level 4 and 5 (10); Amphitheatre to level 3 (4), level 4 (6) and 5 (8)

Enchanted block

Found by Sir Piggy, adventures, Feed the baron or crafted at the workshop with fancy block and enchanter's essence
Used for
- building Theater, Cathedral, Amphitheatre, Deep mine
- upgrading Knight's Hall to level 3 (1), Windmill to level 4 (2) and 5 (4); Observatory to level 4 (2) and 5 (4); Theatre to level 2 (1), level 3 (2), level 4 (3) and 5 (4); Cathedral to level 2 (2), level 3 (4), level 4 and 5 (10); Amphitheatre to level 3 (4), level 4 (6) and 5 (8), Wizard school to level 5 (6)

Enchanter's essence

Found by adventures or crafted at the potion shop with glimmerdust, mermaid scales and water or dropped by trades (Trade with Belladona)
Used for
- crafting Architect's paste, Enchanted beams and blocks
- upgrading Library to level 5 (3), Cathedral to level 5 (10),
- goal: to brew a Potion of clarity for the Magic garden, the Enchanted Blade, Dense Fishing hook and Excalibam for Thurston

Energy

Dropped by: adventures, Sir Pigglesworth, Alicorn, Wizard school, Meat Exchange, harvesting crops if you have received a third shard and completed the goal "Agriculture". Before reaching level 10, any action could drop energy. You can buy it with gems.
Used for playing!

Entrance Unicorn statue

Dropped by adventures. Crafted at workshop and available at the Market.
Used as decoration. It adds 12 Royal Points

Entwined seedling (Valentine's edition)

Dropped randomly by Valentine items like flowers (Pink Flower Penstemon, Flowering Bush, Talinum Incarnadine, Playful trillium, Romantic larkspur and Sprite Blossoms), Fluttermush rings and plants (Amourous reeds, Lustweed). Also by Dispel the Love Magic Adventure (Valentine's edition adventure). Can be sent as a gift by neighbors.
Used for
- crafting a random Valentine plant (Valentine Botany) or tree (Valentine Forestry)
- goals: Valentine Botany and Strangeness in the air

Dropped by Ponds and Wells. Ponds and Wells drop more fish after collecting your first knowledge shard and completing its goal.

Fur

Dropped randomly by Skunkupine, Fangbeast, Ivy's hut, Maticore. It can be received as a gift from neighbors.

Gems

Found by adventures, Sir Pigglesworth (rare, it drops 5), Purple cow (rare, it drops 1 or 2), Feed the baron (reports of 1 gem). Can be a reward from goals.
Trade: get 1 gem with any Delicious Trade and 5 gems with any Golden Trade
Used for buying things in the market, speeding up collections or skipping goals.

Glimmerbulb

Dropped by Glimmerbulb crops, Ivy's hut, Purple cow
Used for
- there is a chance of getting Faerie jar when harvesting Glimmerbulbs.
- collecting one "upgrades" Fruit trade (the only 1 hour trade) to Rare fruit trade (two hours).
- trades: Rare fruit trade and Magic fruit trade

Glimmerdust (aka GD)

Dropped by Glimmerdust trove and (rare) by all mushrooms and circle mushrooms (red circle has the highest drop rate), Ivy's hut, Magic garden, Sir Pigglesworth (randomly drops 2), Feed the baron, old log, dead tree, plant in a log, tall grass, fern patch, adventure and Trade with Belladona. It can be received as a gift from neighbors. There used to be an option to request it from Ivy's hut while it was under construction, but the option was removed.

Hide

Dropped (rare) by cow or stables. Gem cows drop more hides (the more expensive the cow is, the more the hides it drops). Purple cow doesn't drop them.

- crafting all banners, Leather Cover (for the Book of spells and the Translator's tome, as part of Old Thomas's goals)
- upgrading Cottage to level 2 and 4; Marketplace to level 3; Windmill to levels 2, 3, 4, 5; Library to level 2; Observatory to level 3; Theatre to level 2; Amphitheatre to level 4;
- Trapper trade and
- goals Second Caravan, Market request Hides, Just warming up (Thurston goals)

Hot pepper

Dropped by pepper crops or (random) Ivy's house
Used for
- crafting Ivy's hot sauce,
- harvesting one (even if you are maxed out) triggers the goals to unlock Ivy's hot sauce (and at level 17)
- upgrading Marketplace to level 4
- goal: 50 are needed for the Hungry work goal (Glimmertrove goals with Ivy).

I

Iron ore

Dropped by any rock or Sparkling Mine. Iron rich rock drops 1-2 iron ore per hit. Iron ore can be received as a gift from neighbors.
Used for
- crafting longsword, fancy block, light armor and (for goals only) iron binding, stout axe, and ballista. It creates silver (4th shard required) at the Magic Forge.
- goals: 80 are required for a Market request. 30 are needed for the All that Glimmers goal (Glimmertrove goals with Ivy).

Ice cream
