Runes

Hi everyone. Maybe I just haven't noticed before but I noticed today after I started an expansion that it then said my next amount of runes to expand will be 72, I'm sure it was 70 before. Maybe it was 72 and I just haven't been paying attention but was sure it was 70. Can anyone tell me for definite?

That's strange. Mine says 70.

As you expand the number of runes will increase.
Currently I need 78 for my next expansion.

Ah, ok. I have been at 70 for so long and only ever seen people mention 70 that I thought that was the max.

I have a question. Does anyone have a strategy for accumulations runes? I try to hit the 4 corners and then the middle top and bottom in trying to get runes. Not sure this is the best strategy in trying to get more runes. Only get 1 per bomb; if lucky, 2. Takes forever to expand and I presently have 8 animals in storage.

If you imagine the mine as a grid, try to go in the middle of each of the 4 large squares rather than the corners. I remember a member made a post about it a long time ago, I will search to try to find it for you.

During the first storybook the DS thread on this was mentioned and after that I made a similar composite image with the grid and with the quadrants marked as well as the best first bombing spots. I will not be home until January 5th but when I'm home I can post that image here. I actually wanted to do that already for a long time but never got around to doing it.
Using the approach as laid out I almost always get two bombs, sometimes only one, sometimes three and very rarely four. I'd love to be able to boost the average of two, but I haven't yet succeeded in that.

[RANT] I am so ticked off! My game crashed as I was mining! Mining with a last bomb close to a rune. Mining for runes 68 & 70 of a 70 rune expansion!

RRRRRRRRR. Now instead of waiting for an expansion to finish I must wait 17 hours until the umpteenth couple of koala fails finish to be able to mine again. [/END RANT]
