All of the goblins we can craft in Makeda's portal offer the chance to spawn goblins outside of MM's visits which helps a lot to get extra crystals for trades.
For newer players with smaller realms it's probably not the best or most efficient use of resources, to be honest. I think it's more for those players who either like a prize enough to spend the gems...
