Anyone eles not get egg for fire and ice dragon

Hi people I was wondering in anyone eles was having trouble with the last step of the fire and ice event and getting no egg. Even after force closing. I have tried at least 40 times now and just get told force close. Am I missing something or have a just wasted a whole help of gems and time
