Moving up to level 100

Hello

I have been playing the game for a few years now, and stuck on level 99. I have come across some level 100's
Could anyone let me know why moving up the levels seemed quick but now seems like an impossible task moving up the game?

Level 100 is meant to be pretty impossible to get to. I read that it was semi-possible, but they changed it again to make it REALLY REALLY impossible for us 99-ers, lol. So anyone at 100 got there before they changed it again I think. (Could be wrong, don't quote me!)
