Storybook Event: Essence Of The Forest
* Finish all Chapters of Essence Of The Forest to restore the Forest Tree and earn the Forest Stag!

How a Storybook Event works
1. It's not that you have one day to complete a chapter - it's that another chapter won't UNLOCK until the next day.
2. If you finish the chapter early, you have to wait for the remainder of the time to expire before the next chapter starts. You have to complete a chapter to begin the next chapter.
3. If you take longer than a day to complete a chapter then the next one will start sooner.
4. If you gem skip a chapter, the next one doesn't start sooner (you will wait even longer!).

ISSUES, BUGS and FIXES!
RESOLVED...17 June

I saw the forest workshop and bought it. Built it. Now It tells me to buy one. Doesn't recognize that I have it. Would buy another but can't find it. Help!
no, don't buy another one. I've already reported this... + DON'T buy a second sapling either - it has the same glitch. This is being investigated.

Thank you guys for your patience, this has been fixed. Please force close your game to continue on to the next task. If you are still stuck on this, please let me know.

Ok, here we go:

[Feedback sent to Devs means it won't change for this event.]

1. Side Goals: confirmed no rewards and no need to do them if you don't want to. These side Goals are just to guide you through the event.

2. The Forest Workshop and Racoons post event: The workshop will turn into a decoration after the event. The Forest Wood and Forest Raccoons are only for this event.

3. Can we keep the 2nd tree if we have one? Yes, you can keep the second tree.

4. 25 neighbour requests... I asked for an increase in the response rate.

5. 40 trade tickets
[Feedback shared with Dev's] Update 6/23 - Changed CH9 Task 2 to accept any trade in Royal Exchange. Previously only accepted 'Royal Supply Crate' trade. So it no longer requires 40 Trade Tickets to complete this task.[PikaSquirrel]

Another update:
Chapter 9, Goal 2 now will work with ANY trades in the Royal Exchange. Instead of doing the 'Royal Supply Crate' trade4x, you can now do any trade 4x and you will complete this. Again thank you guys so much for all the feedback! I will update this in the first page.

UPDATE: Level 6 Forest Tree has been changed to a 1 hour timer. The timer for level 6 will return to a 22 hour timer after the event. Will update this info in the first page as well.

23 June: Stag image fixed! you must uninstall / reinstall the game though to see the new and improved Forest Stag. Thanks to SparklyOctopus!

Chapter 1: Old Thomas - Ivy seems to have stumbled upon an old forest whilst out on her walk. It appears to be dying, but she is hopeful that there is a chance we will be able to restore it. Young Ruler, venture out into the forest and see what you can find.

Chapter 5: Old Thomas - I heard a rumor that you ran into Forest Monsters on your adventure, Young Ruler. These spirits can be dangerous, and may also be the cause of the forests troubles. There is a good chance that they may have followed you back to the Kingdom, we had better forge a sword for protection.

Chapter 6: Old Thomas - Ivy was able to grow a few more plants from the Forest Seeds you have been finding. She delivered forest Thistle to me this morning. Maybe you can find some use for it?

Note: Forest Thistle has a 3 hour timer. 3 gems to speed up. (You need to place the Forest Thistle you get from visiting Old Thomas in goal 1. If it doesn't appear in your inventory, then force close your game. The thistle drops Forest Extract..)

After completing Chapter 6, Goal 2 (Find Forest Extract from Forest Thistle 0/3), you get 1 Forest Essence as a reward. Since you also need to craft 1 more Forest Essence to complete Chapter 6 Goal 3, you will end up with 2 Forest Essences, as a result.
So, by completing today's Chapter 6, you will be covered for Chapters 7 and 8, in terms of Forest Essence!

Chapter 7: Perfect! You're here. check out this Forest Dahlia I grew from those seeds - it produces a very potent Forest Nectar. I'm sure any essence from the forest will help this tree grow, let's try it out!

Chapter 10: The Paradise Blooms you found are safe and sound in my hut. I think we can use the blooms from the flower to create Forest Magic. If we use that on the Forest Tree it should be back to its old self in no time!

click the go button loads nothing go into barracks or castle to adventure and its not there and no skip for gems

Part 1 visit Ivys hut
Part 2 go on forest adventure 30 mins I think 5 strawberries and a sword.
2 gems to speed it up in the keep.
Inside says expired in 9 days
Outside 10 so somewhere in between

Also I did get an option screen to start now or to start later. That was appreciated.

Part 3 find 3 more seeds, they drop from the forest adventure. I got one on my first drop so I am assuming 3 more adventures.
Looks like we will need lots of strawberries.

I am on the 3am timer 10 hours til my next chapter

I have IOS and updated to the current Version of the Game. Is it really the only possible Choice to take the Adventure via Kings Keep or Queens Court and not via the Barracks. I though, that someone wrote some Threads above that we could choose frome both possibilities.

Spiritwind the quest Essence of the forest part 1 popped up in my quest book not sure when.

The first part is collect 20 seeds.

It seems to be different from the storybook quest which is located on the right side of my screen.

When I looked at it I had 4 seeds. If anything it started after my first collection from the keep.

Force restarts didn't work for me on Android, I had to go and reinstall the game to get the update. But, by some miracle I also got a new story in my book for the Baron's tent - which we've never had. When did that happen for Android? How did I miss it? It didn't work perfectly (one of the cabbages vanished) but who would ever have thought it. And now while I now wait for another 10 hours to get to collect from Ivy's hut and start this quest properly I've got a couple of items in my book to get animals from the Baron too.

My little avatar is finding it all a bit challenging at the moment and she's on a go-slow at picking things up round the board - at one point I couldn't find her and thought she'd run off.

I was just having a bit of relaxation from the game after the naga and the colosseum stuff. Wasn't quite up to getting back into it so soon. I'm a bit sorry for everyone who doesn't read this forum - would have missed out on this one without finding out about it here.

Hi, I wonder if the date is correct for the automatic start on this event. A maximum delay of just 4 days? We are about to go on vacation to a very remote place without internet and I won't be able to do this now. But if it auto starts this quickly, I will miss it either way. I thought events before had more leeway in the start time, but I could be wrong on that. I usually start right away :). Thank you.

Do we know if the forest adventure is the only place to get forest seeds? Does the forest tree drop them or do we get them as a reward for the side goals? I only ask because I counted up needing 52 seeds for just the first 4 days...that's a lot of longswords and strawberries. At a drop rate of 1 or 2 an adventure, that's somewhere between 26-52 longswords and 130-260 strawberries needed for days 1-4. Any additional info on drop rate from adventure and other sources of forest seeds from anyone pushing ahead would be appreciated.

Hello All. I must admit I am a bit confused. I have not started the event on purpose - I am traveling so I will only start when I am back home. Despite this a new quest came up in my goal book. It requires me to do the Forrest adventure 20 times. I am currently doing this and I have also bought and competed the workshop. I see the issue with the workshop has been reported but is the 20 adventures another goal separate from the event? My goal book says I have 15 days to compete. Anyone else in this situation?

My Kingdom suddenly got busy. I was quietly plodding on with the Griselda line, getting parts for the dark sword and thinking that the baron's birthday was all that was left for the time being. Then Bam! I got the android update with the baron's tent, plus 3 timed goals (kitty, puppy and cabbage Hut) which I shall have to ignore. Then I hit level 40 kicking off the wedding thread - now trying to at least build the carriage as I hate building sites on my board, and now this!

Aaargh!

Do I read correctly that we need to do the adventure dozens and dozens of times? (using swords and strawberries) That's going to put a spanner in everything. Or will there be other sources of seeds as we get further in? On most timed goals the drops of special items increase - the coliseum was dropping extra parts fairly quickly.

I do so want the green stag. He's beautiful.

So far I'm on part 2 the seeds only come from the adventure which will take a few dozen times. If you want the stag I suggest that is what you work on. This is a timed event. You have 10 days to complete. You get 3 small quest every day for 10 days. If you complete them all you'll then get the stag. Yes it uses a lot of swords and strawberries.

The cabbage hut cost gems, just less gems than in the market. You can get the cabbage hut through the Marc during monster hunting season.

The timer has always been like this frustrating I know. I have figured out you get 24 hours a day to complete each section. So you are some where in between 8 and 9 days depending on when your new quest starts, if you completed the first part.

I crafted 2 trees as well but when I collected the first, I placed it on my board right away. Then collected the 2nd tree, tapped store & that's where it is right in ...in my storage. I had no problems.

I stored it at first to but then placed it right away thinking it would drop items needed. After first collection i regretted it.

I bought and built forest workshop. Too early - I know now. But now I'm waiting for bug to be fixed because I can't do anything. I paid 30 diamonds to get next level early and it was waste of money. Not so happy....

The last few updates have been the same way. Don't skip ahead by buying something before its required because it's gonna cause major problems when the goal finally does appear.

Can the descriptors on the tasks be a little more precise? It says grow your tree. I thought I had to water it every hour until it grew up, like a regular tree. I kept speeding it up, and wasted 16 gems before I realized what they meant was to UPGRADE the tree. Kind of sloppy, S8.

What (if anything) was the reward for essence of the forest part 1? I got a reward screen after collecting the 20th seed, but I didn't get any reward for completing it. I imagine if someone uses gems to skip it, they will be very unhappy with recieving no actual reward. I had hoped it would at least be more seeds. :(

I wish the adventure took longer and yielded more seeds. 5 strawberries and a sword for mostly one and occasionally two forest seeds is a bit of expensive, and every 30 minutes is tedious, even for people like me, with a lot of time to play.

Possible bug will keep trying after finish chapter 5 of getting the Forest spirits from raccoons, I'm in chapter 6 and just chopped 2 trees and didnt't get a raccoon when was getting 1-3 per 6 chops. Still is needed to slay raccoons for essence of the forest pt 3

What (if anything) was the reward for essence of the forest part 1? I got a reward screen after collecting the 20th seed, but I didn't get any reward for completing it.

I mainly play on Ipad (ios). Lately, I have been transferring over to android. Very happy to see that the baron tent, wedding alicorn, and the blue pig is finally visible on android.

If your avatar moves slow or takes too long collecting, try quick collection. Tap menu (lower left), then social, and then neighbors. That should speed it up

My game just did this to me as well and grow the sapling has disappeared from the potion shop
I clicked my adventure to quickly and ended up accidentally sending them on another quest because the forest adventure was no longer there and on top

Mine did the same thing. I tried to get into the game but it crashed twice. I assumed they were updating or something. When I tried back later, the adventure to get the seeds was gone.

I completed Chapter 2, Goal 3 (Grow the Forest Tree from the Forest Sapling) but now, instead of getting Chapter 3, I see a timer with 10 hour 30 minutes count down. Is this normal? How will I be able to complete the goal, if on top of being delayed by timed tasks, I am also delayed to even start the next task?

I posted in bugs under forest adventure because I rapidly clicked to collect from my castle and automatically clicked the top adventure (which was suppose to be the usual forest adventure) and inadvertently sent my knights to the ancient vaults....... Now I am up a creek for 24 hours unless the Gods of castle story can reverse my adventure!!! I don't have 88 gems to complete it quickly and even if I did that's a lot of gems to waste!!!!!

This is how Story Book goals work. Each Chapter is 1 day.

Chapter 1 is the first day
Second Day - today - is Chapter 2
Tomorrow - Saturday - will be Chapter 3 (unless you pay to unlock with gems)
Sunday will be Chapter 4

All these times are based on S8 time- Pacific time. Time Zone converter here: http://www.thetimezoneconverter.com

I made an extra but kept it in storage. An earlier poster stated they put out both & it caused problems for them. Not sure how though.
So only place 1 on your game board just to be safe. :)

It is frustrating that an event is rushed out without being beta tested, or tested for bugs at all, in fact. I mean come on: buildings for sale that you shouldn't buy - really? That's basic stuff, guys. Then the mods on here have to deal with all the blow-back from angry customers, when it's the IT team at S8 that should be dealing with our frustration.

Can't the IT team at least test their own stuff ONCE before they roll it out?

In your opinion is it possible to grow two saplings at the same time, and as you have two on your game board and are so far along, has it made anything more difficult.

i crafted two with the intent it would drop stuff from beggining not have to be leveled up. i didnt even try to level both at same time honestly.

I've got two underway and I'm going to level both as I go ... I'll let you know how it pans out

Only at the start but this quest is pretty cool so far.
Let's just hope the Forest Workshop is useful into the future and that the Stag has good drops.

More expansions would be great soon too ... I'm running out of space to display all the beautiful new stuff.

The latest event all were buggy, its kinda becoming a regular thing.

I was curious if we can store the forest tree when its fully upgraded? because we cant store/sell it when its level 1. not sure if its supposed to

It won't let me place the second sapling , you can only store it at this stage :(

I think, from what i have read, that you have to store it and then you can place it, but you cant put it back into storage once you have placed the second sapling

My forest petals are not registering in the goal. So I'm stuck at 3.3 chapter. Has this happened to anyone else? I did force close. Interestingly it is registered in the quest goal. :) Frustrating!!!

I sped up the Sawmill for chapter 3; and then collected from it. It didn't register. Now I'm just going to wait 3,5 hours to collect because I don't want to waste another 6 gems. Is this a bug? Or did I do something wrong?

I had to force close my iPad 3 times before it would register as done. You may wish to try that.

(Kat, I've amended your post just to spell my name correctly :)) lol
from what I understand about this goal, it's similar to others in that you can only upgrade the tree when the goal tells you too; the side goals etc give you time to get the resources to upgrade the tree, so you should do them anyway, but they don't limit you in time; and the other materials are required to upgrade the tree at some point. Post 3 has the upgrade info.

Collecting from the tree will only give xp until it's fully upgraded. I'm really happy that it's all new materials - makes it fairer all round I think!

No you only need one to do the quest but its possible to craft two if you want an extra challenge

... not sure how hard or possible it'll be yet but I'm giving it a go :)

The goal says 0/1. So only 1 is required. I don't think the sapling is available in the Market.
Some players like to have souvenirs, so they crafted 2. I probably won't upgrade my 2nd until I feel I have enough materials so it's staying in storage for now.

You will only be able to upgrade it when you need to for the quest.

For Forest Wood and to spawn Forest Raccoons I've been exclusively chopping aspen trees. Im sure other trees drop as well but I didn't try.
Sawmills have not dropped any.

You can do the adventure without triggering the event. I collected 19 seeds the last two days and just started chapter 1 this morning.

Just a thought, but could a total count be added in post one such as total forest petals needed to complete challenge and total number of strawberries etc for each component so players can prepare and replenish as needed as the max is 99 but I'm sure we would need over 99 as each chapter is complete and resources are used.

The Forest Sapling doesn't require watering to grow like some of our other trees do.
You UPGRADE it like a building but the upgrade window will only appear when you reach the goal that asks you to collect from a leveled up tree.
Hope that helps (& yes, it could have been worded better in the storybook).

To upgrade forest tree to level 5 - 3 petal potion, 1 forest essence, 30 forest nectar, 40 water

The tree has level 6. Looks like we would need to at least 120 petals and 90 saps for upgrading the tree from lvl 1 to lvl 5.

Here is a screenshot my my neb, hope she's ok with it. The stag is not cross eyed but the body looks like it was cut then glued together later :p

It's a building although it's called tree so it's no use to water it.

Forest Adventure does drop forest seeds if you have not started the event!

I am not planning on starting until tomorrow, but I saw the FA in my King's Keep and thought I'd try it to see what happens. I wish I had tried it yesterday! :rolleyes:

Update: it did trigger "Essence of the Forest Part I" though, with a 13-day timer. I don't know if it has automatically started the event for me, though. I don't want to tap it and start it by mistake.

Are you on the quest to hunt them? I don't think they spawn before you get to it....still waiting here. Also, make sure there aren't any sneaky monsters hiding on your board.

The problem with a second sapling is if you don't actually level it up you can't restore or sell for 0 coins just sits there

Darn, didn't realize the sapling can't be stored. Was really hoping it would drop something useful. Really hope it can be stored at some point as it takes up a bit of space!

Yeah, it's weird because it counts as a building in storage and every building upgraded to at least level 1 could be always stored

Yay! I hope they show up for me in two days ;) Collecting seeds and petals in the meantime, and having to resist the urge to park a beast. Those poppies are infested with skunkupines!

I received the sapling but it disappeared before I could clear a space to place it and I can't find it anywhere. I've tried force closing but it hasn't reappeared. What can I do?

Before the chapter, I harvested about 20 poppies and didn't get a single forest petal, so I think they must be locked. Since working on Ch. 3, forest petals are dropping on about every third poppy.

Edit: I didn't notice if the change came immediately or if it happened after building the forest workshop in task 2, though. I completed the first two tasks as soon as I unlocked Ch 3.

I had this happen to me because I didn't have a single 2 by 2 sized space in my kingdom. I finally found the black box hovering over where it was crafted.

Not sure if I'm going to finish this. I need 40 more (out of 45) Seeds from the Forest Adventure for "Essence of the Forest Part 2". I know it's only a half hour adventure, but who has time to check that often, especially since it drops only one seed at a time! Otherwise, I like this side goal and the decorations. But really, 45 trips on the Forest Adventure is asking too much!
I think either more seeds start dropping, or something is up with the counter. I'm on the same task and only had 7 seeds. After one quest, I then had 12 seeds. One more quest, and now I have 14. They are multiplying, somehow. I hope it continues, because only 1 per quest is an absurd amount of questing!
Of all stupid things, water has been ****ing me in this event! I think it's because my regular game goals are also requiring water right now. Good luck!

I have been getting longswords from my knights' hall, level 5. It's not every drop, but at about the same rate as the jousting arena.

I will be ready to make potion in the Forest Workshop at midnight but the workshop is no longer showing the option for making it (it was there when I first bought the workshop). Is this glitch being investigated and will it be fixed in time to make the potions to finish Goal 4. I have reloaded my game.

I'm not up to level 3 yet and I've gotten two seeds on some of the adventures.
I'm pretty sure I got 5 seeds on that one quest, and then 2 or 3 on several others (I've got a nasty head cold and the decongestant makes me feel like my brain is full of molasses, so I'm a little slow on the uptake today, lol!).
I can't ever read those little green numbers, so I keep checking my tree to see how many seeds I got after each quest, and it definitely jumped from 7 to 12. I got seeds before Ch 3 also, but not petals.
