Can't visit friends

I'm using a 3rd gen kindle fire hdx and every time I try to visit a friend's island, the app closes. I've tried from the social menu and the message menu, it always closes the game.

My granddaughter began playing DS on her Kindle Fire & I invited her to be my nbr. I play on my Android phone. I can visit her but she can't visit me. Unfortunately it has frustrated her that she's unable to visit many of her nbrs & is ready to stop playing. Told her I'd see if I can find an answer to this before she stops a fun game. Any suggestions? ? Thanks !
