I love the idea of a Cat Cafe, but to me just adding the name "Cat Cafe" to Bakery Story along with one or two decorations doesn't really make it a Cat Cafe.

How to do a Cat Cafe game:

Goal:
The goal of the game should be to make the cats happy. The secondary goal would be to make money from the customers of the Cafe in order to do improvements, decorations, etc. Hearts would be your "Cat Happiness" and be based on visiting neighbors, and have your neighbors come and visit you. Other things that could help improve your cat happiness score would be fresh food, water, treats, toys, and customer interactions (so you need to keep food and drinks stocked, so customers come in and play with the cats)

Currency:
Standard gold and gems. Gold earned by selling items to customers, gems earned by goal and quest rewards. Watch videos to earn gems and other prizes (commercials for other cat games, commercials from Petsmart, Purina, Tidy Cats, Friskies, or other companies)

Building:
Standard "buy size upgrades with gold or gems"
The size upgrades could also be tied in to permit more cats, ie a 10x12 could have up to 4 cats, to add more cats you have to get the next larger expansion.

Decorations:
This is a "cat cafe", so besides the normal counters, tables, chairs, wallpaper etc, there needs to be a large variety of cat specific items: Cat trees, scratching posts, cat tunnels, window lounging areas, cat beds, lots of cat toys. All of these items can be "themed" like modern looks, traditional, different color schemes. Along with the normal wooden and modern tables, chairs, and counters, there should be at least two ?themed? sets with cat themes for gold purchase, and at least one cat themed table and chairs for gems. This can be anything from tables shaped like cat paws, cat faces, or cat paw tablecloths, to gem purchased Hello Kitty theme, or tables that look like big balls of yarn.

The cats need to move around the entire Cafe. They need to interact with the various cat toys, take naps in the cat beds, and go up to customers to get petted, played with, and get treats. There should be a set number of water dishes, food dishes, and littler boxes per quantity of cats. For example, a food dish can be shared by two cats, a water dish by three cats, and for every 4 cats you need one litter box. For 6 cats, this would mean you would need 3 food dishes, 2 water, and 2 litter boxes. More expensive dishes (available at higher levels) could feed more cats. A gem purchase like a ?Automatic Self Scooping Litter Box? could support 10 cats. Think of this as like the mirror, cashiers, and dressing room requirements on Fashion Story.

You also need a variety of cat feeding and watering. Again, this can range from using coins to purchase a standard plastic water dish, silver water dish, filtered water dish, all the way up to ?fancy aerating filtered water fountain? that can only be bought with gems. If you don't know what an aerating water dish is ? you need to hire at least one cat lover for your development team, or just use Google. Food dishes can be the same way, from a cheap plastic food dish, up to automatic treat dispensers. Cat food dishes, water dishes, litter boxes, should all be in the Decorations window, in a separate tab.

For the customers:
Standard bake, brew, or buy items. Items are placed onto counters. Customers come into the cafe, get one or more items from counters, pay at register, go and sit to eat and drink, or interact with the cats.

You will need a variety of food and drinks for the customers to consume. Cat treats for the customers to buy to give to the cats. (think ovens to make baked goods in Bakery Story)

You should have a counter or two of small cat toys customers can buy and then go play with the cats with (like buying clothing in Fashion Story). These would be small items like a stick with a small toy on a line, a laser pointer, or a small wind up mouse ? not like the larger cat toys that are decorations.

Neighbors:
You go and visit your neighbors Cafe, and play with their cats. PLAY WITH CATS. :D You need to be able to buy cat treats from your neighbors, and give them to the cats. Buy cat toys, or simply pet the cats, pick them up and hold them, etc. A simple click on a cat could make it do one of several random interactions. Interacting with your neighbors cats would give you hearts.

Buying cats:
Buying cats should be a separate tab on your Buying Decorations. A Tabby or Calico would be cheap at a few gold, ranging up to cats that cost hundreds of thousands. Something like a Blue Russian, Bengal, or Himalayan Persian could range from 100 to 400 gems.

Ovens and drink machines:
Leveling ovens to unlock different foods and cat treats as in Bakery Story. Purchase various drink machines. Remember CAT CAFE: so besides the basic ovens and different colors, you should have ovens that match or complement your various cat themes. This should be along the same line as tables and chairs: a range of gold coin prices for the basic oven styles, up to several gems for specific ?cat themed? looks.

Quests:
Basic quests to increase size of cafe, decorate, sell various items.
Cat rescue
Care for sick cat
Help little Lilly find her missing cat
Seasonal decorating (Lots of black cats for Halloween)
Get ready for the Annual Cat Show
Champion mouse catcher!
Mamma cat is having kittens!
Do maybe one new quest a month, plus quests based on level.

All of these quests could involve visiting neighbors, asking neighbors to give you an item, bake so many of an item, etc.

Here's an easy example of "Missing Cat"
Little Lilly has lost her gray tabby Mittens! We need the whole Cat Cafe community to help her find him. He was last seen chasing a squirrel in Lilly's back yard.
Step 1: She said he likes cat tunnels, maybe if we buy a new one he'll come play in it (marketplace purchase for gold coins)
Step 2: Buy some of Lilly's favorite wallpaper. (marketplace purchase)
Step 3: Visit community Cafes, maybe her cat is there! (Visit 25 community members)
Step 4: Maybe if we bake fresh treats he'll come! (Bake 20 Salmon Supreme Cat treats)
Step 5: Ask neighbors to put up missing cat posters (Ask 20 neighbors)

Quest prizes could be rare cats, or cat decorations only given as quest rewards.

I'm sure cat lovers in the Storm8 community can come up with more suggestions. Make a Cat Cafe like this and I'd love to play it!

Moving this to the off topic forum, since it is not a Bakery 2 Discussion or Suggestion.
