They usually send out an update a few days before a new task to give everyone time to update it. Don't worry you'll have more fun soon enough.

I always thought updates in the game came thru on Thursdays at noon, California time?
My gameplay is stagnant. I can't get any gold nuggets for that troll quest. Im kind of bummed.

New quests and game play comes through on Thursdays at noon. Game software updates come through the App Store. The app usually updates before something major. Like a new story line, major buildings, continueing story lines, etc.

New versions roll out several days before the story update arrives, gives time for player to get the new app before the timed event hits the road.
