I keep hoping for normal sized dcorations and goal prizes, instead of huge space taking and sometimes useless and ugly ones.
Was totally thrilled when the prize for completing the 2016 Thanksgiving Goal was a Wooden Turkey decoration. It is large enough to get attention, but not so large that it takes up to 1/4th of a smaller restaurant.

Not a mod, but: I got a gem sale at reset, and it's set to expire in a little less than 2 hours, as opposed to the usual 24-hour duration. Based on that, it looks like sales will start after 9:30 PST.

((Again, not a mod, so it's entirely possible I could be wrong; I'm just working with the information I have))

That's because the sale hasn't started yet :) When it starts, you should see the sale items in your floor decorations tab in the design bar.

Usually, this weekend sees daily sales lasting through Cγber Monday. That is, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will all have their own sales lasting about a day each. HOWEVER, Black Friday has the best selection of items at the best prices.


The sales for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday tend to bring back the same items Black Friday had, but at a higher price (i.e, with less of a discount). For example, items that may have been 30% off on Black Friday will be 20% off during weekend sales.


Also, historically, not all of the Black Friday items are brought back through the weekend! From the selection of items on Black Friday, some are brought back on Saturday, some on Sunday, and some on Monday, but not all of them.


Black Friday sales may expire early! 2 years ago, the sale items were pulled from the market with 4 hours still left on the sale timer. So don't wait until the last minute to make your sales! It may also be a good idea to keep track of what you wanted to buy and how much they cost in case this does happen.


Keep track of your gem count! During a Christmas sale a few years ago, I noticed that the items I bought actually cost more than their listed price. The glitch was fixed, and support was able to refund me the difference of gems, but be careful! A little math goes a long way :)

I should have known nothing decent would be available after we didnt get these things released earlier last night. They knew we would have been throwing internet fits.

Not even the expansions are on sale. No gem sales. Its a huge failure.

Ill get the jazz band because I was upset with myself for missing it before. Especially being from N.O.

I refuse to buy gems to mess with boxes.

Ha, I've spent the last hour on the forums searching out pics of all the crates for the same reason! So far, I'm really liking the looks of the Snowman Hat, the Holiday Crate (though this one has mostly large items), and the Holiday Gift Box (this one has a lot of great smaller pieces). I've been playing for 6 months so I can't comment on previous Black Friday sales. However, the variety of items offered today is truly underwhelming, and does not in any way constitute "amazing deals". Really AMAZING Black Friday deals would have included some combination of the following:

* All boxes/crates for 6 gems (reg. 24 gems - 75% off)
* All expansions for 10-38 gems (reg. 40-150 gems - 75% off). The same 75% off the coins cost
* New appliance slots for 20 gems (reg. 49 gems - 60% off)
* Sonic/forever appliances for 12-21 gems (reg. 25-42 gems - 50%)
* Selected high-priced and/or gem-priced furniture, wall/floor decor, wall panels/floor tiles, appliances and counters 40% off
* All gems packages 40% off

Players would have been eager to use the gems they have and probably purchase more. The persons who play this game do so because they enjoy it immensely. I've set my alarm for 1 or 2 am (more than once) to wake me so I can serve dishes so they don't rot before I awake in the morning. The game has its annoyances and shortcomings, but we continue to play day after day.

It is obvious that some of the more seasoned players knew from past experiences to temper their excitement. I, on the other hand, probably opened my game 50 times, all morning, eagerly awaiting the "amazing deals".

It is challenging enough to remain motivated by RS. Surely, for one day, Storm8 could have AMAZED its loyal players.

P.S. A local cineplex held a $10 Movie Day (reg. $60) last Monday from 8:30 am?11:30 pm. 24,383 tickets were sold on the day. Did every person who went to the movies that day desperately want to see those films? I doubt it. But the price was right.

FACT: Humans respond to bargains (something you don't really need at a price you can't refuse). Do any of us need a fake Koi pond in our fake restaurant? Nope. But if the price is right? I'll take 5.

After reading all the posts I think it's safe to assume the crates are a dud! actually the whole Black Friday is a big fat dud!

I have spent too many gems (my choice) to get an item only to have a repeat!
I tried for the grand piano, hayrides and Clydesdale only to be disappointed. Isn't there some other way to get the items we WANT!?!

It's really kinda shady. I would be happy to spend gems on what I really want.
For Christmas we should be able to pick a couple of items we want out of a few crates!!!!!!

Regarding the gem sale I'm thoroughly disappointed. Why not 50% at least for one day!!!
Team Lava I hope you read all of these posts and give us some customer satisfaction.

I only bought the pizza tosser i think its a prize of old goal thank God they offered it for sale coz i missed it i was hesitant to buy the jazz band coz i already have an irish band and they seem look the same in some way i want to open a crate but i might end up getting unlucky i might as well save my gems for christmas sales hopefully next week

With the advent of Thankful Chef Lee and the Pizza Tosser, I wanted to post a picture of the duplicates side by side. It looks like the Black Friday offerings are a slight recoloring of the original goal prize :)

This is just a theory: the recolors are not available to those who earned the prizes back in their original goal set. The Pizza Tosser, for example, was not available to me, but the Pizza Toss is and was for its coin price.

I, for one, am very supportive of this new trend ;) And, of course, I'm hoping it can happen to the Leaf Pile in the future. Heck, give the girlie a different color dress and call it 'Autumn Leaf Fun' or something and I'll buy a ton of 'em! :D

That is, of course, assuming that players who participated in the goals but weren't able to finish are still able to buy the duplicates. It sucks that players who started but weren't able to finish goals can't participate in re-released goals :(

@rynetory2 or @Kooky Panda, feel free to add the two images to the first post with the other Black Friday information :)

Ah well. At least I have a couple things to buy, even if I wish I'd gotten more options. But we did have good fall & halloween sales this year, and still may get a great xmas sale, so I'm not as disappointed as I could have been. And I am happy to get the jazz band & koi pond. Really not happy with the barely discounted gem sale though, I remember when we got 40% off gems.

I find that if I don't hit buy again or leave the game and come back to it later, I have better luck with the crates. I got the couple of things that I really wanted, lots of smaller decorations that I was able to use. I like the crates at 12 gems, even the small stuff feels worth that. At 24, not so much, I always feel ripped off when I get 4th place.

my record so far isn't that great: still no decent gem sale in my main account :( so i just bought the koi pond (unless i get a gem sale tomorrow before the 10:30 end of BF sale.)

had tons of gems in my 2nd account, so i've been trying to increase my zoo animal count. not very lucky so far, i really want those polar bears around the igloo. but i did get the panda fountain from an asian-themed box, that was good! i'll probably go back to trying to win the sloth from the zoo crate itself. i think this restaurant will get the jazz band too.

3rd restaurant, got the holiday story, which was great. i spent a bunch at halloween here, so couldn't try too many boxes. may try once or twice more.

and of course i had about 2 boxes worth of gems in my very baby account that i only use to send myself needed parts, so i picked a crate at random, and got the first prize elf workshop.

no gem sale. :( i think that was my biggest disappointment about the black friday event, because i would have been perfectly willing to spend money to try more boxes. (honestly, it's a good thing i never go to casinos. i have no self-control.) but knowing i get 30% off all the gem packages pretty frequently left me unwilling to buy gems for anything other than 30% off, and that meant only the $35 package during the black friday gem sale, which is too much for me to spend on a game all at once--even though i probably would have blown through the 105 gems in 2 minutes and immediately bought another 105 gems.

but i got some good stuff on accounts where i actually had some gems saved up, and i'm still having a pretty good year here in RS (harvest stand! s**** shot derby!), so that's okay. if the occasional box sales continue, i may even have another shot at the ones i most wanted.
