Gold bar for Baron's birthday

I've had the goal to make the baron a gold bar for a birthday gift on my goal list for a long time. I haven't wanted to waste 10 gold nuggets for it but I have been wondering - is this goal blocking me from getting some other goals or advancing the storyline? In other words, can I just keep ignoring it indefinitely?

All it leads to, as far as I can tell, is A Monument to Greatness, which is the baron demanding you build him a gold obelisk out of 5 gold bars (99,999 gold coins apiece) and 50 jewels. A Monument to Greatness has been in my goal book for months now. I just haven't bothered catering to his greed. :D

The obelisk looks really cool, and you can build more than one. It costs 500000 coins.

This is one of my goals that I've also had for months! I'm lucky to get one gold nugget every week or two so there's no way I'm giving up 10 until I have an actual surplus...hopefully that will happen within the next few years lol.

Yes, you must do it in parallel. Else you must buy it. The difference between crafting and buying are just a few coins and time.
