Dragon Egg question

Hi, this could probably be easily answered and I may feel stupid for asking. My forgotten roost dropped a dragon egg, but I can't seen to hatch it in the forge. I have the "incubate egg" option in the forge, but it doesn't seem to think I have an egg. Is there a goal I'm supposed to complete before I can hatch dragons?
