So, I spent 33 Gold and about a million food(200,000 from the Arctic Isles) to go from 5th place to 2nd.

15 for a boost and 18 to finish breeding and evolving.

I didn't even really care about the Grand Prize Dragon as I don't think it looks good, but I saw how cheaply I could win it, so it was an easy steal. I really feel bad for the previous second placer, though. They boosted a few times throughout the competition, if I'm not mistaken. I only spent Gold just now at the very end to steal second place. :(

well the only thing I can say that I diden't get any new dragon from boost or from the roost,witch I boght on sale.the only thing I got from roost at the and is that I menage to rich last milestone,don't know that I would reach it without it.I end it up at 6th place with 8,816.oh yes and the spin glich helped,I would never end up with this resoult ...like never,sorry.

I didn't get any new dragons from the double roost or boosted breed, but i did get 2 angel dragons, and a great amount of rare/super rare dragons from it.

I have 5 new dragons @ Arctic Isle ..Sasquatch, Sabretooth, Icecrown, Penguin, and Meteor, and one new dragon (Aries) on my island. I got a lot of Diamond hybrid fails breeding Leo & Diamond and I did activate the second den when it was on sale which I would have done event or not. Second den I was trying for Infinity which I didn't get, then tried to breed Seahorse and lots of fails there. I tried boosting for the first time (22 gold) surprisingly I came in first, but I think next leaderboard I'm taking a vacation from DS and only log in 2x a day to collect gold and give maps & lotus to my neighbors. I and many others dislike this event and S8 really needs to rethink the direction DS is going.

Got a Diamond from boosted breeding, already had 2. Will keep it until I need the habitat ( whenever I get a Diamond hybrid). Did 2 boosts at half off and sped up diamond. Did not want to use food, like to be above 200k to 250k for next event. Bought the statue, because I like it.

Came in second without really doing much different except Arctic breeding. Got an icecrown so I'm happy!

My leaderboard has first with 9325, me in second with 5521, and third has 4763. Hubby won on his leaderboard with less points than I have.

It wasn't intended, but I just fluked 3rd place...
Was at 8200 points this afternoon, saved almost all my food during the event, had about 1.15 million apples. So bought a 2x boost, collected my duplicate Diamond from the evolution temple, collected some eggs from the nests and started feeding. Fed a few dragons I bred which were very hungry at level 9.
Then thought, oh what the hell, let's feed some commons to level 15. Water was no problem, also won his first fight against Wooden. Then came Light, at the very last bite at level 14 I got a pop-up... low on food! What? :confused: Oh DANG, food level changed for this dragon, it was still at the old level in my spreadsheet! Dang again.
Was at 2nd place for about 20 seconds, then #3 jumped to 1st place in the last minute of the event. Only 5000 apples left, difference in points was too big to get to 2nd place, too bad.
Some people who were leading almost all event now ended up at 4th or lower... Feel quite sorry for them, guess they're asleep or at work now, not able to participate in this last run for points.
Anyway, just got my 25000 apples, gave Light his last bite, now he's level 15 :) Got only 2425 apples left, thank got no tales today
Guess I'll be trying to breed some more primes next days (or weeks, months? :p), as Prime Energy, Prime Power and Prime Loyal are now possible on my island :)

Just played my normal game . Was lucky to breed 2 ultra rares during the period and a few super rares . Did use boost twice to get to 8500 points . And as luck would have it finished 2nd . So yay!!!

Also being in a non competitive group did help play the game with a lot of enjoyment and ease.

How is it I'm playing til the time runs out staying a thousand ahead of the 2nd place person, the time ends says I'm in first place, then I just logged in to find it says tied in 2nd. How do the others points keep going up past me after its over? There's something wrong there

I can't believe my son and I both came in 1st. He is an android player who ended with 7726 points (he didn't even get the Clownfish). I did use boosts to get the Clownfish and because I was lucky enough to breed Gold and Infinity during the LB. I kept thinking someone in my group would boost at the last minute, but I ended up winning with 14,746. I guess I'll enjoy the moment since next time I'm sure I'll be bumped back into a group with crazy points!

There's noo way he could have reached 1st,(28,657,or 2nd 16,013), when 2 of his 3 nests were empty.....So what was the point of boosting...SMH

Probably the player was a bit short on a milestone which they really wanted to get.

I am disgusted by this event and the premise that the person that"wins" is the one who spends the most gold. To me, this is tantamount to *****ing, but I guess s8 is happy with that even though they know that 90% are unhappy with it. The game has reached an ugly impasse in my opinion

I have 19k points - 1st space.
used 50 gold for boost.
but I used 1000k food (and 400k foods in artic isle)

But in fact, I dont like any leaderboard event. I win, so it means other people lose.

I was hanging onto 6th place the last several days only to have the person right behind me boost themselves to 3rd at the last second. Thanks "Enchanted". I'm so happy to have been bumped out of at least getting decent food AND some maps. I'll try not to spend my coins all at once. Hahaha. It's even worse for whoever was in 3rd. Ugh!! I did make it to Clownfish though which was my personal goal without boosting. I only sped up breeding but not more than two or three gold at once. I'm only level 143 and I was up against players at level 170 plus who boosted so I guess it ended up ok. I still think the final dragon should be attainable by all. He was a pretty one this time.

I got 2nd! So happy it's a rainbow dragon! This might be the only time I win, usually I have some big spenders & it is impossible but I was able to make it to the top this time. I really wanted to see what the trophy looked like & it's a tiny little thing lol. I do wish the third place could also win a dragon, I mean don't third place get a medal even in the olympics? What happened to a bronze trophy? Just 2 dragons? Anyway, this game really brings out the pettiness, I don't need stupid remarks on my wall cuz you mad I won. Sorry/not sorry.

I did the same as you, but it was 2 angels for me. I didn't spend money at all and got 2nd place, which shocked me, lol. I only boosted when I did to get Nemo, heehee. I have GPD...and waited out getting 7 gold and used the cheap boosts. :p

I wonder what the lowest score was to gain first place. I came first with only 3990. After coming 13th last leader board event, I was in a very even group. All below 60 when we started and mainly only one nest. No one boosted and I did not use any gold. I hate to think what group I will be in next event after coming first.

In the last event (Mama Dragon), I got 2nd on my main account and 1st on 5 sub accounts. This time around, I got 1st on my main account and 1st on 5 sub accounts and 2nd on another sub account. The 2nd place was due to 2 of my accounts being on the same leaderboard. So far I have had to spend some money on my main account, but only used accrued & gifted free gold on all my sub account wins. Through all my experimentation with my different accounts, I have this event figured out and should no longer need to spend anymore money on my main account for future wins.

Got 1st and 2nd place on two accounts without spending gold, I feel a bit bad. But my main account was in a spendy group and ended up 7th place but that's my only account that reached Puffer. I wish the earliest dragon prize had been something I didn't have already.

But I am quite bummed that one account bought the diamond temple and only got commons and a Mistmoth, free boosted breeding aand all!!

The first leaderboard event that I didn't hate. I was in for the habitat and got all three milestone dragons, ranking 8th in my group. Without the Arctic isles it would have been impossible, so it's still a long shot from fair but it was more balanced. I hope they keep the habitats coming because that's my #1 reason for participating. As long as the randomness of the group building isn't resolved I won't be spending any gold on these events except for what I'd usually do (minimal speedups). There's just no reward for playing with full motivation.
