I have found the following things help when using the threads to find information:
1. The first page usually has a summary of what is known of requirements needed for various stages of the event.
2. The last two pages usually have requirements for later stages of an event that may not have been posted to page one yet.
3. If you are able to follow the threads, log on early. Visit daily-usually there won't be more than 1 page of new posts so you should be able to follow what people discover as they complete requirements.
Any other tips out there that people have found?

4) If you are trying to find something a particular player posted, rather than going back through the whole thread, just click on that players name then click "view forum posts", you will be able to see a list of all of that players posts, starting with the most recent.

I'd also like to emphasize 1). Read page one first! It is a wealth of information.

5) if you want to pick up reading a thread from where you left off, click the name of the thread, then above the top post in the gray line are the blue words 'view first unread'. This will take to the last post you read in the thread. (Only if you want to read everything;))

You can do it quicker than that, even. On threads with unread posts, right before the thread title is a double arrow pointing down in a blue circle. Click on that, and it will open the thread at the first unread post.

thanks for the tip! :) SW

6) Read the thread from day 1 but wait a day or two to start the event so you know the obstacles you'll face and if you can overcome them. There are a couple of players who gem through events and/or have enough Alicorns that they provide most of the steps early enough in the time that you'll most likely be able to still finish. (Or realize there are insurmountable requirements and don't waste resources).

Thanks to those players who provide the invaluable information and tips on when and how long to stay on certain stages.
