Is there any difference in the game between these 2 platforms? As the game data is stored on Storm8 servers, I assume I can log out of my iPhone and log on using my Android and the game will migrate to my new device?

Yes you can transfer your game to respective device using the Logon feature, information on it in Main Guide, link in my signature.
