Didn't see another thread open, but how do you tell what action get points once the "realm master" part kicks in? My splash screens/info screens never say ....
I don't know what level you are on, but the lower levels have lower requirements, so make sure you aren't overestimating how much work you need to do. Until you have played for a long time and have a lot of resources and ways to get energy, it can be very difficult to finish events. There are threads somewhere on this forum on hw to get extra energy, like trades at the Royal Exchange, going on adventures, having wizard schools, crafting energy in the little cart thingy (I forget what it is called), etc. I have nowhere near enough energy to finish events, but I do buy gems to buy some items or speed some things up, and I also purchase value packs. In some cases, there are events that I just can't finish. Although it would be nice to finish all events, I pick and choose which ones I want to do. You must be very interested in the prizes from this event, so I'm sorry if you can't get them all. That really stinks.
But, yes, the game exists to make money for the company. They have a staff of designers, programmers, etc, who need to be paid. Over the years I have spent literally thousands of dollars to Storm8 for various games. Just today I spent over $50 US between Dragon Story, Castle Story, and Fantasy Forest Story. Players who spend money are what keep the game going and essentially subsidize the non-paying players. It is what it is.
Disagreements are a normal part of the human experience and can be handled respectfully. Don't think I don't see.
This was very well said. While I cannot always afford to spend money on "free" games, in this case it is a trade off for the ZILLIONS of extremely annoying ads that other "free" games offer. Additionally, I'd say that this is far superior in overall design as well. I have spent more than I have planned/budgeted/really should have done over the last 10 - 15 years (mostly between Castle Story & Dragon Story). I may not "like" having spent the money, but I have enough friends in the gaming industry (which is being hit pretty hard at the moment) to know that the company has to make money to pay their people SOMEWHERE. (I'd rather it were one of their OTHER games, but that's just because I'm severely under-employed at the moment! lol)
Again, thank you for your well-balanced & well-spoken response.![]()
I cannot find the thread to reply to, but THANK YOU to whoever reminded me that the Black Queen (event "baddie") will be triggered (usually 2 out of 3 for me) from the Painting Pawns (event "craft 3 of" craft). I read that & thought "DUH! You KNEW that, idiot!" THANK YOU SO MUCH for reminding me, as that will DEFINITELY save me the stress of finishing. (I currently cannot play on my phone, so have to rely on the tablet, which I do not carry everywhere! lol)
The purpose of any business is to make money. If your account is old enough/you have gathered enough resources, once Can finish certain events without spending money.
If you play Community Events just enough to qualify for the Energy boxes, you can gain a source of extra energy to save & use later. The items crafted from the Fairy Chests, and certain other crafts done mid way through an event, will sometimes be multi-item droppers. You can slowly obtain gems in the Exchange. Doing a WW event will allow you fill up on resources & collect some coins; chopping Rock Outcroppings for 5 minutes steady often gives a few Gold Nuggets to aid in those events asking for nuggets. By going for "energy dropper" prizes, you can get a collection of them such that at some point, you can bank energy instead of using the 40 we get every 2 hours. And finally have enough gems to use a few here & there early on (which someone here once pointed out was an effective use, instead of waiting until late in an event) to finish events.
It will take much longer going the slow way than if you spend a few dollars here & there. Many games (even S8 ones) make people watch ads to play parts of the game. I am happy we aren't forced to watch ads to play here, I quit Dragon Story for that reason.
So like many things in life, it costs. Time, and sometimes some money. Considering what movie tickets & sporting events and other "entertainment" things cost, IMO this is a fairly inexpensive one. Please don't be upset that S8 isn't providing a full gaming experience "for free." Consider budgeting some $ to buy gems or an occasional Value Pack as part of your "entertainment budget." I know I was happier doing so, to obtain a few items I really wanted to make gameplay less stressful wondering *if* I would finish. Oh, I also spent a few months early on just building up my game, when I realized that even though my level would allow me to participate, I didn't have enough resources (pigs, farmhouses, chickens, higher level resource buildings, etc.) to finish even if I did log in every 2 hours. If your account is still low level, consider gathering items like the coins, animals, buildings, flowers, etc. such that you can actually finish. 2 Farmhouses versus 10-12 makes a world of difference, as does 20-30 animals. Resource buildings at least level 5 means you can collect from them more than 3-4 times a day, and they tend to drop more (like, sparkling mines will drop more gold nuggets the higher level the mine is, and multiples of the other items too instead of just 1 or 2).
Just for reference, with normal game play, no gems or value packs, I was able to easily collect enough realm coins to craft all three pieces - red king and black and white queens. I just finished my 4th team red seat, and have pretty much finished collecting except for the banners from the fountain and the painted pawns. It helps that I broke my ankle and have been fairly confined. Not a strategy I recommend, but I found this to be an easier event than several recent ones.
Cheese eater. I've been warned.
For those of you wanting to craft extra pieces, FYI once you finish and the Chess Garden is fully upgraded, Black Queens will no longer spawn from the Chess Garden. Make sure you collect all the coins you need before the final upgrade.
No Gems For Runes!
