I wonder if that's the trade off, higher chances for critical hits but less time to complete the event. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for three day/six day tournaments.

The new Emerald Pony has the elements of Birthstone and Nature. Birthstone is weak against Fire (strong against Dark/Earth/Nature/Lightning) and Nature is also weak against Fire (strong against Earth). Therefore, Fire is double strong against Emerald Pony.

4 days?! SO UPSET! I have so much trouble finishing a 6 day tournament that this just seems impossible! I've been playing for years and it's frustrating how hard these tournaments have become for me. I love these ponies and want them all, I guess that many players do too and that's why it is turning into a 'pay'ment instead of a 'tourna'ment.
I'm curious to see how many (if any) players can get this without spending a single gem.

So if we do decide to sleep and started right away we get 64 attempts. It's taken me from 47-69 attempts to get through a thirty round tournament.

Four days?! Yikes. I may not being winning Emerald. That's sad because I haven't missed a pony yet! I've been deep in training for an awesome new job so haven't had time to post results the last several tournies. Wondering if anyone has worked out what the new birthstone element is weak to and strong against? Good luck everyone! 

I'm not sure about water. I haven't been able to see a Strong Attack result from using water.

and like everyone else, 4 days! how is that a natural progression from 6 days. We should at least get 5 days to ease us into a shorter time-frame, and not on a "collection" animal type. So many people will be stuck forever with an incomplete collection.

I love the ponies but gave up tournaments,but did do last pony one. This one with the time frame I'm saddened that I just don't have time. I spend money in these games...3 forests, 3 DS islands and 2 cs kingdoms, but events are getting shorter and more difficult to make us use gems/gold to complete and I just won't use gems/gold on EVERYTHING so I'm not even attempting this tourney. I'll just have to do with the ponies I have. I can't see them bringing back the other way to get them. Good luck to all.

Just to make it harder on me, there's now been three times already where upon my next login I find my last battle win didn't register. I've been checking to make sure I can visit a neighbor after everything, too.
I really want this whole collection, but like others, I'm not supporting S8's decision to force us to use gems for this. I have over 1500 gems but I'm not planning on using a single one simply out of spite. I don't mind spending real money, but I resent essentially being forced to.

This one is absolutely impossible without spending tons of gems which I don't have or like others have said, don't sleep!

I think it's fairer and far less random than having to breed a specific animal. I've been playing for three years, and other than the first year when I was building and gathering animals, I win almost every tournament WITHOUT spending gems. If you have the luxury of battling most every hour (allowing normal sleep and missing a time or two) you can do it. Using the right elements is the key. Yes you can get stuck here and there, but with these forums where you know what's coming ahead, and can plan what you need to battle your opponent with, and even given lists of what other players use, to me, it makes it so less random than the probability of having to breed a specific animal to earn a specific animal. I look at it as if we have 4 days to pass 30 rounds, you need to win 7-8 battles a day. Now that's more than 5 in a 6 day tournament, but I believe it's doable.

I get some people don't have a start time until the middle of the night. It's all relative. I'm currently on the east coast, so ours don't start until 2:30 PM. Meaning we really lose 8 hours of a start day. Regardless, I'm on day two and have won 9 battles. No gems spent. I hope by bed time this evening to be at battle round 14-16. I'm posting my results so you'll be able to see if I win. Again I could be in the minority but I'm ok with tourneys.

I think you pointed out the issue in your post, it's a luxury being able to battle every hour bar when your sleeping and it shouldn't have to be! At least with the goal lines those of us with kids/full time jobs/school or large amounts of gems/money don't have to worry about having to battle once an hour. It's not really fairer to have the tourneys, the last few tourneys I have gotten stuck on an opponent and had to battle it 18 times to move on, now you could say just spend the gems, but when that happens more than once (which it has) the gems add up a lot quicker than in a goal line.
I'm not saying I'm totally against them, a mix of goal lines and tourneys would be fine, but why shorten it to 4 days? Enough of us are struggling as it is. I hope you don't think this is me attacking you, I'm just trying to point out to S8 not all of us have the time to battle non stop all day, I'll willingly spend gems on a 6 day tourney but 4? I feel like I'm being forced to.
I guess I'm just frustrated that the game seems to be demanding more and more gems and it's serving to make me less willing to spend them.

Anyway just my thoughts. 6 day's seems much fairer as the goal lines would be 7 days, I don't think it'll win any favors shortening times.
edit; also for those of us who suffer game crashes (and I really shouldn't on my brand new ((32gb)) tablet with only FFS and one other thing installed) no matter what we try, it just makes things harder.

Who ever decided to change the game strategy should take a long time out. First no apples with the tournaments, now we have to breed a rare animal during a story book, the world events has a broken prize link in the community prizes, the only way to get the birthstone ponies is through tournaments, the tournaments have shortened the days almost making it impossible to finish, and whatever happened to Taurus? I'm almost finished with the zodiac collection and where is the chance to win Taurus??? Newer players have to spend more coins just to expand to collect Treent and other animals hidden in the forest, and they need more runes in order to expand. The tournaments are much harder even though I have more level15 animals. And the game keeps crashing to really add to the mix.

Games should be fun not stressful. I can understand a challenge, but making events almost impossible is not my idea of relaxation or fun. Time to pull out my Kindle and renew my Netflix account. I'd save money and increase my vocabulary instead of losing sleep and setting timers. Very disappointed in the direction this game is headed.

No Poofyena I absolutely take no offense and do understand your point. Many people who play, have full time jobs and can't get on much at all (if any during the day) and that is hard. I'm lucky I can a couple times or so (not every) at mine. But I get what you're saying. I just try to win so many a day to stay abreast. Doesn't always work. I also get different people have a preference and maybe can breed a lot better than I. I stink at it. So when I win an animal through a tourney or spin to win or world events I enjoy it

I hope maybe the tournament itself is easier for everyone. I've had some that are a breeze, but painful for my daughter. And then vice verse. It's hard to peg. What would be nice would be a choice. A - choose tourney for this animal or B choose goal line. But I hear you.

I passed Round 15 in less a day but I struggled in Round 16 (Art Nouveau Horse) for the last 8 hours. I used Water/Earth of my Ultra Rares. Now I am trying Gemstone. The prospect of winning the tournament can go down substantially if you struggle like this 2-3 times along the way despite the early triumph. Good luck to all of us.

I beat the Art Nouveau with my Cthulhu. Both Gem and water are strong. So if you have a gem animal try the gem, if not try a strong water. Best of luck.

I'm on team tourney. I find goal lines virtually impossible, because my breeding success is nil. I don't win all my tournaments, but I win far more of them than I complete goal lines.

Well said!!! I agree completely. I hope S8 pays attention to us. I've already quit a few S8 games that I played for a long time (and spent money on). I hate to lose this one too.

And during the work week? I'm sorry, I have a job, like most people. I can't sit here getting on every hour. More days would be nice.It's frustrating when I log in at work, and an ultra rare level 15 can't beat a rare. So I risked getting in trouble at work for nothing. Why have these animals ranked if the ranking doesn't mean anything? I wish they would go back to tasks to earn the animals instead of tournament fights.

Its like you were reading my mind Mauilady7! I agree with everything you said, and want to add that runes should be easier to get. We should be able to ask friends, or win them like apples in tournaments. I won't be spending any gems on your new habitats when I can't earn enough runes to make an open space to put it. S8, its your loss. I have no reason to buy gems for the new habitats when I can't buy them due to space.

I like the tournament too. And to be honest initially I was pretty concerned and disappointed to see that this was a 30 round tournament that had to be completed in 3.5 days. However, after completing most of the tournament so easily I'm actually quite happy and impressed with it. This is how the tournaments should be, where the rounds are easy to pass.

Enchantalope gave me the most trouble this tourney too. FINALLY got it on my 7th try with Birthstone. Amethyst to be specific as Dark (even though I didn't attack with it) is a good element versus electric and rock.

Completed the tournament last night, meaning battling for 2 and a half days (see Post #7). This tournament is more reasonable than the previous one. I struggled in two rounds - Round 16 (Art Nouveaeu Pony 7 ties) and Round 29 (Topaz Tiger 5 times). Good luck to all still trying.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. We should be able to choose, and like you said, if you do both, you get two ponies. You can have duplicates of other animals, so why not the ponies? It's not like they earn gems or something.

Beat Topaz Tiger after using 4 attempts with dark, with Saggitarius used Zodiac. Only one round to go.

I got lucky with Topaz tiger and beat it first try using Dragonfly 15, Dark on second attack got me the critical. Now Emerald should be easy. It's got a double weakness to Fire attacks! This is probably the only justification for having a 4 day tourney, most of the opponents in this one were not super hard legendary types and the use of birthstone ponies in the line up means we've all had a chance to figure out their weaknesses (& prepare). That said I have been playing every hour on the hour while I was awake, I did still manage to get some sleep tho :D

Toughest opponents were art nouveau, puffalo, cuddly bear. Even for topaz tiger and emerald pony I managed to win in one round only. Phew!!

Oddly enough the hardest opponent for me was the poppy puppy. I think he was in this 3 times? It was either 2 or 3 times. But each time took me several tries. Topaz tiger went down on the first try. Could not believe that!! Emerald pony is hatched and living in my forest ☺

It bothers me to see some players so close to finishing but because of time and lack of gems they miss it. I play another game that allows me to purchase as a gift for another player something similar to gems. What ever I can buy for my self I can also buy for someone else. The cheapest purchase they have is $1.99. I am not rich but I can afford $2.00. This is great at Christmas for close friends. I don't know what is involved with something like this or even if it is worth doing but I wish the option was available.

Who ever decided to change the game strategy should take a long time out. First no apples with the tournaments, now we have to breed a rare animal during a story book, the world events has a broken prize link in the community prizes, the only way to get the birthstone ponies is through tournaments, the tournaments have shortened the days almost making it impossible to finish, and whatever happened to Taurus? I'm almost finished with the zodiac collection and where is the chance to win Taurus??? Newer players have to spend more coins just to expand to collect Treent and other animals hidden in the forest, and they need more runes in order to expand. The tournaments are much harder even though I have more level15 animals. And the game keeps crashing to really add to the mix.

Games should be fun not stressful. I can understand a challenge, but making events almost impossible is not my idea of relaxation or fun. Time to pull out my Kindle and renew my Netflix account. I'd save money and increase my vocabulary instead of losing sleep and setting timers. Very disappointed in the direction this game is headed.

I totally agree with you on all of this. I am also very disappointed in the direction of this game. I also play Dragon and Castle Story and it is getting too much. This might be the game I drop in the future. My iPad also only has so much memory and all these games are taking up too much memory.

OMG!!! I just finished the tourney with only 15 minutes to spare & that was me having to spend gems to redo lost rounds of to speed to next one. I only spent 38-42 gems doing that though, so it was worth it. My birthstone is a diamond & I have that one, but I want all 12. They stopped giving us the zodiacs. They were redoing them thru Aries, which I didn't have & got thru the tourney this year. They skipped Taurus which I need. How do they expect us to obtain Ophiuchus? I'm not about to pay for it. Sorry a little off topic. I guess my main point is PLEASE start making the tourneys a more reasonable time frame again.

So, this was an other tournament I lost. So I now don't have my own month (diamond) or this one. Shane cos there nice. I only have about 90 gems left as well so I wasn't prepared to spend them. Although, if I'm being honest I dbt tend to spend them on tournaments anyway cos 9 times out of 10 I lose the tournament. Very sad just now.
