I think you can only delete messages on your wall, and messages you've left on other peoples walls, but not their messages. I can do all of it, and see everything if I want lol

See the little box next to the top of each message, next to View Conversation? If you check it, then scroll all the way to the bottom, there's a Moderation Tools with a number next to it (for how many messages you have selected). It will give you the option to Delete, Approve, Unapprove, or Deselect.
