Level 46 battlegrounds gone

I'm trying to understand where the battlegrounds went. The last one I had was level 43 I believe. Were there only s many or what?

The last Battleground had the Snowmonster as the prize. It was released in January. Since Battlegrounds are not timed events, new players are able to compete in each of the Battlegrounds released so far one at a time until the last one released has been completed. A new one is released every 3 months or so we are overdue for a new one. It could be that the Battleground feature has been retired for now.

Let's hope they are not retired as they are such a good source of resources, especially food and gems.
