As I visit neighbors or community members, I occasionally see a door or chair blocking the door to their restaurant. Why is this done?

It helps to keep customers out so they don't eat up all ur inventory! People will do this while waiting for food to cook.....till they get enough on the counters so customers have plenty of food to keep them happy. When there is no food they get cranky and ur rating goes down! I did this when I first started playing the game. Especially during the night....otherwise I would wake up to all my food gone.
I close it when im gone so my customers dont have a BF.
The games aren't designed for the door to be blocked. Many users experience a quick sale as soon as they open their door and all their food is gone. If people are trying to slow down the rate of consumption, then just remove all the chairs but one or two, this way you will still sell some food and avoid the quick sale, have tables for your neighbors to tip, but hopefully won't run out of food.
I don't have problems with food running out during the night now....cuz I have enough on the counters to supply everyone! But didn't when I first started!
queentina,
I've read about the quick sale on the forums many times but I've never experienced it in either Restaurant or Bakery when my store was closed. Any ideas why some people get it and others don't? I'd actually like to have quick sales happen in Bakery!
Perhaps even better if you have the room for it is to move the cashier far away from the door and make it as long a walk as possible to the tables. This slows down the customers themselves but you don't lose quantity of customers like you would if you had fewer chairs. Kind of a medium route.
that is the million dollar question. Since it is against the design of the game to block the door, really no way of knowing why.
Yes I also agree that if you need to slow up how fast your food is being eaten and sold, take your tables far away from your door and hostess table. This will take longer for your customers to come in eat and leave.
