I am not fond of characters with clothes at all... BUT that looks to be a new element! So count me in. Once again, I will mention... SO!! I didn't get very far with testing the low level elements to see what is weak/strong. A wee little level 4 Cursed Rose took the Professor out with Fire. Unsure if it was strong against it or if it was a lucky critical hit!

Not sure what the new element is called... They reference dark magic and potions in the write up. Magic? The animal seems to be a play on Professor Snape though.

If I remember right I had 3 battles where I got strong attack but didn't hit critical and had to do them over, 2 of them I battled like 5-6x each til one hit critical so there are a few hard to take down stubborn ones but it wasn't too bad. I guess I should have put the other element that would hit strong attack as well I just didn't think of it at the time, sorry.

Very few of my babies are epic lol the majority of the ones I used are 9-11 so if you use epic animals you may hit critical quicker on the few I trouble with ;)

I agree on the "clothed animals" clothes take away from the animal in my opinion, I do have some but not crazy about how they change the look of a habitat and other animals around them, just looks too kiddie cartoon for me lol

I also call nature "plant" a lot lol I think diff people use diff terms but with common sense, we all know what they mean :) and if not, ask but it's no big deal so I agree with your "it doesn't really matter, does it?" comment as well.

I've now had ten attempts! The syncing problems with this game drive me crazy. I've got 52 gbs broadband, so it's the game servers at fault. Infuriating.

It used to happen to me a lot. Some one advised me to visit a neighbour after the battle which syncs the servers and locks in the battle win.

Now onto emerald dragon. Always struggle with this one.

Do you visit a neighbor or community member after each win? That sorta reloads the game & saves your progress. I haven't had a roll back since (I visit two neighbors after each win). Good luck!

Hopefully you have beaten it by now, but if you haven't try going very basic with a single element. Like Skyger (dark is strong to gem). I find in those times when I am losing time after time with strong fighters that should be working... if I switch to a basic single element it goes down almost instantly! Good Luck!

Hmmm, I find this very interesting. I have loved the aurora Pegasus since i first got it, however, it wasn't a great fighter. But since putting it in the fountain of youth habitat I get a lot of critical hits., I use that if it's an element that is weak to the Pegasus. Of course, it could b a coincidence!

Hopefully you have beaten it by now, but if you haven't try going very basic with a single element. Like Skyger (dark is strong to gem). I find in those times when I am losing time after time with strong fighters that should be working... if I switch to a basic single element it goes down almost instantly! Good Luck!

Thanks, still trying! I used Skyger and also Pyro Pony and no luck--Pyro Pony has worked for me in the past though. This is up to 20 tries now, since yesterday morning. I am a huge Alan Rickman fan which is why I really wanted this one. I will keep trying, my Gargolem again next I think.

Yes it varies and certain animals get you on a tourney. For me emerald Dragon is usually tough. But I got it first try with Fire. For me Garland Snake has been my hardest with two left to go. Just keep at it. We've all been ther and you've got time.

1). The tournament becomes more difficult as we advance. In earlier tournaments when I have limited fighters at ultra and super rarity, I seemed to able to complete the tournaments with relative ease (i.e., repeatedly using these animals). Now I have many more ultra/super rare, epic animals, I found it's difficult to use any of these fighters to defeat the opposing animals more than 2 times.
2). I am a strong believer in probability of this game. It means the ultra-rare, epic animals should offer better probability in rendering critical hits than super-rare fighters, same for the super-rare vs. rare vs. common animals. As I play more and more, I cannot fully support this theory. In the last few tournaments, my only ultra rare animals, Crystal Unicorn, Grand Unicorn, and Gretel, did not outperform other fighters. I can only win one to two times with them, just like my other good super rare animals. I found many rare animals can also win one or two times for me. I often saw others report winning with common animals although I did not have such luck most of the time. Overall, there is no obvious correlation between rarity and winning. If we cannot substantiate the hypothesis that ultra rare animals are best fighters, why should we spend all of our time trying to breed these high rarity animals and use so much food to raise them to Epic levels?

Hi, High level here. I have noticed Common animals do a good job at beating ultra rare animals,rare, super rare and so on type of animals. It depends on the element. However it does not mean (I'll use elements and animals for example)
My Skyger lvl 15 will beat the ultra rare animal after losing once already. I have tried fighting again some animals with the same common 1 element animal and lost. Yet there are other times where my 1 element common animal lvl 15 has beat a super rare on one try. I don't think it has much to do with the rare type but more with the animal other element. For example the animal you are fighting is Nature and Earth level 20 and you keep using a Nature and Earth element animal... (I did that recently) You will keep losing because the animal you are fighting is using a element your animal is weak against.
So it would be better to use a Earth and Fire or Earth and dark so when they use earth it won't do as much damage, as it would have if you had used a Nature and Earth animal.
Hope I made sense... Didn't quite write it how I wanted to.

Supermaay, I have increasingly questioned why we put so much effort into raising our animals. Battles often do not make sense. Our high ranking animals get beaten by low level ones, sometimes we win with common ones. Does the game have rules of probability, or is it just a random number generator like we used to put in Basic programs? In other words, is it just an electronic "dice"? I really hope that isn't true.

I just finished my Professor Scrape turnament . What I would like to say to new players to fantasy forest.., and something I had to learn for myself is I used to come on the forum and follow the results of other people to win the tournament but the best piece of information that I came across on here was the strengths and weaknesses and battlegrounds, I believe that's what it's called... battleground and strategy guide, it tells you what you should use in your battles and what you should avoid during your battles. Ever since I found that information I use this And every turnamement and in the battlegrounds. Because a lot of times everyone doesn't have the exact animals Someone else does But if you know what elements that work you don't always need it to be a level 15 either. It saves a lot of time and I usually finish the turn immense a lot earlier than the allotted time. Now that I've started Started playing Dragon Story I don't have as much time that I had when I did fantasy for a story with 100% of my attention. Also, I got my Chipshunk. On my first try with spin to win ! And my second spin to win I received the 6000 apples. So not a bad start ! last time I had to spend extra jammie last time I didn't think I was going to get The silly goose in the spin to win and on my last spin I actually got it I was so happy, it kept landing on seahorse. I agree with you. I'm level 100, been playing a long time now (much longer than my "join date"). It does seem like breeding and tournaments tend to be a bit easier on the newer players. I didn't keep track, but now that I have ultra rares, the tournaments feel a lot easier. This tournament was a ton easier for me than the last one. I think there's a random program S8 uses that makes some tournaments harder on some people, & some easier on others. You can be at the same level as your neighbor, use all the same animals to battle, yet one may end up doing way better battling than the other person for that specific tournament.

I'm so glad that this tournament was so much easier for me. Great timing with what's going on in my personal life.

As far as using common animals vs super rare, ultra rare, etc... I think you tend to do better using your stronger animals. Yes, here and there the common animal will save the day, but for me, the rarer ones do better. I try to use my common ones earlier in the tournament as much as possible & practical. I feel you need to study the charts, even though they are not up to date, and select animals with elements that are the strongest to both elements you are going up against. In my experience, you won't do well if one of the elements is weak against your opponent. I sped up two rounds when they cost 1 gem and ultimated the plantlers at round 29. Pyro Pony 15 took down Scrape in 2 hits on only one attempt. So I spent 32 diamonds to get Scrape because I need to go to bed. I used mostly common animals. Good luck everyone still fighting.

I wonder if Super rare animals on Schedule E can be more powerful than Super rare animals on Schedule D during battle tournaments. If not, it only makes sense if there are other advantages. I don't have as many of the super and ultra rare animals that most of you post. For every battle tournament, I have always used the highest level Common animal.
Now for the past two tournaments, I used whatever animals that I did have, that were posted in the forum results or used a common animal with the same powers. (Hope that made sense). And I've breezed thru the battles but never to complete a tournament.
However, this tournament was such a breeze until I got to about round 21 or so. This is when I realized I could finish the tournament. Now there were two shockers for me at this point. My treent of life has not been evolved to level 4 was able to win against an animal in these final rounds.

Round 22: Demonkey won Shock Fox 15
Round 23: Emeral Dragon won Treent of Life 4
Round 24: Garland Snake (one of the kids did this)
Round 27: Crescent Crane won Skyger 15
Round 28: Pearl Peyton won Shock Fox 15
Round 30: Professor Scrape won ULTIMATE ATTACK (I was out of patience after two trys)

These are the rounds my gems were spent to finish the tournament today. Which, I did mange to do with 2 hours to spare.

These results, along with the community's results, has really gotten me wondering about the variable mix of the equation to winning these battles. Also the breeding ANNNNND just how often to they "tweak it"

Someone had mentioned before the event animals are stronger than those that are availble through normal breeding. I think I must agree. With the exception of my grand unicorn she ain't good for nothing!!! Unbreedable and Weak in fighting, at level 15.

This very thing happened to me on the last battle tournament. I got to the round with Granite Golem and was stuck for a day and half!!! I used either the same animal that others has posted in the forums or animals with the same powers. I changed wifi connections (4 different connections), I rebooted my phone, I turned off my wifi and cellular data for over an hour and I still could not get a Critical Hit. Then what would infuriate me was to get 3 strongs and the health of the opponent would be a slither of life!!!**My girls call that one WitchCraft!!** However, with only 3 or 4 hours to spare I finally beat Granite Golem, but the experience was game changing for me.

I am totally not excited about any tournaments! I only participated in this one because the forums told me what animals to use and I flowed through them all until I got to round 22. I spent 120 Gems total in the final 9 hours ONLY because I wanted the new element.

This very thing happened to me on the last battle tournament. I got to the round with Granite Golem and was stuck for a day and half!!! I used either the same animal that others has posted in the forums or animals with the same powers. I changed wifi connections (4 different connections), I rebooted my phone, I turned off my wifi and cellular data for over an hour and I still could not get a Critical Hit. Then what would infuriate me was to get 3 strongs and the health of the opponent would be a slither of life!!!**My girls call that one WitchCraft!!** However, with only 3 or 4 hours to spare I finally beat Granite Golem, but the experience was game changing for me.

I am totally not excited about any tournaments! I only participated in this one because the forums told me what animals to use and I flowed through them all until I got to round 22. I spent 120 Gems total in the final 9 hours ONLY because I wanted the new element.

It appears that quite few of us have similar experiences. Many people may do the same things as what ThePjays did (playing with wifi, connection, etc) and wonder if this just happened to me or my device. Other than selecting the right element(s) and fighters, everything else is outside of our control (as we do not know how the game designer decides when and how a critical hit is released).

The reason that people get frustrated with 5 fails in a single round can be explained as follows:
We are given 6 days for 30-round tournaments. Actually you have only a half day for the first day (for example, the game starting at around noon time in the US Pacific Time Region). It's reasonable to assume that people may combat 12 times on average in any single day (excluding the time to sleep and work). It means a total of 66 chances (12 times/day x 5.5 days = 66 times) of defeating 30 animals, i.e., on average we need to defeat any given animal in less than 3 tries. It's true that early rounds may be easier to pass so people may get panic when they have more than 5 fails in any latter rounds. Especially in the last few rounds (since you're so close), people can tend to use gems to speed up the game to get a few more opportunities. This is the conspiracy I can imagine unless Storm8 can tell us more statistics on critical hits.

I like to go further to question Storm8 about their decision on food schedule. In the beginning of the FFS game, Super-Rare animals are mostly fed on Schedule C (~45,000 apples) or Schedule D (~97,000 apples), and Schedule E is mainly for Ultra-Rare animals (~1380,000 apples). Now we see the majority of new Super-Rare animals need to be fed on Schedule E. This is another conspiracy that Storm8 tries to make the game harder and push players to use and buy more gems. People will use and buy more gems to raise their beloved or preferred animals to high levels for different reasons. Many people just like animals based on their the appearance (Is it cute ore beautiful?) Some people decide to raise the level of the animals for practical reasons. For example, my decision to raise the level of my animals is based on how useful (powerful) the animal is in the battle tournament. If the Super-Rare animals have the elements that my other fighters are lacking, I'm willing to spend more apples (Schedule E) to raise them to the Epic level. Or if these Super-Rare animals are more powerful than Super-Rare animals on Schedule D or/and as powerful as Ultra-Rare animals (such as Crystal Unicorn), I'm willing to raise them to the Epic level even on Schedule E. However, now I am not sure whether these Super-Rare animals on Schedule E can actually outperform the Super-Rare animals on Schedule D in battle tournaments. I'm even not sure if Ultra-Rare animals are more powerful than Super-Rare animals. This is what frustrated me.

I have battled in every tournament this game has generated other than the first one, which I missed. I don't speed, so my goal is a zero expenditure of gems in tournaments. I do get to the end without spending gems on at least 2/3 of the tournaments that I win and I may have won 2/3 of all the tournaments; but I haven't counted. That said, I keep a budget of 60 gems to use for tournament animals that I really want. I have a rule to never resort to spending on the ultimate attack unless I am within 5 battles of the end goal and I have been stuck and time is running out. (So- battle 26 for this 30 rounder) I do not want to spend the budget early and still not get the prize so there plenty tournaments in which I must spend a day or two on one or two stubborn battles.

As far as odds go, I do think that the odds are more favorable for the lowest levels but it evens out fairly early. I have epic creatures of all element versions except for the gem hybrids. (I am missing nature, water, dark and electric elements)

My battle rules in order of my perceived importance are:

1. Use the correct opposing battle element.

2. Use single element if possible. If the opponent has 2 elements that are both weak to fire then your garden variety pyro pony is the best, etc.

3. For creatures at or above level 7 use highest rarity first and if that doesn't work, try highest level or feed and evolve.

4. For creatures under level 7 use highest level first and if that doesn't work try higher rarity.

5. Stare off into space like you could care less while the battle rages.

This was my first tournament, and I didn't have any level 15 animals, so I'm not surprised that I didn't win. I felt pretty good about making it to level 20, though! Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and strategies here-- I'm trying to remember tips for next time.
