Can't Upgrade Cake

I'm on Goal 2 of 8 (kitty quests) of the birthday event. I bought the cake and waited the 10 minutes until it was "ready" but when I click on it there is no option to upgrade it even though that is one of my current goals.

1. I am on an iOs 6 Plus, v.9.3.2 (13F69)
2. My game version is 2.4.2

I forced close twice and cake is upgrade-able now. Whheeewwww!
