In which order to craft dragons?

I tried searching for a thread about this but couldn't find one. I haven't crafted any of the permanent crafting dragons yet except for Lotus. (And I bred Gemstone.) Now I have the materials to craft Ruby, Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire or Pearl. Which one should be first? Are some more useful in battle etc.? Which would you choose and why?

I crafted Topaz first as at the time I didn't have any champions and he would turn up near the top of the list of competitors for a couple of dragons in each tournament.

I find Topaz and Ruby to be the most useful in the arena.
