Someone briefly explain to me the posting guidelines for tournaments and also ooh, a tourneyament, how exciting!! I've been having fun with the battles recently, but I suspect this will put a crimp in my getting a second northern light dragon so quick!! I have nothing above level 10. And do not plan to get anything for this. Can I win with only level 10's?

Thanks Marathon2615, I'm sure it will be difficult, but I sadly do not currently have money for either the statue or feeding dragons higher, or the space to put it! So I will see how it goes :) I'll get higher eventually, but I don't think it's going to be for this time :)

You can, but I would recommend getting a few dragons up to 15. My fire 15 is very dominant and my metal 15 takes care of most of the champs in tournaments (not all, but most). I know it is difficult to get enough food, though. :) Good luck.

Everyone has their own sort of format but the parts you see at the end is the way I beat that particular dragon. First try magic, second try bash which took out the opponent. The ++ means that it was enough of a critical hit to take out about 2/3rds of the opponent's power. If I used one + sign it took out maybe half the power, if I do a m+++ or b+++ it means it was a KO. Some people use plus signs, others make the M or B capital to show it was a critical hit.

You can use a "magic" (M/m/m+/m++) or a "bash" (B/b/b+/b++) attack against dragons in the arena.

When reporting results of your battle, "mb++" is the same thing as "mB." Using either notation indicates that (in the case quoted above) a Duchess level 7 dragon was used against an Ice Knight level 1 dragon. The attack used was:

-(m) magic hit... damage to opponent was not "critical" (indicated by the use of a lowercase letter)
-(b++) bash hit... and this hit was "critical," in other words the Ice Knight took a critical amount of damage after this hit. In this case, no other attack was necessary b/c the Ice Knight died after the bash. This is indicated by either an uppercase letter or a lowercase letter that's followed by a plus sign.

This is sound advice. A lvl 15 metal and fire should def be priority. You can do alot with just those two.

Nice job S8 way to make the game fun.

I'd use a black hybrid lower than level 10. I used my level 9 Dark Angel but only as an experiment. I'd say try something like a Night, Archangel, Siamese, Goblin or something exotic like Cursed Rose or any black tournament boss like Gatekeeper, Avalanche or Villainess.
Also try not to use a dragon that's more than 10 levels above an opponent. I found more losses that way.

Yup works best at L-15 but choose opponents with hope :)

This is sound advice. A lvl 15 metal and fire should def be priority. You can do alot with just those two.

The top of my list are Glasswing/Rainbow Sentinel and Light Mother if you managed to get one of those.

From the breedable ones, the Double and Triple Rainbow should be your goal.

Yep I always say you have to factor in your dragon's level along with color combo when it comes to battle. The advice of using baby dragons against champions can be reversed when using a level 15 dragon against a level 1 dragon. This is why I try my level 15s later in tourneys.

LOL, for some reason I have much more success with Infinity 15 than I do with Diamond 15 (weird since they're the same type).

Zaaracake are you taking account of type advantages? I've found them very effective mostly, they seem (to me, so limited axamples) to have more importance than level and certainly than rarity. My best dragon is Air, and to a slightly lesser extent Fire, Water and Forest (so far). All of which are common, and yet all kick butt against super rare.

Lacewing, Spring, Snap. Pretty much any high level pink hybrid has a 55% chance of beating Night Imp. Also Below, Hidden Gem, Knightmare, Black Cat or Pot of Gold have the same percentage.

i finally bred a diamond recently, and had sent out to battle at level 10, generally it loses to its opponent.
not really what i hoped for.

perhaps diamond is only useful when it is at level 15?

My level 15 Diamond is only decent up to battle 19 and is garbage from 20-30. This is why I must save enough food to get Infinity from 12 to 15. After that I might trade the Diamond since I have 4 others.

Zaaracake are you taking account of type advantages? I've found them very effective mostly, they seem (to me, so limited axamples) to have more importance than level and certainly than rarity. My best dragon is Air, and to a slightly lesser extent Fire, Water and Forest (so far). All of which are common, and yet all kick butt against super rare.


I say take out the Winter Lily with any black hybrid level 7 or better.

@katali119, yes after reading your comment I have started to do so. So far I have always battled 'intuitively' (I beat sweater with white rose cuz sweaters are ruined by roses, for example) and sometimes this yields spectacular results, but mostly it fails badly. Air helped me finally take down NorthStar, so thank you very much.

@starship412, I beat her with carnival before I read this note (sorry it was too late at night here) but I will keep the hint in mind for next time, I'm posting my list in the next thread so that it stays separate from comments!

Not everyone, Dragosle, not everyone has won every tourno since his introduction thru to the end although I guess most people here have won every corrupt shard (or whatever) that's been up for grabs. And while it's great to see everyone's excitement and I'm genuinely happy for the people who will be finally be able to craft him after this tourno, I'm ALSO terrified that they'll yank him out of the craft shop immediately post this.
I only have five corrupt thingys cuz I only clued in to his existence very late. So I really hope they give weaker battlers some more time and chances to craft The Dark One.

I'm scared to death to see what happens after this tournament as far as the dark one. I will be lacking ONE and only one Corrupt crystal. I didn't get the one for defeating the dark prime chrono in the first tournament. If there's no other way to make it up I'm going to royally POed.

I just have to share in case it can help someone else. I'm not feeling well so I didn't do a lot of research or use much strategy when choosing which dragons to use. I've won almost every battle with my level 12 glasswing. I thought I might as well keep using it since it was doing so well and if it lost, I would take more time when choosing another one to try. For the champion, Centurian, my level 14 diamond lost so next time I tried my forgefather 12, which worked! I didn't have any other of the dragons listed to fight champions on the matrix chart. I don't have any level 15 dragons, so don't give up to those who don't either. Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure if you got pass Mire yet, but I've been using my lvl 14 Ice Giant for most of the rounds and now I'm heading to Round 25, Corrupt Stalwart (don't look forward to it).

And if anyone is stuck on round 23, Paladin, I used lvl 10 Forgefather since I don't have any ADIPPS and Metal dragon. And for round 24, Prime Chroma, I used my lvl 7 Stalwart.

Hey, don't know if you are throwing level 15's at the lower dragons, but most people do a lot better when their dragons are closer in levels... like your level 6 (or less) against the opponent level one... I have also observed better results from battles less than 6 levels apart.

I have luck with corrupt dragons with Adventure (yellow/green, super rare, unbreadable) - if you have something simmiliar try that. Also ppl said white hybrids (white/something) had luck also.

Little hero did not win for me.

I think I'll stop for now and concentrate on Wreath since I've been stuck at this place since late last night/very early this morning. I'm thinking of nuking, but I guess I will wait 8 hours till my Metal evolves to L10 and give him one more go. It's not just Ice Knight. It's The Dark One I really want. Kicking myself for missing the corrupt tourno.

It's bad enough I had to ultimate corrupt stalwart after a few losses to get the last crystal to start crafting "The Dark One", so I don't want to use it again and still have to deal with glass wing too.
These tournaments have now gotten ridiculously HARDER with so many champs and new corrupt dragons added every time, that's it's no longer enjoyable. I'm convinced that its deliberately set up that way on certain rounds to cause major losses against one dragon,so GOLD will be spent to get pass it. During regular battles, you face the same opponents and get them down with ease, but yet loss 10-30 times or more on the same dragon when it's a tournament, it doesn't make sense to me...
If I manage to finish this one, I will be taking a much needed break from tournaments, it's just too stressful and frustrating for me....

If you don't have Diamond, you can try something against Royal part like White, Pink, Gold, Champion but don't try Gemstone - it is weak against Diamond

I just knew there would be a dragon tales while the tournament was still going. Last time, I didn't get to the level needed for the tourney til after I'd done the first lot of battle the tales needed, and I didn't start the tournament til I needed to do the second lot. I saw everyone distressed about having to win 3 battles when they had the corrupts to face. I knew it would happen to me this time! Fingers crossed winning battles will not be part of it this time.

Not sure about posting guidelines. Sure it is possible with level 10 dragons. We have only recently had the ability to raise dragons above 10.
A lot depends upon what type(s) your level 10's are.

Someone briefly explain to me the posting guidelines for tournaments and also ooh, a tourneyament, how exciting!! I've been having fun with the battles recently, but I suspect this will put a crimp in my getting a second northern light dragon so quick!! I have nothing above level 10. And do not plan to get anything for this. Can I win with only level 10's?

I don't know where this came from, but it's not correct.
Avoiding metal against a Champion is wrong. I've had at least similar (subjectively even better) results with my Metal 15 than with Diamond 15 against Champion.

FYI: I've beaten both the Corrupt Stalwart 20 and Glasswing 20 with my Metal dragon.

Hey, don't know if you are throwing level 15's at the lower dragons, but most people do a lot better when their dragons are closer in levels... like your level 6 (or less) against the opponent level one... I have also observed better results from battles less than 6 levels apart.

Kido's Metal15 just chrushed corrupt Stalwart with one big B almost a KO, and then small b... interesting Kid still have no lose this tournament, while I on main have some... just got to Glasswing on main account and, of course, my pacifist Diamond15 lost with not being even close to win. On secondary had to beat Paladin again, game bring it back :(

Agreed. For the majority of the time Metal lvl 15 dominates champions. It didn't work against Glasswing but that was a rare exception.

Since I'm skipping tales, I'm going to use my food to get Huntress to a 10, maybe light mother to a 10 (haven't decided on her yet) and then what? My Valkyrie is very solid at a 10. I've got Valiant at a 13 (one bite left until 14), Achilles at a 10. Should either of these be next or should I work on my fire, air, or other solids colors???

I noticed a trend with those battle 25 champions, the dragons from the Dragon Tales right before the tournaments are getting effective against them. That's why I was like, well, let me try Ice Giant since my level 15 Diamond disappointed me for the 1600th time.

Before each battle I use a combo of checking the Battle calculator & I read all the results posted here from others, and use a combination of the most used/successful types. I have found with a lot of battles the strongest choice may lose but after healing I try them again and they typically win. My results are posted on Page 7. Hope it helps!!

I got Corrupt Stalwart with Chronicler, as well as the other Corrupt dragons this tournament, maybe it helps someone. I feel the Corrupt dragons are weak against white hybrids although I've also had some good fortune with Little Hero (pink-blue-purple).

Glasswing was a KO by Diamond 15. Ice Knight was a KO by Skeletal Kight 15. Great easy to end the tourney!!! He's on the nest now, Dark One crafting. Nothing to do but relax the rest of the weekend :-)

You can collect the north poles after the tournament is over, and most of the time it is much easier to win battles.

Not everyone, Dragosle, not everyone has won every tourno since his introduction thru to the end although I guess most people here have won every corrupt shard (or whatever) that's been up for grabs. And while it's great to see everyone's excitement and I'm genuinely happy for the people who will be finally be able to craft him after this tourno, I'm ALSO terrified that they'll yank him out of the craft shop immediately post this.
I only have five corrupt thingys cuz I only clued in to his existence very late. So I really hope they give weaker battlers some more time and chances to craft The Dark One.

I have the same theory too with the dragons from the most recent Dragon Tales producing great results during battle. Also with corrupt dragons, Dragons who were fighting corrupts in DT in storyline wise also does pretty well fighting corrupts in battles such as Chroniculer, Whiteglass, Lil Hero, Forgefather against Champs (since I don't have any ADIPPS or Metal), Adventure, etc...I think maybe their high level also plays a factor b/c they're my only high level dragons currently.

Well anyways, now I'm stuck on the beautiful Glasswing. Been bashing at it with Lil Hero, lvl 10 Glasswing, Ice Giant, Forgefather and Element (though this one seemed pretty close).

I'd say throw him into battle every now and then... my Metal 15 was the same way; pretty useless right after I got him to 15. Super frustrating, but he's won several champ battles now. I'd guesstimate his win rate to be around 30-40%. My Metal 15 is unfortunately pretty hit-or-miss, but when I'm up against a nasty champ in a tourney, he can sometimes surprise me!

Oh Dr0g0n I've literally tried everything! The losses are as @saghaven puts it, too many to count. I have Metal which I fed up to L12 and a Dia which I got up to L11 JUST for Centurion and (seeing your earlier tip) my L12 Ice Giant.
Ice Giant is a hard worker, he sure does try. So do some of the toddlers. I almost got the Mother of Evil with a Level 1 Wild baby. Almost.
Regarding ADIPPS my Dia is so darn peaceful she is definitely channeling the combined spirits of Gandhi and Aung San Suu Kyi.
And my absobloomingly c**p (insert word which rhymes with crop) Metal dragon seems to sit down in the middle of battle and think trippy thoughts about his afterlife in the Great Sky Junkyard.
Is there a Maximus Decimus Meridius dragon? I need him. He'd crush a mere Centurion.
And then I can at least get some corrupt thingys.

I tried Diamond over and over in addition to Playful, Little Hero, Infinity and about a dozen others. Keep healing/trying a high level Diamond. Best of luck to you!

I am thoroughly stuck on Paladin. Run out of dragons twice. Trying to build up apples to raise some of my dragons higher, won't help for this tournament though! I have about 5 corrupt crystals, and I really want that dragon cos it seems like he'll kick butt lol so I really hope he's hanging around for another couple years :D

Any advice from seasoned battlers: I reckon it will take me about 7-10 days to raise enough food to raise any of my dragons from 10-15. Would you raise them one at a time, or would you raise several to level 11, then 12 etc at the same time?

Well it depends. I would go to 2 dragons to bring to 15 first, but it needs a lot of food (for example, Fire level 1 to 15 need "only" 173,115 food, and for example Glasswing need 886,450 food for level 1 to level 15).

For leveling 1-10, minimum is Fire - 9,615 food, and dragons like Glasswing need much more, max is 125,000.

So, depending how much food you have, you can plan when and which dragon to evolve. Diamond is not so expensive to level to 15 (205,345 food to get 1 to 15), but dragons like Immortal which is on my main account level 14 already took 618,950 food to get there... and need more 267,500 to get to 15.

Ouch! Yes, I have a calculator showing me how long it will take with different food types, and how much it will cost. Gonna go for Fire, Metal, Air, Marshmallow and Diamond first. I do not have Glasswing, but will go all out next time there's a rainbow champion around, they seem to be everyone's favourite. My Diamond is currently evolving to 7, but I also need him for the income, and evolving takes a long time for him, so he will probably be the last of the first batch I try and get that high! I don't have the income to keep planting the super expensive food right now so it's gonna take ages. If the last month is any indication, I should have about a month til the next tournament, and I'm skipping the dragon tales after the first dragon because I do not want to spend that time getting food for a dragon I'm not bothered about instead of a future arena champ :)

Well, I finally got the noble thingyumyjig, and levelled my Metal up to 11 (all I had food for) and it instantly got not 1 but 2 critical hits against Paladin. Dunno what the chances are of finishing having lost 2 days on that flipping thing, but I'm hoping!

I say focus on bringing thay Metal up to level 15. And with all mine I brought them up to lvl 15 one at a time rather than all to 11 then all to 12 and so on.

Don't give up I took 24 losses before he finally went down. But he DID go down.

Ah, well. I bought the Diamond temple on sale for the 60 gold, and got Diamond about 4 days in. So I bred it, but with the help of gold lol.

It really does! I'm looking forward to it coming back on sale so I can get a few more, cos I've tried for the fire/forest hybrid ones a lot and got nothing lol. Sadly what with 44 hours for hatching and 44 to evolve to lvl 4, there was no time to actually breed from it before my temple ran out!

Kid just got Glasswing with Black swan7 Bb! Finally! We thought how Kitsune worked on some - so try this or Kitsune7. Kid selected this one and it worked!

Finished the tournament yesterday, sped up a few rounds against a very annoying Glasswing. Egg is in storage, waiting for a nest (Dang, that Dark thing takes a lot of time :p) and quit battling as I have enough north poles.

Funny thing. Today I raised my second account to level 32 and started a battle to get my 75th north pole over there, and realized I was playing the tournament :D So no way of finishing it with only 18 hours left, but just battling because I can. Besides that, I'm only keeping dragons here that I bred or crafted with gems, any other will be traded or sold in the end. Although some may stay for a while, purely for the coins :p

Anyway, I will add the few results to my list. Guess that will be a double lenght post from next tournament on ;)

By the way, as everybody knows, my favourite fighters are Fire, Air and Forest. It looks like it works the same on my second account, these three are level 10 and beating down nearly everything what comes down their path. So to everybody struggling to decide which dragons to raise: Fire, Forest, Air and Water eat the least and cost the least amount of coins while healing. This might be important to (especially new) players.
And, when raised to level 15, you can occasionally try to breed for the primes.

But it's your own choice after all. Good luck to those still fighting, congrats to those finished ;)

Try tickling them: Buy a baby Fire or Forest and bash-bash-bash :) Sometimes it works, if not, sell the baby and buy a new one. Saves coins and spa time ;)

I just beat Corrupt Stalwart and as soon as the victory screen popped up the game crashed and of course the win didn't count and I had to do the battle again and big shocker I lost with the same dragon! This needs to be taken care of and quick! This is not right!

Meh, gave up on this tourney. I had over 30 losses (total) BEFORE I got to Crown Jewel and was on loss #5/6 to CJ when I decided I didn't care anymore... especially with all these frightful Glasswing stories!

I track all of my battles and it really gets me going when I have recorded win after win with a certain dragon against a particular opponent, then get to a tourney and all the sudden that dragon doesn't win anymore. Rather shiesty of you, Storm8.

I got all the crystals I could & don't really care about the Ice Knight, so I decided to have a stress-free evening! I stopped playing Bingo for this very reason too! I hate tales and don't participate in the leaderboards.... it's great!

I hope you finish. I'm still bashing on as @marathon2615 advised me to but have made very little progress. My only satisfaction has been to see that Mother of Evil fold like a cheap pack of cards against my Maple 13 bM (why, why didn't I try this before?). 4 days! 4 days in one place messed up this tourney for me. Still, I have the hope of getting one more corrupt thingy if I can beat Corrupt Plague in the two hours that's left...
Now I'm gonna do as @Bastiaan0 suggests and focus on getting my Primaries up to L15.

Well it took me 2.5 days (about 45 battles) to beat Corrupt Stalwart (with 3mins to spare), so glad I held off the Tales until it auto-started. Though at least I got all the corrupt stones, so only need 2 more before I can start crafting.

In November there was 4 tournaments (4, 3, 3 and 6 days) . In December just one so far of 6 days, I'm expecting 1 or 2 more... so nothing about month more :( Maybe tomorrow starts another 6 days? Or on Friday 3 days Christmas tournament with Corrupt Stalwart to get? (aldo not my Christmas, I'm Orthodox)

Oh pants. There were?! I only remember one, started for me some point through the last dragon tales when I hit the level requirement. Well then I best get growing! I don't mind Christmas stuff so much, I'll be with my family Christmas day, but boxing day we spend at my in-laws, and they spend the day glaring at me for not being in the kitchen and my husband helping out instead, so I'm happy to have things to do to occupy myself!

Month before:
September 30 (and 2 days of October), 3 days, Hydra dragon
October 7, 12 days, Dark prime chrono dragon
October 21, 3 days, Spirit dragon
October 25, 6 days, Cobra dragon

So usually 4 tournaments per month, this December we had unusual more then 2 week without tournament. Usually tournaments starts on Tuesday or Friday.

Oh. Think it was the white bengal I hit the middle of. I'm noticing now I have the noble crystal thingy the dragons I'm getting in non tournament battles are higher level than before. Which I guess is good practice, but it gives me more "please please please" moments than I was having lol! Trying to get my Diamond up to 9 today so I can put him back on to evolve. 9-10 is the last evolution right? Then I'll be growing for Metal :)

Yes, until you buy noble crystal for 500.000 max evolving is level 10. After that is level 15.

No! Lv 10 is "Epic" stage, you can still level up your dragons to level 15 with the Noble Crystal but you won't have to evolve them anymore.

Hopefully they'll still be available to win & not crazy difficult to get (looking at you high levelled & difficult to beat corrupt dragons)..
