Did anyone notice the change?

I lost the first round with my best fighter because:

1. It is apparently no longer my best fighter. As a matter of fact, I had to search, as S8 changed the elements, and there are now no singles except Fire, Nature, Water, Dark, Electric, Gem and Treasure.

2. They paired it with an element that apparently weakened it toward the combination.

Look for your old Valentine, Skull, Xmas beasties down below and see who they are paired with. Apparently the second element now has to be considered, as it was with other two element pairings. I have no idea, after just one round, what effect this will have on all of our previous single fighters, but I expect to lose this one for the first time ever, and I have played from the beginning, before we had the special Trio elements. Or gem or treasure, for that matter.

I can only speculate as to why. Might it mean the end of Trios? Or were too many people winning with strong single elements? Or is S8 going broke? I believe the latter to be highly unlikely.

Anyway, this is what we have now. I suspect our favored fighters chart is much less useful than before, and it will take time to figure out the fighters. I wonder is the downgraded fighters can be bred now, although it won't make a difference for them, so I doubt it.

Heads up folks, the rules of the game have changed.

Good luck, poofyena. You might want to look at the suggested fighters list, which if you have never won, chances are that you didn't have a stable of Single element trio winners. It appears that the playing field has been leveled for older players with a history of Trio wins. May this be your first win, and may there be many more ahead.

Yes, I noticed straight away. I was looking for my favourite Barn Owl and saw something was up, I have only levelled one of the Autumns to 15, now may have to do more?? The last 3 day tournament was the first one I had lost & I find the short ones difficult. However with only 2 gems left after finishing 2 battlegrounds in order to get the last zodiac habitat at a cheap price, I may have to realize that I may not win this one either. Time will tell, however Barn Owl came through. NOT A NICE MOTHERS DAY SURPRISE S8

S8 games continuing to go down the rabbit hole of greed. When are you going to realize S8 ISN'T about a good gaming experience but all about the money. Been playing multiple S8 games for over 3 years and the change in the last year is remarkable. Have over 20 animals in storage because expanding is just too expensive. Already dropped castle story after playing for 3 years. Game went from a fun experience to monotony where you had to spend vast amounts of time to achieve anything. No longer had a storyline just monotonous collecting to make S8 money. The amount of money they expect you to spend to play is obscene and the fact that people pay it is mind boggling. Fantasy forest story issue a money grab so don't expect to win any tournaments unless you want to spend lots of cash or 24/7 on the game.

I don't have any of the single element or trio critters aside from the two shamrock beasties I purchased with their special habitat on St. Patrick's Day. I actually wasn't pleased to discover that they *had* to go into a special habitat, nor was I delighted to find that the tree habitat was only good for tree element beings. And it doesn’t look like there are a ton of those currently. So for me, I was quite happy to see the change. Space is seriously limited so when you get a single element animal and find it requires a habitat that will sit mostly empty for awhile (or you don't quite find the shamrock habitat as pretty as some others), well, it kind of burns you in the britches. =(

Yes, I was happy for the change. I have been winning tournaments without the special single element beasts (the chart and player win/loss records are hugely helpful!), but I definitely can sympathize with the players who have been playing a certain way and with a winning formula for so long, just to have the carpet hauled out from under them. I generally don't appreciate big changes to games, and I can tell by reading people's posts that this is, but I don't get the impression that S8 did this out of some nefarious scheming to make more money, maybe just to make it more fair? Then again, if a special, previously single element critter is suddenly able to fit onto your island without requiring you to buy a special habitat... that does mean more special critters might get sold... I guess it's a win for some, but not all. =(

It's taken me 4 tries to get past round 1 the Castlewary, finally got it down with my Gold Lion, but I definitely don't like the changes S8 have made to the single element animals......the changes were not for the better for the tournament.

Ugh Round 9...The Quartz is kickin my behind!! Used Gretel 3x (fire element), and I get him all the way down where there's just a hint of his energy left. ..but he keeps hangin in there! Let it go Quartz! ! Just let go!!! :p

UPDATE: Gretel's fire wasn't cutting it. So decided to try Dark element...my Hatchling (AKA Eggy) took care of the Quartz in 2 hits!! Woohooo onto Round 10!

Level 15 Obsidian Cyclops takes down the Honey Badger on the first try to finish the tournament. Overall record of 18-12 ties for my second best 18-round tournament so far, see post #3 for nettle details. Never lost more than two times on any 1 round which helped out a lot and my troops finished with a flurry only losing 3 times in the last 5 rounds.

This is the hardest tournament I've ever done. I think I'd be doing better if they hadn't added elements to the single element animals.

Well I just finished with 12 losses overall. Not too bad. Sadly he will have to stay in storage for now :( I'm really scared about running out of space and I need to keep room open for breedable limited animals that I would need to have a home for right away

The first half of this tournament was surprisingly easy for me, till I reached round 13. I already lost 16 times against Chilldebeast. I doubt I will finish this tournament. I don't have animals that are strong enough, my Bead Steed and Matripony are only level 10, and my only level 15 electric animal is Lightning Leopard. I also tried my Goldscale, but it is only level 9. I definitely need more luck.

I just got the Honey Badger. This one was a little too close for comfort. It has been a busy weekend and I didn't have that much time to play. I played on the fly for the most part. I didn't have a chance to update the tournament round by round but I would estimate I lost about 12 times during it.

Yaaay Finally got the Honey Badger! ! Woohoo! Won't be hatched in time to win the food or XP But I'm happy nonetheless! I've complained about this before but here it comes again: if you win the [] tournament, then you should win the prizes associated with it!
