CH 1

The camp fire danced slowly in the cool night breeze as the Curio Dragon sat against a fallen log looking over his wares. In his hand was a translucent shard, similar to glass, that scattered the firelight in funny angles. This shard was perhaps one of the Curio's most treasured items; it was a piece of the sky! Since the sky began to fall over a month ago, the Sunlight and Moonglow Dragons have been busy piecing it back together. As a proprietor of fascinating odds and ends, the Curio had to get his paws on one of the shards. It took weeks of searching, but he finally managed to locate the small shard that he now held.

CH 2

What excited the Curio the most, however, was not the skyshard, but what he found afterward. Looking up into the night sky, there was a large section missing, and with an observant eye, he caught a glimpse of something unusual: a secret city that was hidden up in the atmosphere! Throughout his journeys, the Curio Dragon had heard rumors and tales that hinted at the idea of a hidden city somewhere on the Dragon Isles, but hone of them pointed to the sky. The Curio Dragon was not a good flier however, so before he could explore the city he would need the help of another dragon.

CH 3

Later that night, Curio Dragon heard someone approaching. Off in the distance, a bobbing light came closer and closer to the camp. As the firelight illuminated the newcomer, Curio looked up and saw the smiling face of the wandering dragon. Introducing itself as the Adventure Dragon, the two exchanged pleasantries and Curio offered him a bite to eat and a seat by the fire. Curio explained that he had a fascination with unique trinkets and travelled the world collecting them and the Adventure Dragon expressed how it loved discovering new and unexplored locations. Without hesitation, Curio offered the Adventure Dragon the chance to explore the hidden city if he would help him gather some items. Without so much as a pause, the Adventure Dragon agreed!

CH 4

The Curio Dragon eagerly rummaged through his bag and revealed a glass jar with a single green bean. The Curio Dragon had explained that the bean supposedly had marvelous properties that could be awakened when doused in magical water... or so the crazy old dragon that sold it described. The two dragons would need more beans and bottles of magical water if they had any hope of reaching the city in the sky. Friendly dragon caretakers from all around offered up whatever magical water they could to aid them in their quest.

CH 5

It took some time but the two finally amassed what they thought would be a sufficient amount of beans and magical water. The Adventure Dragon was excited to see the secret city and Curio was excited to see what it held. Curio found a location directly beneath the mysterious sky city and planted the beans. As they finished pouring the last drops of magical water, they quickly stepped back in anticipation of what may happen... Nothing so far...

CH 6

The day was uneventful and having traveled across the Isles for the past few days, the two exhausted dragons decided to rest their eyes. That night, Curio had a nightmare where the Dragon Isles were covered in a dark and ominous smog until a ray of morning sun woke him. He stretched and breathed in the crisp, cool air. The clouds looked massive and much closer than usual. Slowly rolling over, the Curio Dragon realized he was sleeping on a massive leaf... hundreds of feet up in the air!

CH 7

He clutched the leaf and yelled out to the Adventure Dragon. Overnight, the beans sprouted to titanic proportions! A friendly Vinecrawler Dragon scurried around and greeted them with enthusiasm. The Vinecrawler pointed up and told them that the 'other' dragon was going to beat them to the top. Curio and Adventure were perplexed. What other dragon? The two looked up and saw a large, dark dragon, rushing up through the leaves and up the vines to the city above!

CH 8

Curio and Adventure raced up the Skyvine in pursuit of the dark dragon who had now disappeared into the clouds above. As they broke through the cloud surface, the two were awestruck as they took in the sights of the massive city before them. Intricate stonework, ancient carvings, and beautiful tapestries lined every building and wall. Distracted by sights of the city, the two didn't notice the warmth of the sun disappear, or feel that the wind began to pick up, but once a gust of air nearly knocked them over, they spun around to see one of the largest dragons they'd ever seen!

CH 9

The massive form, coloration, and three sets of limbs made it undeniable to Curio that the dragon who stood before them was one of the legendary Skygiants! Without warning, the Skygiant Dragon roared, "Why have you come to this place? Where is the Gate Key, little thief?!?" The Curio Dragon pleaded that he didn't take anything, while subtly dropping the trinkey he'd just retrieved. The two dragons pleaded their innocence until recalling the dark dragon who had scurried up the Skyvine before them. "I think I know who has your key!" cried Curio. It had to be the mysterious dark dragon!

CH 10

The Skygiant Dragon believed their story and explained that the item the mysterious dark dragon stole was of great importance. The secret city in the sky had remained hidden for centuries to protect the sacred artifact that was key to the safety of the Dragon Isles. Suddenly a flash of darkness flew by them and into the clouds below. The Skygiant raced to the edge of the city to witness the mysterious dark dragon escaping down the massive vine. As it flew, something shone from within its claws. "That dark dragon has flown off with the sacred Gate Key! Something foul is coming to the Isles..."growled the Skygiant. "I must travel down with you. The city has lost its purpose and the Isles will need every dragon it can get..."

Just the HUD button has been removed to avoid accidental travel. You can still visit the island by tapping on the airship.

I really like the idea behind these tales (an explorers team?)
It's different from the previous shapes (not that I disliked them!) But If I remember correctly, the players asked for a new design. And I usually don't buy the habitats but I'm really tempted this time! Somehow the green mountain/clouds attract me to press that button!

What I mean is: I saw that chapter 4 means breeding and raising a Curio Dragon, but my Nest is occupied for at least 23 hours (55 even if after that I put the egg in it that will result from current breeding). So is it better to wait before starting the timer? Or has that timer started already and am I wasting time by waiting?

The timer doesn't start until you click on the Dragon Tales building. I would wait until you get those eggs hatched before starting, along with trying to get the dragons you might need to hatch during the event bred. It is very worthwhile to get a second nest.

If you're looking to get the grand prize you should wait until the nests are cleared to not lose days.

Last Tales event I had to spend 100 gold just to skip that in Chapter 10, granted that I made it all back in roughly 2 days (I get 60 gold per day) but I really wanted the dragon prize for that event, not so much for this event

Good luck to all playing though, I'm just not as interested in the dragon prize this time.

That's another thing too, Tales event tend to take a lot of food, especially when they require us to level them up to 14

Each chapter starts at the same time every day. For the UK that time is 8am. So if I finish my chapter by 9am as I did today, I have a 23 hour wait until the next chapter. If I finish it at 8pm I have a 12 hour wait.

If you use gold to speed up a chapter then the next one will still not start until the set time. So if I used gold today to get onto chapter 3 (which is due at 8am BST on Sunday) I will then have a longer wait for Chapter 4 (which is due to start 8am BST on Monday).

The only time it's worth speeding the early chapters is if you know you can't log on during one day and want to get them done and out of the way.

If you like, just do what I do and stop when the task requires you to raise those dragons beyond LV7 or so

I guess LV1 to 6 is ok as the food costs are usually minimal, but once you go beyond LV7, then the food cost can get quite high

Impruberries don't give runestones when you harvest,only at least 1h corp witch will give you 2 or 3 runestones per farm.maybe pumpwings will give you more,not very shure because I allways plant at least diamondates,and thay give me 12 or 13 runestones. hope this helps.

Yeah for sure... It's just a shame that I like the final dragon MUCH more than the one that will be required to be levelled up so much and have to spend so much food on!

I didn't mind the neighbour asking so much, especially early on when not as many requests were needed... I would have thought with the theme of travelling, it would have been a better message to send to ask neighbours for help (or even make new neighbours/friends) than battling?

Even a combination of requests early when things are more achievable and people complete tasks easier and have more time to wait, and battles later on I thought would have been a great compromise...

SO many Runestones are required - and SO many battles! And the incubation / evolution time for these dragons is getting much longer!

I hope there is no tournament during the Tale. Can't afford to waste 2 days stuck on a battle if I have to stay on track for a Tale.

I paid the 6 gold to finish off the poison and and sent the curio to the nest. It did not put it on, but another poison is there. I no longer have the curio either! Now what? Jaberwock

I estimated we are going to need 22 Magic Waters, 5 Knick-Knacks, and 18 Magic Beans. You need to include 2 Cloud Paths in your totals. Each needs a Magic Water and a Knick-Knack. Plus a Sky Shrine which requires a Sprout and 3 Knick-Knacks.

Another thing to consider is the unbalanced ratio of Knicks-Knacks to Magic Beans needed. Since we can craft Magic Beans from Knick-Knacks, plan on a having to do a couple of those crafts, which means even more questing time.

Thank you!!! I did force stop it before I came on and asked for help. It didn't seem to do anything. That's why I asked. I fell asleep after posting. When I woke up it was OK. Evidently it took a bit of response time. It is nice to know that is what you should do. I wasn't sure. You confirmed it for me!. I've had so many difficulties and just let them slide. One day it cost me around 420 in gold. But I didn't document. And I never have received ANY maps when I get them as a reward or from the spin wheel. Next time I'll do something about it :) :) :)

Wish I could participate, but I'm at my habitat limit with no hope of hitting the next level before the time runs out to start, and the one space I have in any of my habitats is for the dragon I have to craft SOON from mining. It's ridiculous that I'm going to miss out on these dragons that look really fun because I don't have any space for them. (I have exactly 1 duplicate, and it's a diamond, and I can't afford to upgrade my habitats I've already got.)

Have the same problem. My fix is to use DS Halloween to buy/place habitats.

Runestones are 2.5 per hour

As to the different fruits - look at how much you can afford and how much time you have. For example Pumpwings (225 apples) and Diamondates (800 apples) are both 5 hours and give 12 runestones. Diamondates cost a lot more, but you get 575 more food for the same time. If I need a lot of runestones, I go for the 20 hr scalypears which gives me 50 runestones, even though I get only 700 apples. If I know I am going to be playing a while, I may do a round or two of Upgrapes (10 min/100 apples) just to boast my apples total.

Same here, in normal play i get always it, now that its needed i got two night dragon in a row (at least the first one was my furst ).. Last try before losing a day..

My thinking on this rightly or wrongly, is we have been tossed night eggs to entice spending gold to either speed up the breeding so one can try again for the coral dragon or for those that have the second breeding roost to spend gold there to activate it, either way gold is spent, because if you have started the tales loosing a day waiting for hatching kinda puts the pressure on. I may just have to be grateful for the black gem that night can be traded for ️and forget the tales. See how we go lol

Each new Chapter (after the first which you start at a time of your choosing) starts at the same time every day - the daily reset time. For me that is 5 pm during my winter and 7 pm during my summer.

So whenever daily reset is, in your timezone.

The last Tales took about 372000 food, so I expect this one will be similar, gracelinda. :) We got 24000 food as bonuses, so if you can get close to 320k you should be able to get him. I started the last Tales at 35k food, did ten minute crops the entire time.. and MADE IT. :) It definitely can be done if you've got the time.

Wish I could participate, but I'm at my habitat limit with no hope of hitting the next level before the time runs out to start, and the one space I have in any of my habitats is for the dragon I have to craft SOON from mining. It's ridiculous that I'm going to miss out on these dragons that look really fun because I don't have any space for them. (I have exactly 1 duplicate, and it's a diamond, and I can't afford to upgrade my habitats I've already got.)

How about a dragon stable? I looked, but didn't see one. When upgraded, the stable can hold up to 20 dragons. You can't hatch a dragon to the stable, but you can move things around so spaces open up where you need them...

8 hour crop should be 20. (2.5*8) and a 1 hour is 2 or 3 randomly

This time I waited in order to make more food. Now on Chapter 3. I really like the first 2 dragons, the third one is just so ... green! Thank you everybody for all the tips. Will try night and magic next time to get coral, which used to be a pesky frequent fail ( and I am sure it will be again, once this is over :p)
Looks like a lot of crafting and questing are ahead.
And I too, would like world events back. And fewer leaderboards. I sat the last one out (finished 17) and it did not hurt a bit!

On previous tales midlevels had to raise 2 dragons to level 10. Now I see adventure had to be raised to 12 :-o
They need a ridiculous amount of food if you consider their earnings probably. I would like to finish the tales, but i'm not going to make it foodwise. You can't prepare for this without leaving your dragons as is for about 4 weeks i guess, only stocking up food and no feeding. I really think any kind of tournement or quest should be challenging, but it should also be possible without having to buy gold. It might help to lower the frequency of events. Of course there's always a choice to participate or decline, but it's hard to ignore the prices (for me anyway)

lol, those commons used to come by so easily, and many times as fails while trying for other breeds, but now when you want them, you hardly ever get them lol

This is WRONG. Because ch7 requires a sky vine SPROUT NOT A SKYLINE. Much less questing required!!

You have it right. Real catch is that we are required to only go on 6 quests as steps (and 1 of those is required after everything is crafted), but need to do at least 24 to get everything. Wouldn't surprise me if we have add a couple of more quests to total as we'll probably have to convert excess knick-knacks into beans. So far it has been 2 items (water, beans, knick-knacks) per quest.

I wish I didn't want the final dragon, but I do.. I don't have a fairytale type dragon yet. However... I'm not going to spend all my hardsaved food on curio and/or adventure. I'll probably quit after reaching level 8 for curio. And then go back to leveling up my other non-epic dragons. I really want that championdragon in the tournement aswell, no piece of cake either.
Totally agree with you about going for it, if you like this tales and think it's doable/payable, go for it!

I thoight midlevel had to hatch a coral too (before the chapters for midlevel were posted) so I went ahead and took a shot before starting my tales. I bred apprentice with water, first time right. I didn't have the coral yet, so it wasn't for nothing. Lucky but good shot :-D

I manage it this way.
Everyday I feed my dragons the following way.
1 Level 1 - 3 Dragon gets fed a complete level.
1 Level 4 - 6 Dragon gets one bit of food
1 Level 7 - 9 Dragon gets one bit of food
1 Level 10+ Dragon gets one bit of food
Yes very slow advancement, and some of the 1-3 dragons once Evolved up to 4, earning some bombs for mining, gets sold or traded if they repeats.
However I am always feeding and advancing dragons have 17 level 15 dragons and I seem to have 340k food ready at the start of each Tales event.
I also seem to harvest every hour too so gain quite a bit of food a day, and have sufficient dragons that my coins do not reduce.

Also i tried breeding air and forest for a life dragon and from the first try i got a fairy type (which i didn't had) and i bought a habitat but i still wasted many hours until it was finished. The second time, forest + air again and i got another fairy type... i was really disappointed, but when I woke up a few minutes ago... guess what I have in my nest??? A LIFE DRAGON!!! If I get this quest done the event is almost finished ♡😍

Check out Post #3 & it's all written out. I'm high level going into day 7 & just discovered I have to craft a Skyvine & need 4 Skyvine Sprouts for it. I've got almost 40 knick knacks but few Magic Beans! Found that you can craft Mag Beans from knick knacks in 30 secs under Material! Doing them now since my start time is 3AM. Good luck!

I wish I didn't want the final dragon, but I do.. I don't have a fairytale type dragon yet. However... I'm not going to spend all my hardsaved food on curio and/or adventure. I'll probably quit after reaching level 8 for curio. And then go back to leveling up my other non-epic dragons. I really want that championdragon in the tournement aswell, no piece of cake either.
Totally agree with you about going for it, if you like this tales and think it's doable/payable, go for it!

It's a lesson that S8 taught a lot of the players really, since there's just so many new dragons every week, it's impossible to get them all, not to mention with the limited space on the island (I have many dragons stuck in storage for quite some time now)

So I always tell people to just relax and play however you want, and if you like a dragon from an event, by all means go for it. But if you don't, then no need to stress, just play normally without worrying about the event.

Check out Post #3 & it's all written out. I'm high level going into day 7 & just discovered I have to craft a Skyvine & need 4 Skyvine Sprouts for it. I've got almost 40 knick knacks but few Magic Beans! Found that you can craft Mag Beans from knick knacks in 30 secs under Material! Doing them now since my start time is 3AM. Good luck!

When certain crafting items are needed for a quest, it would help if it was under the icon labeled special. It gets confusing to me to see all the other crafting options when I'm trying to see all the new crafting requirements for the new quest. I have never seen anything under the special icon in the crafting house. It appears to be an unused icon.

I manage it this way.
Everyday I feed my dragons the following way.
1 Level 1 - 3 Dragon gets fed a complete level.
1 Level 4 - 6 Dragon gets one bit of food
1 Level 7 - 9 Dragon gets one bit of food
1 Level 10+ Dragon gets one bit of food
Yes very slow advancement, and some of the 1-3 dragons once Evolved up to 4, earning some bombs for mining, gets sold or traded if they repeats.
However I am always feeding and advancing dragons have 17 level 15 dragons and I seem to have 340k food ready at the start of each Tales event.
I also seem to harvest every hour too so gain quite a bit of food a day, and have sufficient dragons that my coins do not reduce.

Keep doing what you are doing. eventually you will reach the point where you can't spend the coins you earn

You need a little over 135 k to get him to level 12. I don 't thubk I'll make it that far. :-(

Anyway, I've bred a Penumbra, and two Magics, so I'm easily 2.5 days behind! :mad: :mad: I guess it's not uncommon though, since there are several of us who have to do this "easy" task of hatching a common(!) dragon. :( [P.S. My kind of luck is that I will breed a Night and still keep getting Penumbras.]

I've just started Day 9 and deliberately didn't craft in advance just in case! I got my dragon up to 14, Great Job! Then she said "Act 2 competed Great Job". I didn't craft anything! Did she accept the Skyvine I did two days ago? I don't know.

My advice is "don't advance craft this time"

Now what do I do with all those ingredients for a Skyvine?

I finished chapter 5 yesterday, but when I started to raise Curio to 11 @6,000 per 'bite' it occurred to me that if not for Tales, I wouldn't dream of using so much food for a just ok dragon. I'm questioning if it's worth it to feed 2 dragons I'm not that crazy about so much food that I could use to raise champion, diamond, and even basic dragons, just to get 1 dragon I want. I have the food, 322,000 and growing, but I've neglected dragons I want to feed to get it.

This game offers a lot of opportunities to score great dragons, tournaments, mining... even Leaderboard events offer great dragons and all we have to do is breed and evolve, which we do anyway. This is my 2nd Tales event as a 'high level' player, so using up so much food is still new to me. This seems like a lot of effort and food for 1 great dragon. I've loved Tales events until now, but is it worth it? Has anyone else had the same thoughts?

I'm not high level, i'm playing in the midlevel section, but still.. I have the same doubts. I'm still not sure if I will raise adventure to level 12. Don't know if I will make it anyway, I don't have that mutch food on stock so every bite will be earned while playing the 4 last chapetrs (just finished ch 6)

I skipped the tales think I've leveled 11 or 12 dragons from 7 to epic about 1 a day sense the tales started tales seem kind of a waste to me

I think if the 2 dragons we must raise to high levels were higher value I wouldn't even question the worth of the food and tasks required to finish. All the stress people were under the last 2 Tales, trying to collect from neighbors, in addition to the time and food seem like a lot for 1 dragon. I do have to admit that the Surprise dragon from the 1st Tales event I did is pretty good at battles though!

Simple Air and Fire, level 8 both. I think it is probably a Firestorm, but plenty of time if it is a Mythic - although I'll need a habitat if it is.

I had an interesting experience at reset. Sharing as it may help explain some of the problems with acts registering under some circumstances.

I am usually never actually in DS at reset time. If I am, I usually exit the game before doing anything. Today, however, I had DS open in the background on the iPad and was using the browser. I saw the notification flash up that the next chapter of the Tales was ready so I flicked over to DS. I opened the Tales and double checked the first act was in fact as planned then I immediately harvested my Firapples without thinking. (I'm doing chapter 6).

Nothing registered. I don't recall ever having harvesting or planting not register as complete.

I force closed, came back in and bingo, received the completed notification (after I'd closed the newsfeed popup).

This app behaviour indicates the reset may not necessarily be completely clean if we are already in DS at the time of reset. Luckily the status of the task is not lost, nor am I going to test this on other chapters, but I will be going back to making sure I do not do new chapter acts if I am still in DS from the previous "DS day".

Well my Tales is over, I have been battling the Lvl 17 Champion Dragon in the tournament for days trying to get my last battle win to progress to Chapter 8. Got everything else sitting ready to go, even if I used gold to pass him I doubt I'd win another 6 battles in the tournament to finalise the Tales event. :(
