I'm new to the forums, and this will be my second cruise event (I started playing RS2 during Mardi Gras event) but how do you know an event is coming? I didn't see a notification in my game.

Ugh I'm tired of all these catering events. We're getting so many. 75% my restaurant is open. Thinking about deleting. Give us more goals and catering events once a month. It's not that hard.

No one is forcing you to play the cruise events. I always pick and choose. During the last day of the mardi grass I fell ill... But that's okay I only missed out one two gem recipes got the rest. I love playing especially during cruise events. And if not I'm not afraid to skip...

I'm sitting this out. I have regular goals to do, trying to learn new recipes, and save for an expansion. Don't have time to give away food for decor I don't have room to put out.

TOO MANY EVENTS!!!!!!

Several ways. First there is a pop up when you go into the game. If there's no pop up then force close your game and try again. Second the events always alternate cruise, new recipe, cruise, new recipe etc. we just finished a new recipe(s) so automatically a cruise starts

Seriously don't understand why there are so many negative comments. If you don't like cruises, skip them. I love them and can't wait for another gem recipe. Without all of these missions this game would be ridiculously boring. Love all of the events and such fun rewards. Way to go storm8!!! Thank you for all of your effort designing such an addictive game. ❤️❤️❤️

We didn't say we don't like them, just that there are too many of them. The Japanese event ends and literally the next hour a cruise starts. Too much! There's no reason not to have a day or two or even a week between events. This game is constant events. There's still a game to be played beyond that.

Good luck to all who are attempting it. I'm going to go unlock butter and learn apple pie.

We all have our individual preferences and play styles. There are some members who dont enjoy cruises so they only do quests instead; others prefer cruises and skip quests. Well, some like both so it may become a little overwhelming for some. I guess having a quest and a cruise per month is to cater for all members accordingly to their preferences.

I would love to complete every single quest and cruise but I know I have limited time, so personally I pick and choose to do those I prefer. Maybe this will help those who are overwhelmed... :o

P.S. For some who prefer a day or two break, maybe it would help if you start your cruise a day or two later? FYI, the auto start for cruise kicks in only on Day 4 for those who arent aware...

You don't have to start a cruise event right away. You can wait 4 days from today and the cruise event will start automatically.

There are 2 buttons, [Later] and [Start Now!], on your cruise screen. You can choose to start your cruise any time now or later. However if you have not start your cruise by Day 4, the game will automatically start it for you. For me, I usually select to start my cruise so that my last day, Day 10, falls on the day which I have most time to play. Hope this helps. Good luck on your cruise. :)

You have 4 days from when the cruise begins to hit the "start" button to get your first day of orders. You don't have to start immediately when the option to start appears. After 4 days the game will automatically start you and then you decide if you will play it or ignore it. The goal will stay in your book until the cruise ends.

Like others have said, events are back to back. I like that cruises have an auto start period. I also like that S8 listened to us and didn't have new recipes to learn while also having a cruise at the same time. This I appreciate. Please continue as long as you don't do two at a time again, I believe it was Mardi Gras cruise where you did this, and have done it before. I'm cool with tons of events, just not at the same time (cruise + biscuits + stew). Anyway. Thanks for listening again (especially with the soy sauce).

You do get to know the timing. Cruises are usually after another week long event, which is why I got the last event finished faster to give me a couple of days to prepare.

Don't get disheartened if you don't get the cruise finished. The last couple of days can be hard until you get up in the levels and have expanded pantry and shops to stock up a bit more.

I have never not finished a cruise - from the very start I have been able to get them done & I love them personally. But for events to be back to back is personally too much in my eyes :( even a day or 2 of just downtime would be really nice. *sigh* better get started.

I haven't finished the last few cruises. Spent gems on the Easter one cuz, you know....bunny!! On about day 7 I get behind due to orders I can't fill from recipes I have not learned and then all I get are 1-2 coin orders. I was working on day 8 still on day 10 last time. Never finished day 9.

It's not ignoring regular goals for a week, it's ignoring them all the time since events are back to back. Regular goals may be worthless if you have a lot of coins and have unlocked things like lobster and the associated recipes. I have not. I need coins more than I need decor I can't display. I don't make a lot of the gem recipes I already have. I don't typically spend gems on anything in this game, except for, well, bunny cupcakes....

I am quite new to the game so I might be asking a stupid question. A task says that I should tap on elvis but where is he? There are two outside my restaurant in the event area but tapping on them does not work. I already missed the easter bunny because I couldn't find him.
I hope somebody can help me :)

After you complete the cruise, Elvis will enter your restaurant. Tap on him then to complete this goal.

You have to complete all 10 days of event. Each day you have to send certain amount of dishes, after you send required food you get the prize for a day. You have 24 hours to complete the day, so if you complete it earlier, you will have to wait the remaining time until you can start next day.

Think of gems from the gem recipes as helping with future cruises, not only to finish days you don't have time to finish but to buy extra stoves and buying things like shovels and hammers to expand your pantry. I never buy gems and I don't use the ones I earn for decor but they can be used to make things a bit faster and easier.
Also remember how useful quick serves are on the last couple of days, so make sure you have a good flow of those coming in. RS2 isn't as reliant on them as BS2 but it certainly makes a difference on the last couple of cruise days. Using them will also cut a day or more off other events stopping them from being back to back.

I agree however at 37 coins are still an issue. After 50 you'll have more than you can spend. So you have that to look forward to :)

tuffyjkitten
04-15-16, 06:16 PM
I agree, at a certain point coins are no longer an issue and the game strategy changes a lot. It hasn't happened yet in RS2, FS2, or BS2 but it will! Oddly enough I finished my first cruise at level 18 with no issues. Wasn't until I started leveling up and having so many things added to the mix that were not unlocked or learned yet that it became difficult to finish.

Hope everyone gets through with no issues!

I have never finished a cruise yet, the last 3 special receive events I haven't finished and I'm level 46 have been in the 40s for a long time

Money has never been an issue to get on any storm 8 game except farm 2 it's impossible for me to earn

I forget there are regular goals just casually go about them in the casual day to day of game play

Right now mine are buy chateau oven $400,000 master pizza to 2, pizza to 3, and ones to cook things on chateau oven I only have 60,000 right now due to learning new recipes cruises usually want

The last 2 cruises were only 1-2 coin recipes day 5-7 so I get usually to day 7, the Easter one made it to 8 but had to spend a few gems

I'm sick of ovens and stores with recipes I can never make because I didn't finish at least the cruise doesn't rub it in your face with useless appliances you don't complete receive option just doesn't exist for you

You have to complete this cruise to finish Day 10 for Elvis to come to your restaurant, the you can tab on him. You can ignore this goal if you decide not to participate this cruise, it will expire on its own. The cruise information is found on Post #1 of this thread. Hope this helps.

Day 3 and it's already too hard. I only get 1 or 2 gem recipes. Last cruise I accidentally tapped on the fourth slot and I had 4 gem recipes coming up like crazy. The gem reward recipe I won didn't give me more than 20 gems altogether. But,it's too challenging not to try it.Good luck chefs! After all,it's the journey that matters.

The cruise started yesterday and the game will kick start it on the 4th day. The first few days require less gem amount so they are easier to catch up. You may want to let your game kick start your cruise.

I can't remember the exact for lower levels but that will be my guess too.

To add: if that isn't the case, you can still do the 3 coin and finish off with a 1 coin and conserve your supplies or dishes of 4 coins for later cruise days.

Anyone else get repeatedly asked for orders room the deep fryer?!!

I refuse to ship any orders from the deep fryer and I'm pretty sure the game knows that. I've been asked for all of those recipes at least twice already and some three or four times. I just refreshed fried chicken and it was replaced with fried chicken, which is what prompted me to vent about it here.

Ok time to go refresh a deep fryer order

As each takes 30 mins to refresh

which is better strategy?

I do the 1 and 2 coin dishes if they take 30 mins or less to make and if I have enough ingredients to make them

And at the end of the day, don't deliver a 4 coin dish if you can finish with 1 or 2

I agree, I think Storm 8 has taken a lot of our comments and suggestions seriously and made some changes for us - which I really appreciate! I too think back-to-back events are hard, especially when you play more than one Storm 8 game. I would sit this cruise out because I find them a bit stressful, but I want Elvis to join the menagerie of odd characters who stop by my restaurant!

So overall, thank you to the developers and coders who are creating good events and making them less frustrating/impossible for us to complete. :)

My cruise started automatically, which is fine, I'm still ignoring it. What I forgot about was that dishes asked for by the cruise will be delivered whether I'm doing it or not....I lost a dish cuz I wasn't paying attention. Now I'm refreshing to get things I haven't learned or ingredient only requests so that I don't have to worry about recipes given away.

Hope everyone is enjoying the cruise!

Can you check again? Mine shows for 300 coins. Yes you do need to buy it if you complete the cruise for cooking the gem recipe.

To add: Glad you rechecked and saw yours for coins.

I was wondering what the Jubilee oven was for! Bought it, then thought I'd come here & find out.

So it will be used to cook the reward recipe from this (and possibly future) cruises?

Definitely for this cruise and hopefully for future cruise recipes as well. I think it'll be good to have an extra stove that we can use instead of cramming all cruise recipes on celebration stove whereby buying an additional costs gems. This new stove is great for those members who have only one celebration stove. :)

I guess I'm late to the discussion, but I do agree that the level you are on definitely influences gameplay and feelings toward events.

I've been playing this game a long time now and as someone stated earlier without cruises or new recipes, it would become very monotonous. I do understand if you are new or even fairly new and want to learn the earlier recipes and respect that. But I do want to thank Storm8 for constantly coming up with new and interesting events. I guess I'm used to the cruises because they really don't make me play all that differently.

I have a question about the cruises. If you are asked to make Coq Au Vin twice during the cruise, will you be asked to do it again? So far I never have seen a recipe twice, but I this is only my third cruise. Last cruise I had 10 jars of mayo two days in a row, and same with 10 strawberries. Anyone that has input it would be greatly appreciated. I know I can always refresh, but I'm just curious if I should keep replacing the items that I've made twice, with the items on the counter still made up. Thanks and happy sailing everyone!!!:D

I think that the numbers for day 8 has changed. I just send away a 2 and a 4 cruise coins dish and got 17 gems off for the 2 coins dish and 68 gems of the 4 coins dish.

Day 8:
1 coin = ?
2 coins = 17 gems
3 coins = 40 gems
4 coins = 68/69 gems

Perhaps you are unaware, there has always been 2 sets of gem/coins dishes for cruises. This cruise follows the Alaskan Catering Cruise. http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?84081-Event-The-Alaskan-Catering-Cruise!

Side note: For this reason, perhaps it isn't a good idea to publish the whole set of gem values at the start of the cruise without knowing which pattern it is.

This is getting ridiculous!! I have been trying to get orders to finish the cruise and I have had only one 4 coin dish, one 3 coin dish and the rest have been for recipes I don't have yet & long cooking hours 1 & 2 coin dishes for the last 10 hours.. I am running out of quick serves plus I have had to refresh so many times.. Typical it is the last day I am having this.. Still have 160 gems to go.. at this rate I won't get the cruise finished.. anyone else experienced this on the last day??

@ Bonnie: yes, it was a long way for me, too, until I was able to finish cruises, and the last day is always the hardest, full of small recipes. That is why it is necessary to be available that day a lot. Before starting the cruise, reflect, which day as last day is most suitable for you, begin the cruise to end on that day...
Good luck, and don't give up!!!!

Congrats to everyone who is finishing their cruise!

I enjoyed not participating and things I accomplished this week should make future cruises easier. I unlocked apples and lobster. Then I learned apple pie, prime rib, surf & turf, and lobster Thermidor. I also earned back every coin I spent on unlocking and learning recipes, so I actually have more coins than I started with. Was able to finish most of the goals in my book, except for those that require deco purchases, which are not important right now. It was a good week. :)

Elvis have a 2000 gems value, but it doesn't mean that you will get 2000 gems right away. You get gems by cooking Clams Casino, and since it is a permanent recipe, you have a chance to get 2000 gems of cooking it.

well, i'm lvl50, and have not so poor progress in game so far.
but this was the 2nd cruise i completed.
for previous one, i've got at least the oven with several permanent recipes, so it worth it.
but this one... i've spent over 60 gems to get in time.
interesting, how fast can i recover it in order this clams got profitable... )))
don't think i'm gonna go in cruises again. too stressful even for higher levels.
especially in view the gems come harder than before (they cut my rewards for installing games abt half a year ago. i'm getting now only 14gems and not 30 for each...)

I think the 2000 refers to the cost of the recipe if you were to complete each day by spending the required number of gems for that day, rather than gem earning potential.

If you count how much each day cost to complete instantly with gems, it would be around 3000 gems.

The grand total of the gem values of all 10 days exceeds 2000 gems. It's just a number assigned by S8 to signify the value of the rewarded recipe.

6 hours may seem a little long if you base on duration. However look at it from a long term perspective, you get to collect gems from this recipe permanently. Once you get a few gem recipes, you'll find that you wont be able to use up all these special ingredients, at least for me. I still have surplus ingredients though my celebration stove cooks non stop.

Quick "what would you do" question: I'm on day 9, and almost finished. I can't play as much tomorrow, since I have to work. Do you think I should pay the gems to start day 10 early or use the gems tomorrow to try to complete once it starts on its own? I'm leaning towards starting early, but interested in what others think.

Yes, yes, we have lots of special customers droping special ingredients, with amazing total of 4 (soon to be 5) gem recipes, I still can use all those ingredients pretty quick (playing as much as I can, wich is a lot on my point of view). I guess I'm just used to the 2 hours visiting customers :P

How much does it cost to start early? How long do you expect to get those gems back with the special recipes? Are you CERTAIN you will be able to finish the event (if you don'y it's just a waste of gems)? If I was just one day away, I'd probably spend those gems... Good luck to you!

It's 100 gems to start early. I have 140 now, but for the last cruise event, I used almost 200 and that was mostly on the last day. I am pretty certain that I'll be able to finish. If I don't finish today, I'll still have after work tomorrow to get the rest of what I need. I'm just worried that if I try to do it all tomorrow (with the short time I'll have to play) I won't get it done - with or without using my gems. Thanks!

I believe a gem recipe is always worthy on the long therm.. but yes, its kinda disapointing :( I got probably all the last 5 gem recipes, most of the days i quickly run out of special ingredientes, but they DID give me a boost on gems, right now I'm saving for a second mixer and deep fryer, but would't think twince on spending on a nice decor/style, if I wasn't sooo picky.

people do make it seem soooo easy to finish (well, SOME people), but there is nothing easy on it u__u i'm always in trouble, didn't finish many many cruises. But got the last 5 (maybe 6 or 7, not sure). That is after I started reading the guides, and strategy tips, those helped A LOT. To me what works on the last days, wich to me are the real trouble, is preparing the day before, start the day as early as you can, understant how many 'dish coins' you need to deliver and before delivering the last dishes refresh for a 4 coin dish to be cooked over night. Also I always start the event on a friday (if possible) so I can get the last days on the weekend.

That said, and risking to break the good luck, this last cruise was the easiest ever to me, I got many good dishes, had all the ingredients, no one appliance dishes... it was awesome..!
