Think 4 should be enough, maybe even 2, as you would only need 2 fabrics in level 8 and six in level nine.
Bottleneck would be the crafting of Hearth Stones and Firewoods, leaving plenty of time to collect the fabric from the jewelers.

Double the fabric amount if you are crafting 2 Gretas.

Can anyone post the requirements for Goals 7, 8 and 9? I?ve read mention of a energy-dropping wizard in Goal 7, Jewelers in Goal 8 and 2 Gretas in Goal 9. It would be great to get an idea of what we can look forward to. Thanks.

Maybe force close your game and check if you have the 2.3 (2.3.2) version of the game. (you can check that in 'Menu' - 'Help/FAQ' - right lower corner shows your version)

Walter needs 15 Dark Meters to craft.
Takes an hour.
Mine is currently cooking.

I had 5 lvl 5 and 1 lvl 9 jewelers out. I did not get any fabric from any of them. SW can you please ask S8 to turn on fabric for anything over lvl 1 please. They’ve done this before. I also have 1 lvl 1 which I have just put out. Hoping this is the problem and it’s not just an extremely rare drop. Will check them all again in the morning.

Demotivating to upgrade your buildings..

So far I am enjoying this event. Fingers crossed. And actually the Big Bad Beasts event and this one are really helping with the Academy storyline.
There's a tiny silver lining.
