What are XP for? Why isn't there a game manual?

Experience points are to master each room. Before you enter a room to choose the amount of Cards to play, you will see 5 game pieces below the name of the room. Under the 5 game pieces, you will see a bar with a game piece at the end to the right. Earn experience points to fill up this bar 5 times to master the room.
