"Coin" is a strategic resource acquired through either playing the game or by purchasing with gems. Coins are needed to buy all sorts of items and you will need large quantities of them in order to progress through the storyline.

How Many
There is no limit on how many coins you need, but even if you stick to the core game storyline and do all expansions, you will need 10's of millions of coins. Also, it is good practice to have a few million coins in reserve for timed quests. Timed events & quests often require the purchase of an expensive item or a lot of coin based items.

Sources
Nearly everything in the game produces coins to some extent:

Buildings
Farming
Animals
Decorations
Adventures
Goals
Daily Login
Inventory overrun (when an item cannot be stored anymore it is converted into 15 coins)

Note that selling an item might yield some coins, but avoid this option as the economics are not really in your favor.

Strategy
If you just play the game (tend animals, collect buildings, harvest crops, etc.), events and goals you will amass enough coins to make Scrooge McDuck droll. After you complete the main storyline, you are likely to quickly amass a huge stock pile of coins.

If you really need to get as much as possible coins on short notice; you should focus on coin producing game items, but this can come at a great energy cost.

Buildings that have been visited (tapped on a heart) by a neighbor will yield an additional 20% coins. It is therefore useful to have many active neighbors.

Animals to tend and resources to chop do not yield much coins, their purpose is different!

Special
Special cases with decoration dropping materials, for every drop above the cap, the game converts it into a 15 coins drop. This feature can be exploited to generate high coin drops. This comes however at a high energy cost.

Looking into that, I though it once but discard it as it might be too advanced for most player. A yield per plot per hour (YPPPH) ratio could be added.

I collect from buildings and items daily. Was curious if anyone had a go to building or other item they rely on for high coins. Upgrading shops and many require high coin count. Just hoping to speed up versus just buying coins. Thanks!

Ginnyfe

How do you get a lot coins without spending all your energy?
When the mermaid storyline started, this really became the big question.

These are my top 3 tips. I'm asking you to share your ideas!

Stategy 1: Planting Fellora.

Planting Fellora earns you 1.650 coins per energy. So if you have 50 plots, you'll get 82.500 coins in every two days.
The downside is that planting Fellora costs a lot, so you'll have a lot money stuck on the field while planting.
Planting carrots is cheaper and also I good choice but doesn't earn as much money, they're 450 coins per energy.

Stategy 2: Marketplaces and other buildings

When it comes to buldings and coins, you'll have to think how big they are, how much coins per energy you get and how often you can collect them, so it's complicated. I don't think you should spend energy on buildings that give less than 500 coins per energy.

+ Consider putting these on you board and collecting them regularly: Marketplaces (many), Observatory, Theater, Tavern, Windmills, Cathedral, Amphitheater. If you like the look, that's a bonus. (I have a corner in my kingdom that I only check once every morning to collect the 22 h timer buildings, so the look doesn't really matter.)
+ Best coins come from main storyline buildings like Tablet of Tabernum, Forgotten Roost and Troll pit. They're 1.000+ coins per energy.
+ Events have often great buildings that keep giving 700-1.000 coins in every 4 hours or so, and only take 2x2 space. These buildings are all from 2018 events and are still great coin makers:
45018

+ Some pets give about 500 coins per energy as well! All the gnomes, some horses, mothraki knight. They're great because they take so little space and you can collect them often. And you get other great drops on top of the money!

Strategy 3: Buy Gentleman Trolls or Nagas in Baron's Tent.

From time to time Baron's Tent sells pets that help you make money trades on the Royal Exchange. Use gems if you don't have a Cabbage Hut.

+ Gentleman Trolls have been on the tent 3 times (I think) and they're my best investment ever. You can collect the troll once in an hour(!) and get 1-2 troll horns every time. So it's realistic to make Troll Hunter trade of 25.000 coins every night. Plus you'll get a great pile of trade tickets! If you need more bones and creep teeth, make some Fangpups in Ivy's magic nursery.
45019

+ Nagas are another option, but you'll need a lot of them. If you have 1 Naga and collect it once a day (22 h collection time), you can make one 45.000 trade in about every two weeks.

I know there's a thread on the hub on this topic, but I didn't get much real help there. I'm asking for practical strategies to get 10.000s of money every day on this game! Please share yours!

Blythe Faerie House and Glimmer Faerie House both give over 2000 coins per click (12 hour timer) if you build them up to level 5. And they are only 1x1. I have seven. They count as town buildings, so I would have to sell another building to get an extra one.

HOW TO GAIN 2500 COINS HOURLY...

As you are collecting from assets, you cannot receive most items which your inventory has 99 of... You receive coins in their place.

A Strawberry costs 60 coins. If harvested when 99 are already in your inventory, you receive 185 coins instead: a 125-coin profit!

Since Strawberries take 1 hour to grow, and you gain 20 energy units in 1 hour, it is best to grow 20 at once (or 40 over 2 hours).

This yields: 2500 coins in 1 hour, or 40000 coins over 16 hours! (To compare... five level-5 Farmhouses yield 1960 coins hourly.)

THIS IS THE FASTEST WAY IN THE GAME TO GAIN COINS.

Thanks....sold 4 farmhouses, which only opened up only 3 more slots for fairy houses. Strange math here as always

Blythe Faerie House and Glimmer Faerie House both give over 2000 coins per click (12 hour timer) if you build them up to level 5. And they are only 1x1. I have seven. They count as town buildings, so I would have to sell another building to get an extra one.

Faerie bulbs, blythe faerie house and glimmer faerie house are massive coun makers, and well worth the effort of maximum uograde. I have 11 of them, well worth it. Plus planting fellora, which DOES now double income w double crop elven boost!!! Yay!!

I don't have these buildings yet.
I have limited energy, so I have to look at coins per click, not per hour. Anything less than $500 per click is in the bank. Some may come out for Weekday Warrior, if I have room.

Forgotten Roost is prime for coins per click, of course.

I was amazed by the event thread when the kitsunicorn and associated pond turned out to drop 2000+ coins! They were headed for my bank until I learned this!!

So I decided to also keep out items dropping $1000 coins, but only click them when I have extra energy. My first items are the Ring Bearer etc from the wedding event.

So I'm looking for event items with tasty cash drops. I only joined in March 2018, so I don't have historical items. But I will be watching out for these in future and I hope that others will, too!

[Edit] list of 2000+ droppers:
Forgotten Roost - main storyline
Kitsunecorn and Pond - 22 Nov 2018
Great Holiday Tree (lv. 6) - 20 Dec 2018
Snow Castle - 10 Jan 2019
Wee Carriage - 24 Jan 2019
Genevieve's Chaise - 31 Feb 2019

A big refresh of the yields. So many new items that it is now possible to have very decent coin generators.

DO we have a list of items that can be sold such as Pumpkin Hutch and Queen Carriage that generate a decent amount of coins? If so where is it. If not I would like to compile a list.

Yeah some things I would never sell but I dont really need 44 Winter Gates much less the bottom tier stuff.

Thanks for the Info!

You cannot chop bushes or shrubs, they are a collection only item.... (happy you found the Info nugget! :))

I'm not sure if this is viable as well, but the Mermaid Grotto Level 6 is a 2 hour collection time and I regularly get 700 gold per collection. Not the best but better than nothing. Also I've regularly hit up my Pot of Golds whenever I can.

Pot of Gold
Info: A happy little gnome sitting in a pot of gold! Visit him for a chance at Golden Nuggets, Golden Eggs, and Golden Apples!
Crafted: Workshop during Press Your Luck event
Drops: 1124/2214 or 10,000 coins, golden apples, golden eggs, golden nuggets
Collection time: 5 hours

Someone posted in a separate thread that they were struggling with enough coins for expansion. It reminded me that there are so many ways of playing and where I am in the game and what has worked for me is different than most of what I?ve read, so I thought I?d mention it unless someone is in a similar place. I played for years but I stopped for a while and had a coin shortage for the first time ever when I started playing again. I have a lot of open storylines for the first time and there are more frequent updates I want to participate in, so it?s harder to devote energy to items for coin collection. Event collections don?t yield nearly as many coins as my usual money making collections, but I enjoy them. What has helped me the most is to set aside the mermaid and gnomish goals as ?extra energy? collections since they are really expensive storylines. Right now I focus on one story at a time, along with the current event, and I?m starting to stock up coins again through regular gameplay. With mermaid and gnomish goals I focus more on collecting from chests, etc. instead of chopping expensive objects. I?ll eventually come back to chopping for these but in the meantime I can continue to slowly expand while actually playing. I still have many plots where I?ve paid the lanterns and expansion permits but can?t yet part with a million coins but this has helped me.
