Hey everyone!

In addition to your poll answer, feel free to comment on certain aspects of the goal you liked and disliked (for example: the theme, recipes, number of parts required, recipe duration, etc). Please keep the discussion on-topic; off-topic posts and comments will be removed as per forum policy.

The poll is anonymous, but you are welcome to share your opinion as part of the discussion. Additionally, please note that the poll will close one week after the goals expire. Thanks for your participation! :)

Omg please say we're having an update???

Yes, an update. If you like outer spacey stuff, you'll be thrilled.

I am very eager to see what is in that oven, but I have none of the parts so it may be a while before I can get them built. High hopes for cute alien things, like the martians in BS. 😀

I'm definitely liking what I've seen so far but it may take me a day or two to get them built as well. I'm also eager to see what recipes are in store

You are sceptic as always, my friend :)
They have nothing to do with bakery starry things but _literally_ letters (names/theme) :)
These items are much more beautiful!

There may be one or two items that have traveled from one galaxy to another, but a majority of the items are brand new for Restaurant Story only. Hope that clears things up!

To Slayer's credit, the two freely-available floor decorations are also in Bakery Story (or at least the astronaut is). But the rest of the content is fresh and original - and very nicely designed IMO :)

Ok :) Id like to see some more items switch between the 2 if they have matching themes :)

Thank you for that. I can never see the length of the goals and have to rely on the vanacatu threads for my info. :)

I got one built thanks to some of my awesome neighbors, courtesy of Steph, the world's greatest neighbor!! The other ovens will follow.

It used to take me several days just to get one built. God bless good neighbors.

I was going to go blue (lab), anyway, to get my food replicators out and make some sunshine cake, so this could not have come at a better time.

I don't mind the carry over astronaut & console, and I really like the final prize--I see a science center in my restaurant's near future--but I wish the walls were more actual starry, not the big cartoonish stars. But I can't remember right now if we already have a realistic starry night paper or if that's just in bakery.

Still not a fan of week long goals! It takes me forever to finish even 2 hour recipes without spoiling (though that's better than 1 hour recipes).

Having a new oven means I can get 9 more diamonds from it, this is the only reason why I'm going to deal with this new update!

What's the blue thing on the rightmost person? I can't tell if the partiers are wearing hats from various religions/traditions or if they're cosplaying the planets.

The tables and chairs are really pretty! I like how the table top makes it easy for you to ... space out..(pun intended) :D despite the wallpaper not exactly in galaxy decor category, it's still cute! Maybe make the stars smaller (similar to the ones on the table), and add some tiny planets.. an idea for future wallpaper? :)

And that oven! I don't know about you guys, but I really like it when the appliances can be used as decor as well. The prizes are also well designed, esp that space console.

Thanks for posting! and thumbs up S8!

I don't get it, don't we get one diamond after competing level 2 and another diamond after completing level 4 of an oven?

twospoons
04-24-17, 09:26 PM
Yes, and that's 2 gems for each recipe, and there are 3 recipes. So 6 total, not 9. Vici_10 just made a mistake, presumably she meant to say 6.

Thanks pcabral! It's much more useful to have normal dancers (and loving the continued diversity, s8!), but I admit I'm a little disappointed. Planetary cosplayers would just have been too funny.

I wish I could buy the oven without the silly spacesuit and dance floor to unlock recipies.
I am not going to spend money/gems to do that. Looks like more items that will never leave storage.
I don't mind specialty appliances, just hate wasting hard-earned coins on "decor" I will never use.
So much of this has nothing to do with restaurants...

Why have us need 20 new parts per appliance on a 7 day goal?
We can only get 20 requests & 20 gifts each day, and all the basic parts we have been collecting don't help.
*sigh*

04-25-17, 06:45 AM
I agree, 7 days is not long when it may take a few days just to get the parts for the new appliances.

I think it would be great if they would release more items from Bakery Story and vice versa. I would love to have the asian themed items from Bakery story and I would love the coffee items from Restaurant story in my bakery. I would love the other wall and floor tiles added too, and trees and bushes and other greenery. Decorating is what we play this game for...

Aw man :( I really wanted the final prize to be for coins after the last goal's final prize was made available for coins. Hopefully this is something we'll see yet with the next goals. I like buying duplicates, and I want them to be affordable!

I forgot to say this before: YIPPIE on counters being available when the first food is served!!! Would like to see that on EVERY goal. It's so ridiculous to have people serving food before they get the counter to place it upon.
I actually finished the BS goal with 5 days to spare lol. I very rarely have problems getting appliances built on BS I have great neighbors on my bakery idk whats going on with my restaurant neighbors though

My BS neighbors are better than RS, too. I think baking attracts a more conscientious group of people. ;)

Same here. I barely got my first appliance built. With the short time, I don't think I'm gonna be able to finish this goal.

This is why I like the 30 day goals, so everyone gets a chance to make goals!

I kind of like this theme. And see how it can be built upon.
Interplanetary aliens, a space door and host table, different vehicles.
Odd looking plants, flowers, trees. Deep Space wallpaper and floor.
Wormholes, time travel, a tavern with alien musicians! Endless possibilities!

You can use the futuristic theme and lab with this as well.

There may be one or two items that have traveled from one galaxy to another, but a majority of the items are brand new for Restaurant Story only. Hope that clears things up!

I was a little disappointed to see the items from BS as part of new content in RS. But I absolutely love the final goal prize! I only wish, there were wall decor items offered as part of the theme as well.

Thank you so much for the surprise Monday goal!!! It made my week.😊 Plus only 1 appliance and 3 foods to cook- without the insane quantities expected from past goals. Artwork is wonderful, colorful and fun!! Kudos to the team that created this stellar experience!!!

The final prize is just ok to me not into space theme update. It would be better to have longer goals so that ppl can finish their goals especially when summer comes around. I don't know if ppl notice but you can hurry the recipes up faster by watching ads. But there's a limit on how many ads you can watch in a day.

Oh, this must ve been good solution! But i never had and still dont have any promo videos. (Android).
The first i've seen was about 3-4 months ago in castle story, they work.
Then abt month ago appeared in fantasy story (work), and in dragon story - dont work, checking every day, always failed to load.
But in bs and rs i dont even have any icons still, so... good use for ios, no way to droids (((

Hey everyone!

The mods want to gather feedback on this goal set and we'd really appreciate your input. We've posted a poll on this thread to get your opinion on this goal set - did you enjoy this set of goals and its prizes? We want to know!

The quantity and time of the recipes is okay for me I dont mind short cook times. The only thing I didnt like about this goal is the amount of parts needed, it took me 3 days to build 4 ovens and I had to actually spend a lil bit of gems to do so.

callmetired
04-26-17, 02:02 PM
While I welcome the inclusion of existing parts, the ones chosen were so obscure that it really boils down to collecting THREE new parts instead of one.

So it's really only possible to build one oven per day if you're lucky. In theory 1.5 builds per day but don't count on that.

Tedious

Also, more side pieces would make it conducive to a well-rounded theme...the skimpy offerings always make me sad at what a cute scenario would have been possible if there was anything to make it worthwhile.

The goals are okay, I guess the theme is related to some current event.

On a positive note, I'm glad to see goals.

On a negative side, I've said it before and will say it again 7-8 days goals are too short, I still prefer 30 day goals that give us enough time to finish. Maybe I'm in the minority here but not everyone can check their game every couple hours especially at work, so all you got is the weekend to complete.
This particular goal should have been 15 days long to give low level players, folks short on coins and time limited members a chance at completing.

Thank you! :)

Yes, and that's 2 gems for each recipe, and there are 3 recipes. So 6 total, not 9. Vici_10 just made a mistake, presumably she meant to say 6.

Got it, thanks for the explanation, sometimes I can be quite daft.

Loving the goals, thank you TL / S8 they're great, keep them coming! One thing I've learned fro reading these forums is you'll never please everyone but your efforts are appreciated.

Would love it if you revitalized the original Farm Story, City Story and especially the Fairytale Wonderland story line. That game had so much potential!

It seems very well done, nicely detailed, creative and cute. The counters were available when the food was served, yay! Everything goes together nicely. Really well done. But I don't like outer space things, so when it's done, I won't use any of it.

Enough with big hunks of cheese.

There are so many parts to collect! If there is only a week to collect all that stuff and make the food, it will leave a lot of people (especially newbies!) out. That's frustrating for people who want to do the goal and cannot. When the game becomes too hard, they'll just quit. Shorter goals should require fewer parts. I do like the look of the star dust. That was cute.

I very much like that we didn't have to buy two of something we didn't want in the first place.

This theme goes well with the old Lab theme, so it was easy to use old items when decorating. Woot!

I get why people don't like short cook times. Doesn't bother me, but with short cook times, it's hard for many to get it all cooked in a week.

The stars were cute but a second color would've been nice. They're very blue!

I still don't know what that one person is wearing on their head. Is it a helmet? A babushka? I just don't know.

I now see a poll attached and voted.
And I will tell you my vote.

I disagreed!
Now as to why:

1. Although I do like the content, with these short goals
we don't get near the items as we did in the past with
a longer goal time.

2. I think the goals should remain as 30 day goals,
so everyone can participate and achieve goals!

3. Just seems lately the themes are coming outta nowhere.
No thought as to season, holidays, etc. It's as if S8 has
given up their creativity for RS1 & BS1 for the other games
they offer. Which BTW, I can no longer play because of constant
crashing. (Games I can no longer play, CS, DS, FS2, FFS, BS2 & RS2!)

Eh, my rant is done.

i voted middle, because of the question.

"are these goals enjoyable" & "do you like the content"
for me sounds kinda
do you like "sweet" & "bitter"

i do like sweet, but do not like bitter.

bitter is that these goals are not enjoyable.
1) they do not give any profit, even worse. building 4 appliances gives MINUS 130K.
2) doing everything with one appliance - wdn't even try. TOO SHORT TIME. i agree with the guys saying above that we have what to do in our lives than sitting in the game 24hrs.
i can understand, that flash-goals are meant for people to spend gems => to buy gems => to make company feel better.
but the summer is coming, PLEASE PLEASE TURN US BACK to ONE MONTH goals! please find another ways for players to spend more gems!

nevertheless, i voted middle just because SWEET is also here! :)
i absolutely love the content. it is awesome and very well designed, and for this - THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :)

Hee! and also ew. I've given up on wondering about the ingredients of dishes. Some of them are just too weird.

Since it's only 1 oven, I think this goal didn’t actually need to be a full month--I'd even have been happy with 12 days. I just need a couple days to build ovens, since I needed a bunch of parts, and then TWO weekends to actually cook, instead of one.

Other than that, I'm happy. Two largish decor pieces, plus smaller sundry bits, and a full suite of coin furnishings! (Walls, floors, tables, chairs & counters) Even if I didn’t love the design on every piece, I was glad it wasn't coin chairs & gem tables or the like. And overall, I think it's a fun theme. And I think repurposing BS items and mixing them in with new RS stuff is a good way to save yourselves a little effort, and still gives us decor things we may have wanted in this game. It was better this time than when the RS foods showed up in the BS sockhop goal.

Overall, I gave you an AGREE -- it would have been agree+ if that were an option, but it's not to the level of strongly agree.

I'm on the fence because..

Pros:

1) There's a goal, which means new appliances, new recipes, new decor. Even if they don't suit the theme now, they can be used to incorporate with other decor. So I'm cool with it. In a way, the goal makes me buy and earn stuff that I may not have the urge to buy on normal days as it doesn't suit my current theme or taste, but it's better to have something than nothing once it's locked after the goal is over. Yes, some of the items are quite pricey but it's just a game and coins can always be earned back. (maybe not so okay for newer players, so..make it a little less expensive?) And people change, so who knows one day I might want to have an outer space corner/theme in my resto, and that particular decor is just the thing that ties it all together. *shrugs* :)

2) Having goals makes the game more fun than just cooking food. I do like redecorating my restaurant, but it takes up a lot of time. Not everybody has the time to constantly change their restaurant's theme / layout.

Cons:

1) This one annoyed me the most during goals. There's this step whereby after you completed the servings required of the recipe and the next step requires you to visit (not your neighbours) and leave tips, before it unlocks the next recipe. Can the visiting and tipping be a side goal please? After completing the first recipe, it should unlock the second recipe so that we can carry on with the next goal. I don't have time to tip 12 ppl when taking a break from work after completing the first recipe step. Especially when the goal is only a week long, which brings me to my next point.

2) The cooking times of the food is too short. 4 hours is just right. I can start cooking after getting up in the morning, and then come back to unspoiled food during lunch break. With short cooking times, it's really stressful to keep up with the goal when it's ending in 1 week. So I agree with others on having a longer goal week. Not only that, you have to whip out so many servings per recipe. I don't mind the servings amount, but I do think it's a bit unfair on newer players who can't afford to buy more appliances to keep up with the goal. It's meant to be a game to relax.

Having said all that, I know that we can't please everybody but I hope they will consider my point of view too. RS and BS are the only games I have played so far and actually enjoy. Therefore, I would also like to express my sincerest thanks in coming up with these two games (amongst many others) for us to play.

I had to vote "disagree" on the poll, for the following reasons:

You lumped an opinion on the content of the update with an opinion on the goal, in the same poll.

CONTENT:

I like the floor tile a lot. It goes well with the wallpaper from the last goal. I sort of like the wallpaper, tables, chairs, and counters. I did not like the dance party, don't care about the space station, nor the hologram. The appliance is too expensive for the amount of food the recipes make.

GOAL:

I strongly dislike any goal that results in a LOSS. I really hate 7 day goals, strongly dislike 14 day goals, and especially hate goals comprised of short time recipes. I don't have time to be constantly checking the game. This appliance requires too many parts it is too expensive.

This is the worst cost/benefit analysis I've seen to date in this game. I doubt I will be participating in any more goals, either here or in bakery.

Jojocl141587

I think ppl here and in BS take the loss and profit of goals way too seriously. It's a game ppl ur not actually experiencing a loss of money when u lose coins, they can always be earned again. Second, if you're not going to participate in goals and spend coins to decorate and expand your restaurant or bakery what are u playing the game for at all?

Actually, with goals coming every week or two, if each results in a loss, the amount of money you have to decorate goes down. You have to spend all your time cooking recipes that have small amount of plates, so you can't just "cook more food" to make up the loss. You will never make your next expansion.

I've been playing this game long enough that I have lots of decorations. Really cool decorations. What I need is more space in which to display them.

OK, I changed my opinion on the Hologram. I actually rather like it now that it's placed. I prefer the space-themed content that we got in bakery some time ago. Especially since the appliances gave a decent amount of food, and one of the recipes earned six coins a plate (Gemini Gelato, I think). I loved the design on that goal. The recipes and plates were all adorable. That goal had a good profit. But this is a good prize.

The best part of these goals was no request-only parts. I loathe that newish requirement, hope to never see it again. And I will tell you that both the requests and gifts involved do not always work. I have 5 restaurants & 5 bakeries that I send requests between myself and there have been many, many MANY times that requests never arrive and parts sent disappear and never show up. NEVER.

The cooking times and yields are as usual, a joke. More useless ovens that will live in storage forever.

The tiles are meh, wallpaper okay, tho I notice many players, including me, are using better wallpaper we already have. The wallpaper might be useful in winter, I don't know.

I know people have been wanting a way to use up obscure parts left over from other goals, for some reason. All well and good but introducing yet another new part defeats the purpose--in essence the same as 3 new parts. Nobody had much star knobs etc to begin with...lotta parts!

Enough with the unnecessary new parts period!

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reorganize the parts.

Chiming in on this - it's not real money, as you said, but there are a number of other factors which make this unpopular.

For one, the goals' resulting in a net coin loss is a fairly new thing in Restaurant Story - it's something that started happening only a few months ago (late 2016). It may not have been very serious if we were getting 30-day goals (in which case, we'd have time to earn back money between goals, or even as the goal was going on), but with mini-goals, there's a much shorter window to recuperate your loss before another goal starts. And I'm saying this from the perspective of a high-level player who plays often - for lower-level and less-active players, the funds gap is harder to bridge.

Furthermore, since we get mini-goals very often, it's like having to choose between a 300,000 coin loss every few weeks, or the cost of seeing decor and other pieces locked as you scroll through the market. There's a compromise there, of course - no one's obliged to complete goals, and they can choose to complete as many steps as they'd like if they don't want to finish - but when goals resulted in a net coin profit, players didn't have to make this choice. And if you're losing around 600,000 a month if you do decide to complete the mini-goals, this makes it harder to save for expansions down the road.

Additionally, the expenses are a double-whammy when it comes to decorations. The high costs during the goals already reduce the number of coins you can use to buy decorations, and after the goals, if you choose to decorate with the newly-introduced items, the high prices drain your pocketbook further. If I wanted to decorate my restaurant with this space theme, for example, I'd still have to pay 6,000 coins per wallpaper and 2,500 coins (!!) per floor tile, which add up considerably as the size you intend to cover gets larger. Even though some themes are complemented by existing items in the market, which could potentially make a design cheaper, most goals introduce unique items to the game, and these items allow for more creative expression in one's space - which is another factor in the choice to complete goals to earn these prizes.

In a way, it's become a vicious cycle: the goals reduce the number of coins you can spend on decorations/expansions, and the high decor prices reduce your funds for the next goal. Can you earn some back by cooking other recipes in the meantime? Yes, but again, this isn't something players would have had to do in the past. It's also deeply concerning that the new appliance recipe profits, even when the recipes have been maxed out, won't cover the costs of the goals they've been introduced with.

There are other factors I'm not considering here (appliance costs, recipe serving sizes, etc) that also affect this issue, but to close this up: it's not just about losing coins. It's about what that loss of coins means for the other aspects of the game - and why we'd like to see goals returning to a coin-profit model.

I echo the sentiments of those who can't access their devices during the workday. I have given up on completing goals. A good portion of the week is spent trying to gather parts and my kitchen is full of stoves with two-hour recipes and the third one still locked. Sure, I could use gems, but that takes the fun out of it. It would be nice to have a happy medium.

As far as this theme goes, I'm not much into the space thing, but it was cute. I like the wallpaper and the astronaut and little gathering will work for a Halloween party.

People who work will have a very difficult time completing goals with short times on the ovens. Due to health reasons I'm not working now, so no problem. But several years ago, I quit playing a very popular online game because 1) It wanted me to do goals I couldn't do due to working and 2) It cluttered up the screen with reminders to do things I didn't want to do.

It became less cute with all the ads and I just got sick of the reminders. I never made the decision to quit. I just kind of got sick of the game bugging me, so I stopped. I don't even remember stopping, but I did.

It's a game. It's supposed to be fun. When the game becomes a chore or a pain, people quit playing. They don't quit because they're mad, they just aren't looking to be hassled by their entertainment. They'll go find some other way to occupy their time - one that isn't hassling them. Something that is FUN.

Only the unemployed can really complete these short goals without being obsessive.

Well said.
