Event Ends on June 16 2016

Pierre visits every 1,5 hours and drops Buckwheat Flour!

A new event is here, this time it will last for 14 days! Our new visitor is Pierre, who will help us learn true Parisian crepes. Buckwheat Flour is a time-limited ingredient that can be found in the General Store and restocks every 1,5 hours. First step in the making of a crepe is to make a crepe batter, which can be done on the Commercial Stove. When the batter is done, you can make the crepe itself. By completing the main goals, you will get two new recipes (Sweet Cream Crepe & Berry Compote Crepe) on the Jubilee Oven. Good Luck! :)

I agree. You can also purchase buckwheat from the general store. It has an hour and a half refresh rate.

Well this is annoying....I had to wait about 10 min for Pierre to show up the first time so I unlocked the buckwheat flour and collected 5 total then made the batter. After tapping Pierre it reset my buckwheat flour count to the 1 he gave me.

It would have been better if Pierre dropped crepe batter instead of flour since we can buy flour and the batter takes up 2 hours on the appliance that cooks the needed recipes. As I said on page one. It's another hurry up and wait event.

Guess it's time to start thinking about a game plan. 1 cook one batter then one recipe? Or 2. Cook batter continuously for days then after making enough start the recipes? What is everyone doing?

Sometimes when a special customer first sits down they will give coins. After they get served food, then they will drop their special items.

It probably would have been the smart thing to make the batter or a large portion first. I jumped in, and before I even got to the mushroom crepes realized that with a 16 hour turn around time on mushrooms and butter, where we have no access in the value pack to purchase butter, this is going to be very difficult. Even though we have more servings on the ultimate crepe. I wish that I would have thought this through better. I'm already going on level 2 of three of the crepes.

Plus with onions, potatoes, beef, butter, mushrooms, and mayo out of play, it makes it even more of a challenge. Unless you have speciality appliances, it will be a bear. I've already decided to stick with just two of the crepes. I can see making more batter could be a problem going this route, but one just need to pace themselves with the 4 hour turn around time with the potatoes. This could have been done, if the ultimate crepes used one stick of butter or it could have been included in the value pack along with the mushrooms. I purchase another commercial range, and even then I'm having a tough time. Too, even with the buckwheat flour in my seasonal section, the game will not use it, making me purchase the flour. I hope one has a large pantry capacity.
Good luck everyone!

Mahalo MauiLady7. Your post adjusted my approach. I think I'll make 1 batter then 1 item until I hit the long mushroom butter wait time. Then focus on making as much batter as I can until I refresh in ingredients. Also, I wasn't thinking ahead and have been making the tree bread all day which requires butter, so will stop doing that now. Thanks for the feedback

I've been stocking up on butter, potatoes, mushrooms, and onions when I see them in the market. I like the idea of making a lot of batter first then using it up while waiting on restock times. I'm also planning to use my mastery spice on ultimate crepes and mushroom crepes due to the butter and mushrooms. That way I can cook less of them. I had 25 mastery spice saved up and my garden was nice enough to give me 3 more vanilla today.

ellyse99
06-04-16, 05:06 AM
I'm not making any more mastery spice or expert blend at the moment since I'm working on mastering Vanilla Milkshake, so I'll have to depend on what I have stored up (about 12) and no more. I'm planning to use my limited amount on only Mushroom Swiss Crepe, since it has 3 "rare" ingredients, whereas Ultimate Breakfast Crepe has only one.
I'll make lots of batter while stocking up on the "rare" ingredients. It sure helps to have a very large (23 slots) street market and 250-slot pantry! It doesn't help to have almost 60 red cooking wine and 61 (and still making more) house blend though...
It does help that I have 4 commercial stoves and 2 chateau stoves!
P.S. If someone here is "Secret Sauces" or "mary jane" could you please tell me who you are? Thanks!

Well I finished the Pancake from Paris part and I won the sweet cream crepe recipe! Needless to say I am very disappointed to learn that this recipe that I earned takes 1 flour, 1 sugar, & 1 cream for 450 servings & earns 900 coins!! Two coins a serving is pretty low coin value for working hard to earn the recipe. No wonder it was never posted or a lot of people would never have tried to get it. And it's on the soon-to-be-crowded jubilee oven! They could have at least made it for 3 or 4 coins! 450 servings is a lot of servings as well. The first level is 10. I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed in the recipe, or my haste to finish it as I spent a small fortune in the farmers market to do so. I still had plenty of time had I paced myself. I'm so glad that I never started the mushroom crepe. I'm 10 away from finishing the ultimate breakfast crepe, however my counters are so full of crepes it will probably be a week before the ultimate is gone from my counter. So there you have it! Please tell me that I am mistaken 31469

I haven't gotten any butter in the market even once since this new event started. The butchery wait for butter is ridiculous on a goal like this.

I've been waiting soooo long just to get a butter to make the lobster sandwich, then will need more for other things.

Getting frustrated :/ anyone else having trouble finding butter in their markets?

Added: Mayo, too, it used to be in my market quite often but not once it was needed!

Thanks so much for your response, sorry to hear you're going through that, too.

Mushrooms aren't showing up much in shop for me now either but fortunately I had a good stash of them at the start. I think I've only gotten 2 onions since this event started, too (in market).

I upgraded my market for this event hoping it would help. Waste of tools since all that shows up now is tomatoes and sushi ingredients. I'm with you on feeling disillusioned.

I have more than enough mushrooms and butter on my main character thanks to the 24-slot street market, but then have to keep waiting for buckwheat flour. I'm even working on mastering apple pie just to get rid of the extra butter.
My 50+ level character only has the usual 2 commercial stoves, so if I'm making batter all the time I can't use them for making crepes. Seeing that the sweet cream crepe is so crappy I think I might as well just try for mastering the ones on chateau stove instead - thankfully also have 2 of those.

Well we must not have the same street markets! Since I'm not making the mushroom crepe, I've decided to work on my french onion soup. I buy at least 4 onions a day since my veggie restock is a 5. I buy them when ever I can which I never see them that often in market. Of course the only other time I rely on the market is cruises, unless I do need a single item. I've been seeing mushrooms at least 6 times a day. Butter I see about 4 times a day. Mayo is a rare bird. Unlike the fortunate ellyse99, I have a 10 slot farmers market. How can we all have different farmer markets? It can't be based on what you buy from it, because I buy assorted items from it.

I just hope that for the chateau stove crepe makers out there that the berry compote crepe has a much better value. I guess I should make a batch of sweet cream crepes just to see if its the right amount. I wouldn't be losing much if I decided to trash the whole counter, compared to what I spent in market for the recipe!!

Well Done MauiLady7 on getting the recepe even though it is low coin value!! I was on the last hurdle of mastering for all recipes (ridiculous having 24 to get for the mushroom crepe)) but have given up today as there is no way on earth I will be able to master any of the recipes unless I use more gems in 7 days.. The refresh/wait time for making the batter is ridiculous and I won't even go into the amount of butter/mushroom needed that has of course the longest refresh times... way way too much!! I have never seen either butter or mushrooms in the street market and I was lucky if I got 1 vanilla a day despite every 1 1/2 (to refresh wheat) chucking out & refreshing the garden.. As for Pierre.. he is downright mean only giving 1 buckwheat at a time.. what is that all about... My pantry refresh is 4 and I did use a lot of gems to refresh at the start for the buckwheat but not using any more as very very disappointed with this goal.. As for the quick serves.. since this goal the game started playing up & they are thin on the ground giving them out.. I "help" 15 odd and get 2 quick serves back if I am lucky.. I have logged out/in but obviously they have rigged it as it was working perfectly before the goal started!! I was at the end of my tether before but I have had enough which is why I am going to take a break from this game as it has turned out to be far too time-consuming to finish goals as you literally have to be on it 24hrs a day to achieve them.. For me this is no fun.. A game should be there to be enjoyed not "Having" to sit on it continually to get somewhere with nearly impossible time limits.. I have done the same with Bakery Story2 & stopped.. That Pinata was the last straw!! Maybe I will be back in September after I have cleared my brain of Storm8 Stress!! Bye for now!! xx

Why are the developers writing that Pierre will leave today if there is still 7 days left of the event?

I had the same question as the two posters above! Is this a mistake? I'm nowhere near close to finishing the second crepe recipe.

Omg I literally pulled up the forum to ask if we could keep Pierre for good because He's simply adorable, would be a perfect rep for an 'elderly' v.i.p. and coordinates with the decor! :) Only to find he's leaving even earlier than expected? Boo.....:(

The two hour wait for a single serving of batter on the same appliance where crepes are made is ****ing me! If it were "just" one hour, things would be a lot more manageable... :( making batter/sauce for quest recipes has never been a problem for me in the past, I'm a little frustrated that this of all things is an issue, as if the other factors that make this quest difficult to complete (for me, at least) weren't enough.

Pierre is just a little wishy-washy, can't decide if he should stay or go...kind of like that song from the '80's!

No Quick Serves? I found doing the crepes on this stove a lot faster than the others because the ingredients refreshed so much faster. Then again i have 3 of these stoves.

Agreed I enjoyed this one too. End result recipes are pretty much useless but the event itself was cute and not too time intensive.

Don't think I will finish both. Crazy busy week at work and not much time to play. I'm on the last step of the berry crepe one, mastering ultimate and mushroom crepes and should finish that with mastery spice. Only on step 5 of the other one, don't think I can get it done. Am certainly going to try though! Congrats to everyone who finished. :)

I have just a few more breakfast crepes to cook to finish up this challenge. I was too busy this week to keep checking in on game to collect buckwheat, so I buckled and bought the buckwheat/mushroom combo twice. But that also added 200k coins. I also used 12 saved up mastery spices on the crepe with the butter ingredient. It was onions that made me "hurry up to wait."

I really enjoyed this quest. I was able to cook away with ingredients not being saved for crepes and 1) expanded, 2) learned pink lemonade, 3) learned onion soup. I mastered a few recipes in addition to crepes too. Though I threw a ton of resources at the crepes ($4 of real money and all my saved up mastery spice) to finish. I have tried and failed with the other (no taco stand recipes, no turkey leg recipe, etc).

I'm enjoying this quest too ... funny being so focused on conserving certain ingredients and doing time management on the commercial range, I was able to gain a few more stars and build up more cash from cooking other dishes without even thinking about it :) I still have a day or two of cooking to master all the crepes, but should be done in plenty of time.

Finished it today with a timer for the flour anytime I could and using every mastery spice I could make.. Pretty boring event just babysitting and juggling with the stove. Meh.

Well, I was able to get the first recipe. But I am like 12/19 on the last level of the ultimate, and 2/24 on the last level of the mushroom crepes. I can't get this done in 4 days...I have 3 spaces open in each store, and had just gotten my chateau stove (just 1 right now) when this event started. Just not enough spaces open in my stores to get it. What's ironic is I am able to log on and off all day babysitting, and I don't mind doing that lol. Just not enough onions and butter and mushrooms...

Love this event, even though I won't be able to finish the Berry Compote Crepe goal. Just too much work with the mushrooms, onions and mayonnaise. Hope that we won't get a cruise event tomorrow, not in the mood for it :p
