According to these 2 posts (https://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?94655-A-Light-in-the-Dark-The-Finale-is-Here!&p=1353889&viewfull=1#post1353889) from RubyKatzen, i made some more calculations on how many quests needed this time. I hope the given info from RubyKatzen is correct.

Quests:
1. Lost Legends: 1500 coins, returns in 2 hrs, collects either 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables.
2. A New Hero: 1500 coins, returns in 4 hrs, collects 2 Mighty Swords.

- Chapter 3, Act 4: Complete 1 Lost Legends = 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables
- Chapter 4, Act 2: Complete 1 Lost Legends = 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables
- Chapter 6, Act 1: Complete 1 A New Hero = 2 Mighty Swords

So, in order to meet the requirements (9 Scribe's Scrolls, 11 Old Fables, 10 Mighty Swords) we have to do 5 "New Hero" (4 more than the asked ones) and at least 7 "Lost Legends" quests (at least 5 more than the asked ones).
Keep in mind that the "Lost Legends" quest gives randomly either Scribe's Scrolls or Old Fables. The ideal scenario is 12 Scribe's Scrolls from 3 "Lost Legends" quests and 12 Old Fables from 4 "Lost Legends" quests.
But we can't choose what to earn. So, if we keep earning more often the one material, we can craft the spare parts to make some pieces of the other one.

In order to craft 1 Scribe's Scrolls, we need 2 Old Fables (15 minutes)
In order to craft 1 Old Fables, we need 3 Scribe's Scrolls (15 minutes)

With the hieroglyphic looking eye symbol, maybe it's a new Egypt type dragon! The only one I have is Cleopatra so I'd be excited if they were going to add to/bring back that series of dragons :D

Although, I'm not quite ready for this (didn't really get a chance to recuperate from the last tale)...

I'm pretty sure (99% positive...seeing how much I asked about the red eyes and dark dragon and the darkness is coming on the previous tale, the Wicked Water) this is for the dragon tale.

This could be the dragon who stole the gate key from Secret City and the one behind all the chaos and corruptions.

Possibly the final arc of the story (it would make sense, b/c it would be the 5th arc)?

Totally agree, it must be our final villain for Dragon Tales. :D Especially after reading last sentence in previous tale: "The appearance of those dark dragons in the woods and across the Dragon Isles could only mean one thing...the Dark One had returned!" I was very excited since the beginning of shattered sky, because of this villain! :D

This has been tried in the Fantasy forest story and the battles are usually connected with chapters in the story/ tales. So be forewarned.
A new dragon tales has started and I am sure some of the battle prizes will be connected to the tales.

You mean that potentially, we will win something else than skull which will be used as material for the tales ?

EDIT: it is likely to be the case, 35 corrupt crystals (from winning battle) are needed to craft the Dark one dragon (in addition to the 2 dragons from the tales)

Even though I'm exhausted from all the events, one after another, I'm still stoked about the tourney and tale. However, one issue I found was the habitat...5 dragons relating to the tale (Chronicler, Little Hero, Light Mother, Dark Prime Chrono, and The Dark One), but 4 dragons capacity habitat. When does it automatically starts? I want to progress on with the tournament but I also want to see what the steps are for the tales so I can know if battles will be required for it. There's much going on and it's alot to take in lol I hope the food requirements aren't so ridicously high (since I'm low on coins and food)

maybe you will have 2 days like two last tales who knows will see.and as I think tournament might be conected with tales like in FF.will require to win a certain round,we might face the prize dragon more than once......(this is how in FF woreked ) not 100% sure.

Just want to give you guys a heads up, the Wall of Wonder (a Light in the Dark habitat) only hold 4 dragons while there's 5 dragons involve in this tale (Chronicler, Little Hero, Light Mother, Dark Prime Chrono, and The Dark One). Not that it's a big deal, just a lil disappointed that one can not put all the dragons from the same tale together.

With a 12-day tournament, I'm guessing there's no way to time things so that the last day of the Tales can fall on the first day of a new Tournament, for easier battles.

The dark one is from crafting, while connected story wise he's actually not part of the tales.

Same about Dark prime chrono.. I mean not part of tales.. And I think for those two we will get new type habitat..

I am furious w/ Storm8 for beginning this DT a week early! While I have more than enough Apples (because I begin Stockpiling during a DT for the next DT) others will be caught short. Lower levels have a tougher time stockpiling... Totally not fair.

That being said, I am impressed by the look & 4 types status of LIGHT MOTHER. Also, I am really impressed w/ the very clever creation of this new type (eye icon... is it called "corrupt"?) that takes preexisting dragons & "corrupts" them into a totally new dragon. Very clever indeed.

Any word on Type Advantage for this new eye type? (Again, would REALLY like to know the name).

Am I correct that since we only get 8 of the Corrupt Crystals needed to Craft the DARK ONE in the !48! Round Tournament, that we will get more CC in the DT? I actually like the 2 being tied together. However, w/ 18 of the Tournament opponents being over L15, it will be hard on many players who don't have good fighters...

For the Artists & Creative Staff - Bravo! You have earned my respect & admiration, once again.

For Storm8 Admin (or is there a specific division that plots ways to take advantage) - you have, one again, disappointed me.

I learned a lot from the last tales (my first one). Not starting until I have to - working on getting my food count up as high as possible before starting. Also, no ending on a Sunday either, I have church and my neighbors never gave me enough orbs. Ending on a weekday is much better for me.

We earn only these 8 Corrupted Crystals from the tournament and according to the Elsa's post here (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?94675-New-Market-Items-New-Prizes-New-Crafting-Dragon-October-7-2016&p=1353170&viewfull=1#post1353170), the rest will be earned in future events!
Well, this makes sense and off course, as it seems, we have to complete many events and it will be the toughest ever earned Dragon!
So, i keep my fingers crossed they don't choose to give the last 2 needed Corrupted Crystals only to the two winners of one of the next Leaderboard, cause it will be the worst and most unfair decision ever! :rolleyes:

Agree! No asking from neighbours is a big plus! I sure do hope that is right :D

And indeed it looks exiting! Never done a tale connected with a tournament, and seems from the auto-completion of tasks reported by some, battles can be won in advance which is great! (Though I am one of those who don't have great fighters....)

Not asking neighbor's is a plus but them changing it up so you have to make it to a certain round in the tournament ( beat level 36) may not be so good. Usually when a tale and tournament occurred together you could wait until the tournament ended to get your battle wins for the tales, now that is not an option you will have to face higher level dragons and beat them. And it's 30 gold a pop to take out a dragon during the tourney.

Wasn't really expecting this to start this soon since I'm still recuperating from the last tale. But the tourney and this tale looks too good to pass by even though it seems very difficult.

Since I have become aware that the tales requires us to win the tournament rounds that give the crystals, I'm gonna focus on progressing through the tournament and collecting food and making room for the dragons needed until the tales auto starts.

I'm holding off too. The last tales, I started around 26k in food, couldn't make quite enough to get the dragon fed. Right now I'm at 70,300 and I'm planting as much as I can. My other dragons are starving. There's just no way to get ahead or even where food is concerned. That's really my only complaint with the game. Need better food options!

I agree with wanting to know the date of the autostart! I'm in NE Florida so I'm more focus on the hurricane we just had- and since I don't have power (for 24 hours now), and cell phone coverage is terrible I can't open my game. :(

I can load these discussion boards if I wait about 5 minutes a page. But that pushes the little to none coverage I'm getting. But my house and my friends rode out the storm successfully, so I'm grateful for my blessings. Just missing my escapism game, DS.

Why Fireapples? Why not "one hour food" and let the player pick which one they want to use? Fireapples are such a waste of time. An hour seems like nothing when you're young, but I'm old. When I plant Fireapples, I feel like I want my hour back.
I love the new dragon's artwork and colors. I'm hoping part of the game is winning a habitat. My suggestion is we collect parts with Quests and craft it ourselves.

I beat them all with Gilded Knight lvl 13,but maybe you should look at the tournamet tread and see other players experience.

So far I'm just using my Amazon level 15 it works for me.

My advice heal it ASAP and use it again with different strategy like if you BMB on your first attack then change it to MMM OR MBM

Decided to start today. Have 103k food, much better than I started with last time. While my son watches some movie I don't care about I'm planting buffbeets to save my coins. Cheap food and it adds up faster then you think after an hour or so. Once in a while I switch to the 10 minute one to take a break.

The mine helps with food, if we get 22k, I need 258k more. That's that's about 28.5k - wow, won't be easy at all.

Just tried with fire and air and got 12 hrs.. Must be firestorm.. The other 12 hrs are easter and firefly in red and yellow and both are not breedable.. If I have firestorm then I can proceed to work on charm.. Believe it or not I have never had this dragon on my island.. Will take some time I guess..

I have only 2 nests.. I haven't even started the tales yet.. Waiting for my food stock to build up.. Any idea mods when this will auto start??

I'm having luck with champs as well. Did get the first 2 with diamond on one or so of my islands but it seems champs work better. Good luck!

Probably gonna start sometime tomorrow... sadly I've been kicked to the highest level bracket, but I've got about 230k in food on hand right now, I'm just waiting for my Light Dragon to finish evolving (Can't believe I didn't have one till now!)... managed to get myself a decent start in the tournament too, hoping ol' Forgefather can help see me through a good bit since I am by no means a battler x3 I just so desperately want to make the grand prize for once, especially one as beautiful as this!

It can't be Lunar Ram, purple doesn't split :)
Fire and Air 12 hours could also have been Mythic...

And I got a 44 hour timer with Diamond and Infinity yesterday, so won't be able to try for Firestorm until tomorrow. If I'm really lucky, I won't fall behind, but I guess I will. Enough time to catch up though, so I don't really care.

Thanks for your answer :) I have also read this description but I was a bit confused from what I have read here. For example the second task from the first chapter says "Complete Round 1 of the Tournament to earn a Corrupted Crystal". But now I have tried it out myself by starting the tales and finishing the first chapter and I still have only the 3 corrupted crystals that I have earned from the previous battles. So now it is proven that we don't have to play the tales in order to gain corrupted crystals :)

Hi. For the sword quest it gave me x2 swords pieces for one quest so far.

Also I hatch my chronicle dragon this morning before chapter three started and when the act came up it already completed that part for those of you not gotten to this part I would say hatch and evolve ur dragon as soon as you can as their is lots of parts to quest for. I got saved by pop ups today!!! Really many of us (including me) get annoyed by all the pop ups of the new things and other S8 games we get every time after the new day starts or after the new things like tales come.. Today first time I opened the game after reset, I accidentally clicked on 'start now' icon of the tales instead of the tournament icon just beneath it.. Fortunately, at the same time I clicked, the pop ups came.. So my click didn't count..

Thanks for your answer :) I have also read this description but I was a bit confused from what I have read here. For example the second task from the first chapter says "Complete Round 1 of the Tournament to earn a Corrupted Crystal". But now I have tried it out myself by starting the tales and finishing the first chapter and I still have only the 3 corrupted crystals that I have earned from the previous battles. So now it is proven that we don't have to play the tales in order to gain corrupted crystals :)

How many battles have you completed?

I have just completed round 24 of the battle tournamemt and won 4 corrupted crystals so far. I just completed round 1 of the tales event to check if we get an extra amount of corrupted crystals but we definitely do not. Crystals can only be won in round 1, 6, 13, 18, 27, 36, 42 & 48 of the current battle tournament which makes 8 crystals and I would guess that the others have to be won in later battles.

I didn't want to confuse anybody. I just wanted to be sure that I don't miss any corrupted crystals by skipping this tales event ;)

In the home stretch! Just beat level 19 Dark Skeletal Knight with my level 15 Infinity. 7 rounds left and so far I have 6 Corrupt Crystals in my storage.

You can have your 24 hrs.. All you have to do on day 1 is plant impruberries 8 times and 1 Battle (if you haven't already battled it)..

So is there any hope of going very far in the battle arena when you only have level 12, 11 & 10 dragons? I've made it to battle 12. I use the color advantages listed in the battle arena guide. I never seem to be able to grow enough food to get them to higher levels, exspecially will all the tales and leaderboards. I'm at level 102.

If, for any reason, the norm has been changed by Storm8 and we need to craft 2 Mural Fragments on Chapter 8, Act 2, then the total craft requirements are: 11 Scribe's Scrolls, 15 Old Fables, 15 Mighty Swords, 2 Small Pearls.

Yes, you are absolutely right! Thank you for mentioning it! On Chapter 6, Act 4 we can use the previous crafted Magic Link. So, without editing my previous post, i re-post the correct calculations this time.

I hope lenasdinner is correct, and we don't need to ask neighbors for items on day 10. I gave up on the last event in disgust when I went 14 hours without getting my items. Don't know if anyone else had this, but am on chapter 2, and didn't realize that somehow the event icon disappeared and didn't get credit for collecting rune stones :(

I closed game and reopened and it's back, but lost one hour of collecting:(

Quests:
1. Lost Legends: 1500 coins, returns in 2 hrs, collects either 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables.
2. A New Hero: 1500 coins, returns in 4 hrs, collects 2 Mighty Swords.

- Chapter 3, Act 4: Complete 1 Lost Legends = 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables
- Chapter 4, Act 2: Complete 1 Lost Legends = 4 Scribe's Scrolls or 3 Old Fables
- Chapter 6, Act 1: Complete 1 A New Hero = 2 Mighty Swords

So, in order to meet the requirements (9 Scribe's Scrolls, 11 Old Fables, 10 Mighty Swords) we have to do 5 "New Hero" (4 more than the asked ones) and at least 7 "Lost Legends" quests (at least 5 more than the asked ones).
Keep in mind that the "Lost Legends" quest gives randomly either Scribe's Scrolls or Old Fables. The ideal scenario is 12 Scribe's Scrolls from 3 "Lost Legends" quests and 12 Old Fables from 4 "Lost Legends" quests.
But we can't choose what to earn. So, if we keep earning more often the one material, we can craft the spare parts to make some pieces of the other one.

In order to craft 1 Scribe's Scrolls, we need 2 Old Fables (15 minutes)
In order to craft 1 Old Fables, we need 3 Scribe's Scrolls (15 minutes)

Every hour gives 2 or 3 Runestones. If you plant 5 hours crops, you will collect 12 or 13 Runestones from every farm.
So, if you have 6 or 7 farms, it's enough for the Chapter 2, Act 2, which asks 75 Runestones.

I do sleep (about 5 hrs on weeknights, but this was the start of the weekend). I always win each hour (I haven't had a healing spring out for years) and many times 3 wins per hour, depending on how many free video watching boosts I can muster each day.

That is incorrect. You can go on the "Lost Legends" quest in the Adventure Outpost to recieve the parts to craft Darkland. No gold required.

Okay, early Christmas gift. I have multiple accounts and when I log in to a sub account that has the video flag available I leave it alone. Then a certain percentage of the time when I log back into my main account I can "capture the flag" and bring it there. One developed sub account in particular has let me do this 5 times in a row. Works great during Spin the Wheel events. Yes I am a master of this game, just one nugget I've figured out over the years.

Finally got a firestorm on the nest this morning. I just bred a charm too, so that will sit and hang out a few days. I'm way too low on food, I'll have to do the math and see if it's cheaper to buy more or skip feeding the last time. Had to feed my Infinity for battling. At a level 14 she was useless but at a 15, much better.

The quests for the swords only gives out two swords every time I have completed a quest I have done this four times and now have eight swords. I have crafted three magic links ready for later chapters. Now I am questing for the scribes scroll and fables I need a lot of these to then craft the other decorations in later chapters. Finished day 4. Keep sending the dragon out for supplies so that I will have enough in advance. I'll evolve him overnight so he's ready to be fed in the am. Will work on crafting the decorations in advance as much as I can today.

My ONLY concern is not having enough food at this point. I'm already on round 33 of the battles, so I will be fine there.

For the battle acts in the tales chapters does it count the battles you have already won or do you have to beat that many more? I am playing in the low level bracket so it is sometimes difficult for me to beat the level 11+ dragons in the battles when I only can max my dragons to lvl 10 right now. Thank you

For the low level bracket you have to comepete the rounds as they are asked of you. Doing rounds pre-emptively won't count towards that chapter's goal. In the higher tiers it tracks what number round you beat, so those players could do the tournmanet ahead of time. But for your level bracket, it's best to wait until the rounds are required- unless you feel confident enough to win the tournament anyways. Good luck :3

My first quest gave me 4 scrolls!! Day 4 requires one quest AND one darkland.. Going to sleep now.. Thankfully I can use 3 of the scrolls for a fable and start crafting a darkland.. Already sent chronicler for the quest.. In 15 minutes, I can collect 1 fable and start crafting darkland.. My day 4 and day 5 are going to be completed in a few seconds!!

So I was quite lucky on breeding Firestorm, first try with Air and Mythic. At least I'm not running behind now.
Started trying for Charm immeditely, thank God, first try is 19 hours, the only super rare outcome from Fire and Peacock. Just keep trying, wouldn't be surprised if I get a 32 hour Titan next :rolleyes:
I got that 32 hrs egg first try. Thank God I started early. But I was lucky with Firestorm. Got it first try like you. Good luck for your next try!

Same!! Finally beat Guardian Angel, but when I came back for the next battle, there he was again, like I never won, and now I lost of course, so I am getting very irritated at the server issues. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my connection, or any other apps.
Same here. At first I thought it was because I played on two devices but I made sure game was closed on the other one and kept playing on one device. Same thing.

Looking at this, the low level players are royally screwed tournament wise, unless they are too low to participate in the tournament. Otherwise, they would have to choose between Tales or Tournament.

Yep! And with the multiple different things you have to breed (a charm, really, that can be some massive fails) in order to finish, I bet many people just bite the bullet and spend the 25 gold to skip.

I have been trying to get firetstorm ahead of time... I need it by tommorrow and haven't gotten it yet. So far it's been clockwork, butterfly, mythic (this was a cruel joke), and firemane. I'll have to wait until tonight to try again b/c I had to breed light with something else. I hope to get firestorm quickly after this...

How annoying is it that Commons are hard to get when you need them and all you ever get when you don't want them :(

I kinda hope that we'll need a Genie in the next tales so that maybe I'll get a Crown Jewel 'fail'. I've gotten so many Genie fails I could start my own harem :(

I got 12 hours just a minute ago and was pleased. But then I came here and you folks reminded me that it could be a Mythic Dragon and I just got sad, again. Fingers crossed that it is a Firestorm. How often does one say that?!

I know that finding all the food for tales is a Royal pain!!

BUT........ I've noticed that these dragons do become useful in the battle arena, for instance Old Watcher, White Glass and Curio have all won battles for me in the last tournament! And theyre winning for others, I know on my isle if I hadn't of had too of fed them, they'd all probably be a level 4 and useless. So what I'm saying is, put these dragons to use!! ��

In the meantime, I'm running my Chronicler on missions so I can be assured enough parts for later crafting, and I'm now at trying to beat the Dark One on the arena |D Forgefather's been an absolute beast, I'm so proud <3 Really hoping he might carry me the last few rounds honestly, it'd be lovely to finally get a tournament dragon!

Once I get my New Hero looks like I will have to bow out. Have exhausted my food supply and can't see a way of getting the amount needed for the last cpl chapters. Ugh, this was my first tale at this new high level. ..... Crazy !! Lol Disappointed but at least I do like the dragons within my reach. Oh and I do have yet another charm already in the nest. Lol.

I got very lucky on the first try for Charm. Used Playful & Magic. Charm sitting waiting to be hatched.

I keep getting scrolls from the stupid quest. Thank goodness I can craft the books. Got enough for one of the fragments tomorrow but not both by the time I forged the links. Also glad I didn'5 go crazy with feeding during the last LB and skipped the last Tales. Got plenty of food on hand for this one.

Just did the math and I'm short 189,000 food as of right now. That's 45,349 per day to raise with 7 farms. I have a spreadsheet that gets me almost there planting from 6 am to 9 pm (my normal hours) on the enchanted farms. I've done the calculations and will need to set my alarm to get me there - very doable Friday, Saturday and Sunday but on Monday that will be really hard.

I may have to buy a sack of food for 100 gold and that looks like the cheapest option for me - if that is all the gold I have to spend between DT and the Battle Tournament, I'll be super excited. Haven't spent any yet!!!!! Crossing my fingers that I can win some food in the mine (still open for me).

I usually stop all breeding and evolving other than what I know will be required of the tasks since I don'5 want to accidentally tie up nests, the den or the temple.

Hm, did anyone else manage to get past step 2 after crafting only one mural fragment? I crafted it last night figuring i'd only have to do on more today. When it got to the step, it counted the one I had crafted as 1. But then when I placed it on the isles (instead of in storage as usual) that counted as step 2 and it moved on. This happen to anyone else? I'm glad since I didn't have any tomes left and would have had to craft that first.

I have just completed chapter 6 & wanted to craft the Little Hero dragon needed for chapter 7 & noticed that I'm short 1 little hereo favor.. I am on round 35 in the tournament so should I not have all the favours needed. Will the favor rewarded for round 20 not show up until prompted in chapter 7?

Having a food farming day. Down to needing 136k right now. I can pay 150 gold to skip raisingthe chronicler to a 14 (he's already an 11). Then I'll only need 30k more to raise Little Hero to a 13. If I can get to needing 26k or less food then it'll be cheaper to spend 100 gold to buy some.

I have until day 9 to decide the cheapest way to finish DT. Max spend is 150 gold - good price for 3 new dragons that I really like.

I've stuck with this game through all the gold grabbing changes they've implemented with their events and tournaments and whatnot, but tying in a tournament and FORCING players to have to win so many rounds is just the last straw.

I stopped doing Fantasy Forest games when they brought this in and from now on I will refuse to do these, which is so disappointing to say about a game that I love and know so many people put a lot of work into. I don't have much of a life, but this takes up too much time & the expectations are just too much. I'd rather they bring back having to request help from neighbours for four rounds before doing this tie in with a tournament again...

I think not,sorry.Finishin the tournament gives you 8 crystals.so if you win the battle that gives you a crystal,you have to win it to get it.
but I belive that in the future we will get more crystals for crafting that dragon(fue extra).but thats just me nothing is shure.....
you still have 4 or 5 days ti end this tournament so keep tryin until the end. Good luck!!

Day 8 was done quickly. Day 9 is prepped for - I can wait all day to decide if I want to raise chronicler to a 14 or skip it. Right now, I have enough food to raise my Little Hero to a 13, so that step is good.

Can anyone tell me, if the gold spend changes as you partially complete the step - so if I get it to a 13 instead of 14 will the gold required to skip it decrease?

150 gold also sounds appealing to spend and save the food for another dragon too, can't buy it that cheap either, so it might be worth it to get the Light Mother raised a few levels for future battles, hmmm, decisions?!?

Think I'm going to have to give up on this one. Even if I leave the chronicle dragon at 11 and use gold to skip taking him to 14 I still don't have nearly enough food to evolve the 2nd dragon. The game is starting to lose it's appeal for me. I don't mind spending some money....I get that it's a business and it takes money to run a business. And who doesn't agree that Flatfoot deserves a paycheck for all these beautiful, creative creations?! :D But too many back to back and overlapping events, plus more and more difficult goals to achieve have all turned this into more work than fun for me. I don't have a schedule that allows for setting alarms to keep up on things. Sometimes I'll stay up through most of the night trying to catch up on things but I'm too old to do that too often without it taking a toll on me and I can't afford to let that happen because I take care of my mom full time and there's no room for messing up medications or being too tired or preoccupied to notice situations that can quickly escalate into emergencies. This is supposed to be something fun to help me unwind and instead it's turning into a situation where I actually dread Tuesdays and Fridays and don't want to get on game. Because I have a lot of faithful friends who are always on top of responding to requests, as well as 3 that I trade gold with, I still get on game to send gold and respond to requests. I have a ton of dragons I need to work on evolving so I'm going to try to ignore the pop ups and not get lured in by dragons I "have to have" and just play my own game for a while. I will try to finish the tournament for that dragon and hopefully I can manage what it takes to craft the dark one. It would help if Flatfoot would come out with some hideous, untempting dragons to keep me on track, lol. :p Good luck to everyone working on this and a ton of thank yous to everyone who posts so much helpful information!! This community is amazing and a good reason to stick around instead of taking a complete break. :D
